Dream 1: Forbidden Rat Trap I'm outside and the sun is out, it looks like a late summer or earlier autumn afternoon. It's an open space with some trees out further behind me: I'm on a rock and the flatness stretches forward below me. There is a fenced area on the rocks. I'm with a bunch of young guys and we all try to get over the chainlink fence, there is something in the center of the restricted area we all want to see. I'm able to climb over it with a fair amount of ease after looking at it for some time. Of the around 15 people only two or three can't make it over the fence right away. We look at the thing on the ground, some kind of weird mechanical device. We hear people coming and everyone jumps and climbs the fence. I'm able to get over quickly but see that two people can't climb the fence and escape, they're stuck in the enclosed area. I know I can run and dart into the woods like everyone else but I stay, I can't leave these guys behind. A bunch of middle-aged guys come there, fat and mustached, they look pretty ragged, and ask us what the hell we're doing. I nervously say we were interested in the device in the area and nothing more. We enter the enclosed space and look at the device. They are about to show one of the guys how to repair it. I quickly take a place by them to see how it's done. It turns out to be a rat trap a long line of wire comes out that is kept mechanically in place with a kind of clip. The rat eats the wire and it triggers a spring that breaks its neck. Dream 2: Going to Beat Up a Robot I'm in a machine shop with a teacher. He is taking apart a fairly complex machine with many gears and moving parts, I see he is looking at some drawings that have the complex assembly laid out, it is drawn in a dark, shadowy ink like something from Warhammer 40K. His intention is to fix a part that has worn down in it. I look around the small machine shop, it looks like a classroom, the large lathes and milling machines take up most of the space. Students are there also doing work with the machines. I try to get a peak at the drawing and machine the teacher is working on. There is a female student there as well looking at it. He mentions a few pieces need to be repaired and re-machined. I say I want the hardest one to fix, it better my skills. I hope he chooses me. There is a robot in the class, is it the programming for the CNC lathe? I only know it is menacing and needs to be defeated. I ask it how to make a mech exoskeleton, as if I was working for it. It says there is a suit in the back room. I enter teh dark, cluttered room and I see an exoskeleton like in Aliens. I see what need to be repaired but it looks of. I jump in and strap myself into it, There is little protection for my body but my legs and arms now control large hydraulic lifts. I walk into my class, ready for anything. I see a classmate is also wearing a suit, we fistbump our large metallic fists together. Walking down the class, the robot is gone. Dream 3: A Mysterious Machine and a Metro Tunnel After not finding the robot I join the rest of my class to a dark, windowless and cramped storage area. There is a caged area to our left. The teacher opens it. There is something there that is mysterious and odd, as if I can't make it out as it is so alien to normal life. I'm not sure if this is the impression I had in the dream or if it's just that I don't remember what it was. I get the sense that is was a mechanical device of some kind, but it was special, unique and weird. Were we to repair it or admire it? I leave and go to another class. I knock on the door and my old class is there, they are all by computers. Delicate white sunlight comes from the slightly shaded windows to the left. The computer classroom is also very cramped. Everyone is happy to see me, there are smiles and greetings. Everything is very vivid. I try to see if I can get a computer from somewhere and quietly work on my stuff. The small class has no computers free. A few students I know smile and ask how I'm doing. I'm in the central metro station. It feels like it's morning, many of the kiosks are not open. I walk around, I'm in a three piece suit. I see my dark reflection in a plexiglass window. This is just like my dream a few nights ago, I think to myself. (!) I see others from my class. They are also in suits and dresses, is this some kind of graduation event? Who or what are we all waiting for? I break from the rest of my class to see if there is a good place to put a sticker down, that way I can see it next time I'm here and realize I'm dreaming. (!!) I think of the metro area in the game Yume Nikki.
I've hidden a human girl in my room, and I'm trying to distract my "sister" so the human will have a chance to escape. It's not difficult - we don't get along at all, so it's easy to pick a fight. We both look and act like and possibly really are teenagers. I walk away from her, giving the impression that I want her to leave me alone, knowing that's the easiest way to make sure she'll follow me. Looking for a drink, I walk into a room where my "sister's" left a human girl lying semi-conscious on the floor. I hate her parties - I hate living here in general; it's like living in a frat house. That's part of why I want to help that human escape - I know she's been investigating us but I don't care, I really, really dislike these people. I haven't been here long, maybe a week, and I'm hoping my "father" will decide to move again soon. I pick up a nearly-empty bottle, take a drink - alcohol. I spit it out and pick up another bottle. I ask the semi-conscious girl, hey, is this my sister's drink? She doesn't answer me, and I wasn't really expecting her to. I drink it anyway. Yes, this one's my "sister's." I hate the taste of bottled blood, but it's what I'm used to. Keeping the bottle, I walk outside. The yard out back is huge, and ends in a fence with barbed and electric wires running along the top. As I'm walking along the edge of that fence, I come across a padlocked gate. It opens directly onto a dirt road, and on the other side of the road there's another gate - no locks on this one - opening onto a trail leading into the woods. There's something intensely familiar about this - it bothers me. I have the feeling I've seen this a long time ago, like some childhood memory. I say something about this to my "sister," but she doesn't see why that would bother me. As I'm trying to explain the odd feeling, I'm distracted by a sound from the other side of the fence, way off to our right. On the side of the fence opening directly onto the woods, there's two people who look like hikers trying to climb the fence and look inside. They're talking to each other cheerfully, wondering what they've come across and what the barbed wire's for - to keep something out or in? It's to keep you out, I tell him as I lean over the wires, grab him and smash his head against the wooden part of the fence. It's to keep them out for their own protection, otherwise this happens. My "sister" has taken the woman he was with. Then I hear voices from the woods - they weren't alone. While my "sister's" still busy with hers, I jump over the fence and run down the other three hikers. I find myself humming as I do so - when I've finished, I realize I'm thinking of the tune as an old drinking song from the 1800s. That's odd - I wasn't alive then, where do I know that song from? I have a vague impression of enjoying myself while singing that song in a situation much like this. I look at the hiker I'm still holding, and I think, just a little while ago I was having a conversation with someone killing a rabbit, and I'd said that it wasn't the death I objected to, it was the attitude behind it, the lack of respect. What a hypocrite I am.
There's a war going on between two factions working for two different higher powers - one called the Authority, the other called the Dark Ones. At the moment, I and two other people are untying a woman from a chair, she's been held captive. She's dressed like a candy striper. One of the people helping to untie her is a woman dressed in an old nurse's uniform; the other one is a man I've been working with. I'm explaining something that this man and I recently discovered - the Authority and the Dark Ones are the same entities. They're not divided at all, it's the exact same entities appearing to us under different names, playing us against each other. It's my intention to end the war by eliminating their influence over us. The woman in the nurse's uniform has this look of hate as I'm talking about all this. In the end she says, "I hope you win," but it sounds like a curse. She runs out into the street and throws herself backward onto a spiked iron fence, impaling herself. The woman we'd been untying screams "Laura!", the nurse's name. People come rushing out of the building next door, calling emergency services.
Spoiler for Random Intro: Wandering through gated back yards, jumping over fences, and looking for a bathroom, I find a downstairs apartment with the door wide open. I go inside, and shake the snow off my jacket before going any further and dripping it on the floor. But I shook it right into someone's shoes... That doesn't look so nice, so I leave, abandoning my search for the bathroom. There are an assortment of little beings that are all around me now, and no longer any snow on the ground. A few small children, two cats, and a goat are all in a circle on some green grass. They all appear to be trapped, and in danger if they stay inside this backyard maze of fences. I carry all of them over a fence except one cat. This cat is huge! I try to coax it to walk over on its own, but it is also a lazy cat. So, I pick it up, weighing well over 100 lbs, and carry it over the fence. There is another small animal, maybe a sheep, that also wants to escape. I lift the fence in the air slightly, and crawl underneath, motioning for the sheep to follow. It does, and pushes me out of the way, crawling through swiftly. On the other side of the fence, I am face to face with a giant bat. At least I think it's a bat. Looking right at me, drooling profusely, a nasty looking orange drool. It has small flexible fangs. It also has a very powerful venom. Not very good. Biting onto my arm, I feel that none of the fangs pierces my flesh, but I don't want to take any chances, so I wrestle it away, pushing its porcelain smooth beak away. Now holding it back by the beak, we stare at each other, both still pushing at the other. The beak is so smooth, I actually rather enjoy touching it. Kind of cold to the touch as well, and very colorful with swirls of reds, browns, and oranges all throughout the beak. The animal's owner comes by, and pulls him back by the shoulders. She tells me, "He's just hungry, sorry about that" Being sort of like a bat, I assume he eats bugs, so I tell them to hang on for a bit, while I find some food for him inside my house. There are no bugs... I go downstairs and ask my room mate if he has any bugs. "Of course I do buddy, here ya go." and he hands me a plastic bin. 'Great! Now I can feed this thing.' I dash upstairs, but looking inside the bin I just see a loaded gun, some batteries, loose change, a few lint balls, and random other odds and ends. I take all the bullets out of the gun and toss them separately into the bin, then ditch the gun as well. 'There's gotta be bugs around here somewhere' I go outside, and find a large group of rather juicy looking bugs on the window sill. They all look dead, but still meaty. I pick one up by the wings, a large green bug, and it starts to wiggle around a bit. 'Not quite dead yet!' so I put it back down on the window's edge. The rest of the bugs all have rigor mortis, so I know they are dead. I pile them all into my left hand and go back over to the bat creature. Somewhat human, but definitely more animal than person. I hold out my hand and he ravenously slurps them into his beak and chews them for a bit before swallowing them, followed by more drool around the edges of his beak. Quite gross. Seeing where I got the bugs from, he walks over and looks for more. Seeing the one I left behind because it was still alive, he goes in to eat it. I pray that the bug either is spared death, or dies well, whatever is meant to be... To my surprise, the previously lifeless but twitching bug now flies off, just out of reach of the bat creature, then shoots rapidly into the sky at what I assume is maximum bug speed. I help the bat-man (more bat than man) find more dead bugs to eat. Mostly dead moths that are stuck to loose boards on the side of the house, or in abandoned spider webs. The creature eats more of the wood than the bugs, just chewing on it, as he holds it like an ear of corn. Walking back to the front yard, his friend/caretaker person tells him it costs too much to feed him and he has to make some money himself if this is going to work. Bat-guy sits down on a bench looking rather dejected, as he stares down at his feet with his hands in his lap. I go up to him, pat him on the back and encourage him, "You'll be able to do something to make money, don't worry." He looks up to me as if saying, "Like what?" but with just his eyes. I answer, "You could always give massages to people" and we both start laughing. I see a smile return to his beak and hope in his eyes. "I didn't know you could understand me" I say, amidst more laughter, just thinking about this bat-guy giving people massages... He nods understandingly.
In return for something they did, ‘we’ were trying to help someone/thing become a centaur. We put it in a suit. “It’s a bit tight, but.” And set it off running. There was another centaur ‘riding’ on top of it, causing them to topple. [Actually looked more like a dinosaur.] The fake centaur passed by a bird creature as it ran…only it stopped, looked and saw that it was not a bird but another creature flapping its appendages and flying with some leaved branches. The fake centaur asked how it was doing that. We’re in a shack that might also be McDonalds or something and I’m making burgers based on what the guy there told me. We’re in an enclosement and on the way north I’d been looking for something along the fence. I come across a black device with a round button and click it. I see blue light twinkle around the enclosement’s edges. I go inside and say I found something. That’s when I hear a bark. We look out and an ominous air gets thicker and thicker as we listen. I can practically see creatures coming towards us. They tell me to turn it back on and I do. I hope in the minutes it was off, nothing got out. I remember seeing a car or something pass outside on the left. We wonder how to fight if needed. Someone (maybe the guy there) says, “Magic, of course”. I had forgotten that that’s how we fight since we didn’t have weapons. Inspirations: I had just read the Homestuck comic ‘Hunting Lesson’, watching Aliens?, my fan clicker, I’ve had a few other fence dreams inspired by the place I used to live, reading an article on how to make goo hamburger patties

I stayed up two hours later than usual with a friend the night before last, so only recalled a fragment that night. Dream: A man is running through a field, He, Varric, finds that a silver stone structure is still there. There was a moving contraption up top, along with overgrown foliage. The ‘camera’ pans over to some small stone structures (I think, 'of course they were made by dwarves'), and a gravesite with about eight graves with markers. I read: Dizzy, Logi, You— I pause at that last one, wondering if it’s ‘You’ as in the viewer, or as in the Japanese name. I also stopped before Logi, stumbling over the name, and thinking that his body actually couldn’t be there, because he’s nearly impossible to kill. I wonder what it was like for him to wake up (come out of the grave) in this place. I’m going through these square, fenced in spaces, where the only way to get out properly is to leap over sections of the fence. There are small Stop signs mounted at top right of the section that’s safe to jump. Other ‘heroes’ were doing the same. I caught a girl’s eye and nodded at her. A part of me wondered if I was supposed to know her. She didn’t look familiar (IWL). I laughed when I hear (and somehow see) from behind me Spider-Man jokingly asking an African-American police guard if he’d remove his mask. The man replied “that’s not my thing’. A really short, small girl flies back after trying to leap the fence but getting poked in the butt instead. She rolls across the grass and I can’t help but laugh. Her figure reminded me of Kabeyama. I see that she’s wearing a light yellow shirt with Kabayama’s face upside down on the back of it. A girl cringes as I reply to something, ‘but don’t get the fence stuck in your butt!’. As I said this, I was picking out two pieces of sharp fence from my thigh. Inspiration: I watched some gameplay videos for Dragon Age: The Inquisition recently so that’s where Varric comes from! Last night, me and mom were talking about how movies do in other countries, and she mentioned Wolverine, so that’s where ‘Logi’ comes from. The girl/Kabeyama comes from the last episode of Inazuma Eleven I watched, Kabeyama had more screentime because he was struggling. I think the stone structure and gravesite actually could have come from the book I started last night, The Book of Earth (Dragon Quartet #1). Notes: I got deja vu after thinking through the dream, I’m pretty sure I’ve had a dream in the past where I was hopping fences, during some sports event. Emotion: Humor

Basically, I've become too busy to lay still long enough (without thinking about my day) to remember the full length robust dreams I was enjoying when I last wrote. I've really wanted to record a number of them, but haven't seemed to find the time. I know for a fact that I have had a number of extremely vivid dreams that I forgot all but a single moment of. I try not to beat myself up about it, but it's annoying... I do recall 4-dreams in great deal, two I recorded in audio format. This is a L.D. that went unrecorded. Originally, I remembered additional elements. DILD - I was having another dream about Steff and Eric, except this time they were normal. Eric looked older and more nerdy than what seemed possible. I was telling Steff on an empty downtown (see Dream: 036 Deep into Dream City) street corner: "Steff, I dream about you all the time. Now you are finally here for real." He gave me an awkward look which caused me to do a reality test. I jumped into the air about 10ft and flew down the street faster than a motorcycle. Lucid, I flew close to ground level speeding through the city. I reached this one high fence and I decided to fly to the top, rotate to face the sky, and fly backwards to ground level. I don't remember ever trying this before. Something weird happened: After I completed the rotation to face the sky, and while flying backward I automatically rolled before I hit the ground and oriented to face forward. It happened so quickly it was like a cat landing on it's feet. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it crossed my mind I might hit the ground or get stuck.

June 20, 2011 Unshifting first person perspective Lots of earlier dreams I don't remember. Compass directions are abbreviated and in parentheses. Location details: Some places there's snow, and some places there's grass. I'm standing on an asphalt road of sorts. Behind me (e), it dips down and a little south and becomes a parking lot in front of a recreation center. To the left (s), it becomes a gravel road with a chain-link fence on its right (w) side. On the other side of the fence is a field of some sort of short, green plant. Maybe alfalfa. In front of me (w), the road goes off into the distance. On its right (n) side is a rise, on which is a cottage. On the left (s) side is a pavilion about 20x20 and 30 feet away. Next to that is another chain-link fence running east to west with a pipeline behind it. Next to that is ANOTHER chain link fence, which meets the one running along the road to my left (s) at the corner of the field. The Subaru dad drove us here in (apparently) is parked by the pavilion. I walk over between the two east-to-west fences and notice that the snow around the pipeline is packed down hard by innumerable footprints. Not bootprints, but footprints. This startles me for a minute, yet somehow I know that the footprints come from a boyscout hike. My dad (where did he come from?) walks over to me and say "You know they" and used some term I can't recall to say that the boy scouts hiked in the snow nude to build resistance or something. 'Whatever' I thought to myself. We walk/run along the north fence and around the pavilion, and when we get back on the road, it's night. Dad goes over to where he parked the car and can't find it for a minute because it's now buried under a snow drift, even though the road doesn't have a spot of snow on it. As he's brushing it off, RD, a friend from 5th grade, rushes past me, down the hill, and into the rec center. I call to her as she's running, but she can't hear me. Dad comes back over and asks if that was RD, and I confirm that. He wonders (as I do) why she is there (and I didn't do an RC), until she comes back out of the building, walking quickly. I call out to her, and this time she notices me and stops. I ask if I can come with her, and she considers it, but I wake up before she can answer.
