      1- Getaway Car
I am living in a mansion with my haughty mother who expects me to be perfect for the party we are throwing. However, I have learned that some unknown villain wishes me harm, so I spend the entire party sneaking around and spying on people. My pursuer is no one at the party, as I find out. He is a very powerful magic user. If it weren't for the help of Alice (from Resident Evil), I would never have made it out alive.

I become separated from my rescuer and must now go solo. ((I end up going on this super long quest that I unfortunately only remember bits and pieces of.))

      *lapse in time*

My point of view flashes to a man walking around in a greenhouse. He is examining some plants that have been psychicly altered and is contemplating eating them. Suddenly the man's face is torn off, by a friend who had been possessed by the evil magician after me.

I flash back to myself. I have made a pit stop at my Aunt's house for supplies. For some reason I get in my car from the passenger's side, and am crawling through to the driver's side. Suddenly my Aunt hijacks the car and starts laughing like an evil maniac. I panic for an instant, believing that she has been possessed. Then she laughs normally and asks, "How could you possibly think I was evil? I'm hurt."

"I don't have time for this!" I mutter, taking the driver's seat and shutting the door. "Goodbye." Suddenly, the evil magician walks up with a little boy. He hands the child a gun and tells him to point it at me and pull the trigger. Before I can get the car started, I have a bullet through my arm. It hurts, but not as bad as I would have expected. The boy tries to shoot me again, but the trigger jams. He looks down the barrel of the gun and experimentally pulls the trigger. His brains blow out the back of his head.

I drive off as fast as I can, ducking low as more shots come.

My pov flashes to this spider lady. She is facing the evil magician, who appears to be working for her. "Tell me," she says in a seductive voice, "Do you find me attractive in this form, or am I grotesque to you?" The man stammers incoherently. "Be honest," she murmurs.

Back to myself as I stop at a cafe of some sort. I walk inside, ending up at a wall painted with strange creatures and odd phrases. Near the bottom of the wall was the phrase "Paper due. Sad day." Beside it was a picture of a hotdog with a face, sticking its tongue out. After examining the wall with some amusement, I turn the corner into a secluded area where Alice is waiting for me. "I thought I might find you here," I say, sitting down at one of the booths. Apparently we had met here sometime in the past.

"Of course," she answers. "I couldn't leave without you."

One of the waitresses (the one who "usually" waits on us) is sitting nearby. I examine the bullet wound on my arm--- it isn't as bad as I would have expected. Must have just grazed me. "What happened to your arm?" Alice asks me, her eyes intense.

      "I was shot."

The waitress obviously thinks I'm joking. "Did you cut yourself with those long fingernails?"

"I was shot," I say again, this time more forcefully, "by a two year old. Who then proceeded to shoot himself in the head."

Much to my disappointment, I awaken at this point.

    2. In Night's Lair

      In Night's Lair
I manage to get on the bad side of a dark King, and am suffering the consequences. Due to the influence of the King's creepy shadow creatures, my cat gets trampled by a mob of hysteric civilians. Fortunately, I manage to get them off of her with minimal damage.

She is, however, injured. From the looks of the way she's limping, I think her hip is broken. I tell my dad that we should get her to the vet immediately. She disagrees. First she points out that it's only her paw, not her hip, and that she can wait until I am out of danger. (I do not find it a bit odd that she's speaking; I seem to think that it's quite normal.) I don't have time to object, as I'm suddenly whisked away to the Null Chamber. (Obviously I play too much zOMG.)

A lot of people on my friend's list are there for some reason; one of them has screwed something up and gotten us all stuck. Somehow they all manage to teleport out, leaving me unable to do so. Hmph.

I don't fancy being stuck in the Null Chamber for the rest of my life, so I begin looking for an alternate means back out. Finally I find a secret door, which leads me into the Realm of Shadows; a place I definitely do not need to be in.

Sure enough, the King's shadow creatures are there, very aware of my presence. After a fairly short chase, they've got me cornered. I am perched atop some tall bookshelves, with nowhere to go. A very tall, very fat, very strong creepzoid approaches, smirking at me evilly. I had gotten him in trouble with the King towards the beginning of the dream; it is obvious he is about to get his revenge.

Then, out of nowhere, I am grabbed by the wrist and jerked into another dimension. I see, much to my surprise, that my rescuer is the Queen. (Though not MY Queen...) We are running up a staircase, our haste tinged with desperation. I realize that we are in the Castle. Couldn't she have brought me to a safer place than this???

She practically throws me into her private chambers and tells me that she'll be back as soon as she can. Then she shuts the door, and I am alone. I immediately begin searching for a hiding place. I see that she has a door to the Null Chamber in her closet; that will probably be my best bet if the King comes searching.

As I am crawling around, looking for other suitable hiding places, I see that I am being watched by one of the maids. How did she get in here without me noticing!? "Please," I say, but I can see the hunger in her eyes. She knows she will be rewarded greatly for alerting the King to my whereabouts.

She runs out of the room. I am now watching a cut scene of the Queen running frantically back to her room, trying to reach me before the King does. As I watch, I note true concern in her face and I wonder why she cares so much. I can hear the King's voice close behind her, saying that it's about time he got another queen.

Everyone bursts into the room all at once. There is no point in hiding; I will stand and fight honorably, even though the odds are stacked against me.

      ★★★★☆

      12/29/10

The shop is open to the street, choked with dust kicked up by the people and horses bustling by on the busy dirt road. A woman with short, strawberry blonde hair arranges the merchandise at the front of the stall. Her movements are quick, angry, but she looks tired. The heat and the dust and the people and the fact that she's working for nothing for someone else are wearing at her patience and her sanity. I am that woman.

A man walks by. I have time to register that he's tall and handsome, with longish dark brown hair, before he's brushing by me. He stops long enough to whisper, "I'm taking the harmonica back. Are you with me?" I've never met the man, but I'm nodding and setting things down, moving away into the street, my movements perfectly synchronized with his.

The mark is looking at silverware two stalls down. I'm threading through the crowd as he shows off the silver harmonica. I'm tapping him on the shoulder, smiling as he turns around and we chat about the silverware on display. He's waving the harmonica over his shoulder, and the first man, the thief, snatches it from his hand. The mark turns to shout, and I'm brushing by, cutting the strings on his purse.

We run. Through the countryside, on the uneven ground of the foothills. I thought we were safe, thought we'd outrun our pursuers hours ago, but arrows are raining down on us and the horses are hot on our heels.

I'm hit. The arrow pierces through just below my ribcage, and I feel the blood soak through my shirt. I fall behind, am left stumbling through the brush. The dogs are quieter now, and I take refuge beneath the roots of a giant tree.

At the bottom of the hollow are three doors, each small enough to crawl through. I pull out the small leather pouch I stole earlier and turn it over. A key falls into my hand. This key will open any lock in the dreamworld, a voice whispers in my mind. Smiling, calm, heedless of the wound on my side (suddenly much, much younger) I drop to the moss-covered ground and slide the key into the lock.

      Thievery. Scare Factor: 3.

Isn't that the perfect amount of obvious symbolism for the guys in the Dream Interpretation forum?

    4. 12/12/10 Escape From Azkaban

by , 12-14-2010 at 04:26 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
I am outside of the Hogwarts grounds, looking around to see how I had gotten there and where exactly I am. I am not immediately lucid, so I don't remember my goals. I look around to see if I can figure things out, but the idea that I am dreaming never quite occurs to me. So I am wandering down the road leading away from Hogwarts when I hear someone behind me calling me Raven, and sounding a bit impatient, or more than a bit impatient… I turn around to see someone coming towards me who looks exactly like Draco Malfoy, the older Draco from the end of the Harry Potter series rather than the kid from the beginning. He asks what I am doing, he says he thought I was going to get his father out of Azkaban, or was I just bullshitting when I said I could do that? He says he didn't think there was any way I could get anyone out of Azkaban… not with all those dementors around it! Him mentioning my goals makes me think of dreaming, so I do a RC and I discover I am dreaming…

I look over at Draco, who is looking at me with an expression I can't quite read, I figure he had been hoping I would really be able to get Lucius out of Azkaban, but isn't surprised at the idea I can't. I tell him I am going to get Lucius out of Azkaban, but timing is everything. I am not sure why I decide to do it this way, but I don't even look to find a place that is hidden from Draco before going through the whole Sailor Moon transformation… "Cosmic moon power!" Sailor Moon's crescent moon wand forms in my hand as a lot of lights surround me and I change into Sailor Moon, I tell a shocked Draco that the dementors are moon dusted, and then teleport away from the place, focusing on teleporting to a spot close to the prison known as Azkaban.

I appear in the new location and look around to see exactly what the situation is. The area is dark and desolate, though it doesn't look like the area around the Azkaban prison as depicted in the movies. Instead it looks more like one of the fortresses in the world of Oblivion from the video game with the same name. I look over to the dark towers, there are dementors circling the towers, it looks like a flock of demented birds, or a swarm of mutant insects circling their hive. It isn't a small place, I wonder how I am supposed to find Lucius in there when I have no clue where he might be. I'll have to follow my instinct, or maybe… they do allow visitors there, so maybe Sailor Moon wasn't the best form right now… I transform in to Narcissa Malfoy and then continue approaching the prison.

The guards at the entrance to the prison aren't dementors, fortunately, they are actual witches and wizards, they are people. I wonder how they are able to handle being around so many dementors, I would think there would be a very negative effect from that. How they are able to handle the direct exposure to the dementors isn't important, what was important was finding Lucius as quickly as possible. I could feel the cold energy from the dementors, but I just block it with a field of light energy. I speak to one of the wizards there, he wants to know who I am and who I am there to see, he seems about as interested in that information as he is interested in seeing a naked dementor, but I tell him that I am Narcissa Malfoy and I am there to see my husband, Lucius Malfoy. The wizard looks at something he has in his hands, I can't see what it is, but then he says to follow him. He summons a patronus that takes the form of a white Rottweiler and the white dog trots along beside us as I follow the wizard into the prison of Azkaban. There sure are a lot of cells in there, and it would have been very difficult to find a specific person in there, especially with all of the unstable dark energy coming off of the dementors. The guard unlocks a door that looks the same as every other door on the hall and motions me into the room beyond. There is a dim white glow in there, the guard says the shield doesn't keep the effect of the dementors completely out, so if I stay for very long, I should expect the usual reaction to being around dementors. I go into the cell he has unlocked, he shuts the door immediately behind me and locks it again. I wonder how I am supposed to get his attention when I want out… oh, well. That isn't important since I'm not leaving in the same manner I got in.

I look around the small cell, it is definitely no place to spend much time, and Lucius is over in one corner sitting there doing absolutely nothing since there is really nothing to do. He finally looks up at me, and he looks surprised to see me, he says I shouldn't have come here, he told me not to come, not around all the dementors, he says I need to go back and make sure Draco is ok… with the mention of Draco, the field of light gets briefly brighter, but the brightness doesn't last for long. I remember that I am still disguised as Narcissa, I have no desire to play her role any longer, so I tell Lucius I am not who I appear to be… and then I transform back into Sailor Moon. Lucius is staring at me in surprise now, he asks what I have come for, I tell him I am there to stage a prison break, of course. He is looking at me as if he thinks I am crazy, he says no one has ever escaped form Azkaban before… I say then we'll be the first… so are you ready to go, or do you want to hang around here for a bit longer? He says of course he is ready to go, so I use my crescent moon wand to cut through the prison door, then we step out into the hallway. Of course that doesn't go unnoticed. I tell Lucius to stay close to me, there are dementors approaching from both directions in the hallway. I summon my patronus, which takes the form of a large white panther, and the panther stays by our side as I lead Lucius towards what I can sense is the outer wall of the prison.

There is an alarm sounding in the prison now, and there is a lot more resistance now that our escape has been announced to the entire prison. My patronus is still keeping many of the dementors at bay, but now I add blasts of energy from my crescent moon wand to clear the dementors from our path. Lucius is saying something about now there's no way we'll get out, every dementor in the place will be coming down on us, he seems to think I must be completely insane when I say if every dementor in the place wants to attack, bring it on. There is a voice from a cell to my right, someone is saying Lucius' name, Lucius looks in and says it's Bellatrix Lestrange.

She says she wants us to take her with us if we are escaping, Lucius says the dark lord would be pleased to have her by his side again. I use magic to unlock the cell door, then I crack it open just enough to look into the cell, I tell Bellatrix to come a bit closer, so I can see her better, she is instantly in my face trying to push through the crack I have opened. I look at her eyes, for any sign of a spark, but all I am able to see is darkness… is there anything in there at all? She asks what I am doing, move so she can get out, Lucius says we need to get moving. I give one more look at Bellatrix, I am still unable to sense a spark of any kind, so I agree with Lucius that we need to get going, but not with her. I shut the door forcibly on Bellatrix and lock it with magic, leaving it the same way I found it. Bellatrix is now screaming like a banshee, any semblance of sanity is gone completely, Lucius asks what I am doing, the dark lord would want her out. I ask what makes him think I am trying to help Voldemort… he gasps a bit that I have said the name… I lead Lucius down the hall to the end then up some stairs for a few levels, where I use my wand to blast a hole in the ceiling, which is the very top of the tower.

I step out onto the top of the tower with Lucius, and the situation doesn't look good. There are dementors surrounding the tower, so many dementors that they are blocking out the sky, and there are three wizards also waiting on top of the tower. I can tell Lucius thinks my escape plan was ill-conceived, and if I was an ordinary witch from a Harry Potter world, it would have indeed been very ill-conceived. The wizard wants to know who I am, he says if we surrender now, we will both be taken into custody… but if we resist, then it will most certainly be the kiss of the dementors for us. "Kiss a dementor?" I ask, "I'd sooner kiss the south end of a north bound blast-ended skrewt! Or Valdemort! I'd sooner kiss Voldemort!" The guard looks shocked that I spoke the name Voldemort, but then he says we haven't got a chance to escape. Lucius says we will go peacefully, I say the wizard should go fuck himself, Lucius says to not take the chance if receiving the dementors' kiss… I repeat that I'd rather kiss Voldemort… have you seen one of those things without its hood? They do the world a favor to wear those robes… I tell the wizards I can't say it's been a nice visit… it hasn't… but we will be leaving now. I go to the edge of the tower, pulling Lucius along with me, and take out my crescent moon wand. It's a spell I already had planned, though I don't remember seeing it used in Sailor Moon… "Moonlight Illumination!"

My crescent moon wand glows with a blinding light, sending spirals of light outward towards the swarms of dementors… The dementors who are hit are set on fire and disappear in a blinding flash of white flame, the other dementors are scattering in all directions to avoid the light energy. I maintain the flow of energy until the path in front of us is entirely free of dementors.

I decide maybe I have done enough of the impossible right in front of Lucius for right now, at least, so I actually summon a broom to fly on… because right now Lucius is pulling a very good imitation of Homer Simpson, staring out where the dementors had been, he has a blank and dumb look on his face.

The same can be said of the three wizard guards, but that is no matter to me. I actually bop Lucius on the head with the end of the broom to get his attention, you do know how to fly on this, right? He says of course he does, so I give him that one and summon another one for me, tell him to stay right on my tail, then take off, heading through the area I just recently vacated of dementors. Lucius follows me, and once we are far enough away from the prison that I am sure nothing nasty will follow us, I open a portal while focusing on going straight to the Malfoy Manor. I fly right through the portal, Lucius is right behind be, so he couldn't have stopped if he had noticed and wanted to.

Doing the rest of the task I had set out to do in this dream is a simple matter, I stop long enough at Malfoy Manor to pick up Narcissa, I tell them that there isn't much time to get them both to safety. I then open a portal to the edge of Hogsmede, where we are able to walk to the Three Broomsticks and avoid more attention. We find Draco in the back corner of the place, sitting at the table with a butterbeer, and he clearly looks shocked to see the three of us. I know I am about to wake up… I tell them there isn't much time now, I can arrange a longer visit later, but now we have to go. I tell Draco I'll see him back at Hogwarts, then I lead his parents to a back room, actually more of a closet, where Q is waiting for me. I tell Lucius and Narcissa that Q will take them to a safe house, but I am going to be unable to stay right now… and then I wake up.
    5. The Dream of the Escape from the Island and the Introduction into a Secret Society Bank

      by , 12-07-2010 at 12:31 PM (Folqueraine's Oniric List)
I was on Belle Isle island and I was wanted by the evil authorities, so I had to flee, but I knew that if I took the ferry they would catch me easily, so I had to find another way. A relative told me of a fisherman who often took people to the mainland, so I went to the beach and found him. His ship was really a small rowing boat. He agreed to take me to the mainland and didn't even ask for compensation. Thanks to him, I crossed to and fro Belle Isle many times.
Later, I was in my grandparents house, which is on the peninsula closest to Belle Isle. I had taken a clandestine cat with me from Belle Isle and I had to hide his presence from my relatives, but for some reason the cat had to stay outside in the front yard, so every time my aunt came out I had to go and shoo the cat away so she wouldn't see it.
Later again, me and my friend/crush John managed to get introduced into a secret branch of my bank. But then, we had to get out to spread information to other underground resistance members. We had pretended to be a couple, so stay in character I hugged him and kissed him on the cheek and he was all embarrassed, saying something like: "You've done enough now!"

      "Invasion Evasion"

(I watched Skyline, for the first time, last night. It was an 'ok' movie, but the visual effects were tight as hell.)
The earliest thing I remember was being in a camp-like atmosphere, with a few friends, in a trailer. Someone had a dog; like a lab mix or something, and I was playing with her, rubbing her belly. After a short while, the dog began to get really agitated and started glaring at the door. Some creepy shit happened, where a person came to the door and then turned into an alien, and we had to escape the trailer. I believe we pushed the creature into the bonfire and burned it, but this part is all really hazy. Soon after, I was alone, and running through the streets. The major attack had already begun, and there were larger aliens - dozens of stories tall - walking amongst the buildings and roadways. The city was completely destroyed and, no matter where I went or tried to hide, these things would always find me. The creatures that were too big to fit inside the buildings, would send out these long tentacles (like the ones in the movie), and snake them through the buildings to find me. I ended up dying, over and over, in this dream. Every time the tentacles would find me, they would either pull me back into the main body of the alien, or just splatter me all over the place, wherever I had been hiding.

After respawning a couple of times, I knew I had to get out of the city, so I began to make a bee-line toward the edge of town, sprinting as long and hard as my body would allow me - and I remember being able to run for miles, without losing steam. But these tentacles were relentless. An alien could shoot the tentacles from its "hand", and the rope-like appendages would literally travel for miles - seemingly to endless distances - through the air, to chase their target. Again, I died quite a few times, while trying to escape the city; simply respawning again at the beginning and continuing to run, taking another route. There were times that I would try to steal cars, and some of them would have this "gunk" on them. Whenever I drive those cars, the "gunk" would begin to spread around the outside of the vehicle, trying to 'cocoon' itself in this alien sludge. I would see this happening and have to bail out of the car, before it completely encased me. What's more, is that some of these droplets of "gunk" would actually spring to life, and form whole aliens - each maybe 10 feet tall and built like bipedal elephants - which would then join the chase. Running from these things kind of felt like maneuvering through the game Prototype.

It was like I was the only person in the city, and this entire alien force was centered on me, the whole time. There were just so many of them, and I was beginning to feel hopeless. After having to repeat this scenario, over and over, upon each death, I just wasn't feeling very confident that I would ever get out of this Hell. Suddenly, thankfully, just as despair was kicking in, I realized that this all had to be a dream. I was still on the run, though, as these things just weren't letting up, and anytime they would catch me, they would just annihilate me before I could do anything about it. Still respawning after each death, I took to flying, instead of running. It took me a little while to get up to speed, in my flying, as this dream was very vivid, and I was having a hard time manipulating it. I tried some telekinesis on the pursuing tentacles, but wasn't able to affect them.

Once I got the hang of flying, though, the flight/chase sequences were absolutely sick. The easiest way I knew to keep my speed up, was to imagine myself as a missile. The thing was, though, that these tentacles were just as fast, so just because I could fly, didn't mean that I was getting out of the city an easier. I was empowered by my lucidity, though, and was more having fun with it, than frantically fleeing for my life. I weaved through the city at breakneck speed, an expanding trail of tentacles, following closely behind me. It was one of those zigging, zagging, dizzying, high-tech chases that you would see in any major, sci-fi blockbuster - just screaming through the sky, with impossible agility. Sometimes I would land on the street, to gain my bearings - pivoting and then launching off in another direction, just as the tentacles whipped passed me and then arced around to follow once again. I remember being chased at just the same height of some of the tallest rooftops, and then dropping toward the ground, head first, to try to throw off the oncoming appendages. I was going so fast that there was a single moment, there, where I worried about 'what happens if I'm not able to pull up, in time?' Even though I knew that I was dreaming, I wasn't really looking to slamming headfirst, into the street, so I pulled up on my own trajectory, as I could, nearly skimming the ground and then continuing to rocket down the street, the tentacles still keeping pace at every twist and turn. I also recall that the aliens could talk, and they all spoke with the same voice - as if it were a collective consciousness - which reminded me something of the Joker, from The Dark Knight.

I don't really remember whether or not I ever made it out of the city. I don't think so, though.

      12/3/10 - Parting Kiss
      Dream Non-Dream Lucid

I was in my school with a bunch of other kids, late at night. I didn't know any of them except for this cute blond guy around my age; I think I had a crush on him or something.
Apparently we were locked in for some unknown reason, and everyone was pretty much cool with it except me because there was somewhere else I had to be.
I snuck off from the group and made my way towards the school gate to try and get out. The blonde guy followed me.
There were some obstacles or security of some sort that we had to get through, I don't really remember, but by the time we got to the gate we had some romantic moments or something. Again, I don't remember.
So at the gate, he helped me pry it open and I just barely slipped through. The gate then snapped back into place and he was unable to move it again.
I was outside, he was inside. I asked if I'd ever see him again, and he said, "I don't know, but here's something to remember me by," and we kissed through the bars of the gate.
After we parted, I ran off down the dark street and woke up.

...because burning them just isn't dramatic enough.

      11/18/10

A sleek metal bridge extends over the choppy sea. I stand near the center, unable to see the shores on either side, obscured as they are by mist. Rain lashes out in sheets and the wind impedes my movement - block, parry, slash - as I slice through an imperial guard with my lightsaber.

Something is speeding towards me, about to impact. I catch the missile with Force Grip, send it spinning into an enemy tank. There's a bridge running parallel to this one, and stormtroopers are setting up missile launchers on the edge. They fire -

A wave of my hand sends them careening back into the shooters.

A spider-like droid, twice my height, uses the distraction to scuttle towards me, using its legs as blades. I dodge, jump over the droid and land a glancing blow to its head. Its head swivels towards me as it prepares for another run.

A purge trooper takes a swipe at me. It misses, barely, and I go on the offensive with a flurry of lightsaber strikes. Seconds later, it collapses to the ground, spent.

I keep a wary eye on the spider droid, but it's smarter to take out the smaller enemies first.

...and I'm skating down a barely frozen river. I'm on skis, I'm on a toboggan, I'm holding on to some sort of ski lift as it takes me up, no, down the river.

And I'm stealing some sort of precious coffee grounds. Or beans. One big pile, holding together only because it doesn't occur to me that they shouldn't.

And I'm running through a house, up stairs and through hallways and secret passages.

This room, says a voice, my voice, Was created by my father as a haven for me. No one else can enter it. And I'm laying down behind the couch so that no one can see me through the window in the door.

And then I'm me, for just a moment. I look at the door and I smirk, knowing that the family that's following me will find me, only because that's what I'm expecting. I don't care. It's a dream, and not a particularly awful one. I just want to rest and not think and play through whatever game my subconscious is dreaming up...

I wake up to the family pounding on the door, yelling. I pick myself up from the ugly, floral brown couch and pad across the room. I open a closet door methodically, pull a gun from the rack.

I'm standing in front of the door, holding a crossbow at the ready, pointing through the window. The banging has stopped, and the father asks me if I'm really going to shoot his son.

Everything's all right. The gun's not even loaded.

      Exploding Bridges. Scare Factor: 2/10

As an interesting aside, I have not played the game that the picture is from. Before today, I have not seen any pictures or previews, so you can imagine my surprise when I come across an actual spider-like droid from Force Unleashed II, which the dream was based on.

      Granted, mine had more legs.
    9. 11/01/10 Wolf Assassins: Escape!

by , 11-07-2010 at 04:01 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
As I enter my WILD, I find myself in a prison cell. There is nothing of special note about the place, it looks like a typical dungeon prison cell from some kind of a medieval or RPG world or something like that. I look at the door, it is locked securely from the outside, so there is no way I can open it up. I wonder how I am supposed to get out of there. I am messing around and I realize I am dressed as an Assassin, so I check and find my hidden blade is present. I have no other weapons. I wait for a bit, listening by the door, and finally I hear someone out there. I pound on the door, demanding someone come in there immediately, I figure it doesn't matter who it is. If it's a friend, I'll be glad to see them. If it's an enemy, they'll be sorry they met me. I wait a bit more and then there are keys in the door, it opens. A thug comes inside, it is pretty clear he is a thug, and he definitely doesn't look friendly. He pulls out a knife and says if I don't shut up he'll give me something to scream about. I say he wouldn't dare, he's alone. No one there to save him. He says he could handle me well enough, since I don't even have any weapons. I laugh to myself as he says that and tell him to prove it. He comes towards me, and I activate my hidden blade right as he arrives. He has a shocked look on his face as he is stabbed, he collapses to the ground and dies.

I don't have to look much to find the keys he had used to get into my cell, I take them since I am not sure if I might need them on my way out. I put my hidden blade away and peek out the door of my cell, there are surely more guards around there. There is one guard walking away from my cell on patrol. He turns around the corner and disappears, so I look quickly around one more time and head in his direction. I peek around the corner and see he is coming in my direction, patrolling back, so I lie in wait and greet him with a hidden blade to the gut… he dies. I make my way through the passages silently, though I am not sure when someone will find the bodies I am leaving in my wake. There is a locked door at the end of the hall, one of my keys fits it. I open it up just a crack and look in there to see there are some things on the table in the room as well as three guards. But that's ok… one of those things on the table is my sword! One of the guards is right next to the door… perfect… When I feel ready, I open the door quickly, slamming it into the guard by the door, vaulting over him as he is falling down to imbed my hidden blade in the throat of the guard across the table… that move must have looked pretty cool… I grab my sword from the table and run it through the third guard, cutting the one I knocked over as I spin back. There are now three dead guards in the room and I have my sword.

There are other items there, as well. I see a staff of some kind which I pick up, a strange book of some kind, and a small bag of something I don't take the time to examine. I pick up everything, I don't know who it belongs to, but I am certain it doesn't belong to these idiots here… I leave the room into an open area, a courtyard of some kind. I look around before completely entering the courtyard. There are several places to hide in the courtyard, and I think I can make it to the far gate without being seen. So I start making my way across, going from one area of cover to the next, using the night to cover my movements. I reach a spot about half way to the exit when I hear something, it sounds like an angry animal. I look around and see there is a wolf… or some kind of wolf animal, looks very large even for a wolf, and very pissed off. The assholes who had me locked up have the animal chained up on some rather short chains. I decide that is unacceptable, so I will release the wolf before leaving the compound. I'm not going to leave anyone chained up here.

I quietly go over to where the animal is chained, and it lunges in my direction. I wonder if the wolf will be able to understand what I'm there to do or if it will think I'm one of the enemies. I try to calm the wolf down, I tell the wolf that I am there to help, I will get those chains off, just don't attack me. The wolf does seem to understand that, so I go over there and unlock one of the chains that is holding the wolf. The wolf doesn't wait any longer for me to unlock the second chain, rather it pulls the second chain hard and breaks it before heading off across the courtyard. The wolf is making a lot of noise and commotion, which gets the attention of practically every guard in the place. The guards first look shocked that the wolf is free, then they look terrified of that, then they look dead after they get torn apart by teeth and claws… I watch the carnage for a bit until the wolf gets to a point where I won't be able to see it any more. The wolf looks back at me, I'd swear it shot a knowing nod off in my direction, then is gone from sight. The sounds of more carnage come from that direction. Now that there is no more benefit from secrecy, I take out my sword and take the direct route out the nearest exit and into the forest, cutting through three guards as I go.

I am hidden in the forest, I sit down to rest for a couple minutes. I am wondering if the wolf sure got out safely. I didn't see that it would be a problem considering what had happened to the guards I saw get torn apart. I am sitting there when I hear a sound from farther away in the forest. I hear something that sounds like growling, a couple sounds like a yelp, some growling that sounds suspiciously close to expletives, and finally a thud. Wtf? I wonder if something happened… I follow the sounds for a bit, making my way through the forest until I woke up.
    10. #164. Catch Me If You Can

by , 10-19-2010 at 07:14 AM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
      ★★★☆☆

Four hours of sleep, and suddenly this monstrosity comes along. It's fairly disjointed; I don't have a whole lot of time to play with it, so without further ado...

      10/18/10

Harry Potter tries to mess with the fabric of reality, I have diabolical plans, and Dumbledore disapproves as usual.

"Just think about it," I tell her. "With this kind of breakthrough, we could completely alter the way humans perceive reality!"

Sophie looks up at me, skeptical, one hand keeping her place in the textbook. She's holding a pen in her other hand, and she taps it impatiently against her notebook. She pushes a few strands of short red hair out of her eyes, and says, "I know what happens when you try to play mad scientist, Harry."

We're sitting across from each other at a long wooden table. Sophie's studying - this is a library, after all. The interior is almost entirely decorated with red-stained wood, giving the impression of a highly modern, really big log cabin. With lots and lots of glass (and books). Sunlight streams in from the huge windows, and outside is a view of the forest, and the other school buildings in the clearing.

"Chaos, generally." I say, grinning. Some of the other students notice that I'm grinning, and quietly begin to edge away from us. "You say that like it's a bad thing."

      skip

There's this thing I have to do on the computer. It's very important. I'm sitting outside on the green grass, trying to do this very important thing, when - hey, will you look at that? Dumbledore's on Skype!

Albus Dumbledore appears in a new window, looking very grave indeed. This is somewhat offset by all of the spinning and twirling metal gadgetry on his desk.

"Harry," says Dumbledore gravely, "I've received word of the research you've begun."

"Really?" I say, looking up from Minesweeper. "Brilliant, isn't it?"

He sighs. "Harry," he repeats, "This is not a road you cannot walk down unscathed. You'll be returning to Hogwarts."

      "Um..." I say slowly, "No."

      "By force, if necessary."

      My computer pings.

"Did you just -" I say, looking at the screen, "Did you just track my location through my internet connection? You realize I'm on a different PLANET? How the hell does that even -"

But Dumbledore's appearing at the edge of the wards, walking into the school grounds the only way he can. I meet his eyes for just a moment, and I disapparate.

      skip

Moving through Ixburg, and I'm running. I'm moving through a jobsite, people from my hometown who were, apparently, in direct competition with my family's business. By some sort of mutual agreement, they all ignore my presence, and I pass through completely unnoticed.

Back doors of the grocery store and I'm having a conversation with someone before I disappear again -

Narcissa Malfoy. We're standing in some anonymous hallway of a starship, looking out into the black.

"I don't disapprove of your cutting his influence out of your life," she's saying, "But I'm not convinced that making an enemy of Dumbledore will be conducive to your goals."

"There are greater forces at work here. He may get in my way," I say coldly, "But he can't stop me."

Narcissa nods once, sharply. "Very well. My family is at your service, as always."

I'm closing my eyes, casting my senses out into the nothing. Golden light is cutting through the darkness, pushing it away, burning.

"You need to leave," I tell my informant, and I'm hurtling out into the void of space, an ethereal being of energy and animal and just a sliver of humanity. And the burning, fierce presence is crying out, raising its wings.

      Fawkes.

He's found me through Harry's holly wand, called by the phoenix feather within. I smile and pull another wand from my sleeve, one made of ebony. And as the phoenix is upon me, I call up the Void, and I meet the creature's light with an unfathomable darkness.

      Boom.

(O'Neill: What the hell was that?)
(Carter: I don't know, sir, but it almost blew straight through our shields. We're lucky it wasn't closer.)

"Grab my arm." I tell Sophie. We apparate from planet to planet, trying to get Dumbledore off our trail. One, two, three, four, five. Hoth, Antarctica, Europa, Tartarus, Miranda.

I appear in the woodshop of the school in the clearing. There's another person in the room.

"Where is my daughter?" The woman asks.

I look around, but Sophie's nowhere to be seen.

      Dumbledore.

      skip

"Aurors and their locking spells," I mutter, pointing my ebony wand at the door. The lock clicks, and I open the door to the super-secret impenetrable Unspeakable Library. "Well, come on." I hiss at the nervous man behind me.

The two of us shuffle into the library and quietly barricade ourselves in one of the rooms. We're pretty sure that the information we need is here.

The man is flipping through a card catalogue, mumbling under his breath. I'm scanning the books on the shelf, but something seems out of place. I feel a presence. Thinking it's a guard, I make my way over to one of the closed doors and peer through the keyhole. I'm looking for the beam of a flashlight.

At first, I don't see anything. The hallway is white, and bare, and dark. I look through at a different angle, and

look directly into blood red eyes. There's no pupil, iris, sclera, it's all a murderous shade of red, and for a moment, I'm held captive by the gaze. I notice, peripherally, that she's a ghostly little girl in a tattered white dress and everything is bleeding into itself

She flickers, like a strobe light. In and out of existence, and suddenly, she's in the room with us

Harry is terrified, and I'm calm. The ghost is on us, tearing into our essence, and Harry is terrified but I know that there's no danger but I can feel his fear

      Everything's going dark

And I wake up, disoriented, in a pitch black room.

      Scare Factor: 4/10

      Oh. It was a dream.

It made sense at the time?

NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID FALSE AWAKENING PRECOG

I’m a bit disappointed with my dream recall and LDs lately. My boyfriend didn’t use to wake up when I was taking notes, but now he wakes up all the time and complains I’m making noise or that the light disturbs him (I have a pilot’s pen with LEDs, that can lit the whole room). This is inhibiting me as I don’t want to be the cause of his bad nights of sleep.
On the other hand he also keeps waking me up, disturbing my LDs, efforts to WILD or OBE. I mean, it’s good to have someone by your side, but it definitely messes up with the sleep and dream practices. Sometimes I feel jealous of you single oneironauts out there: enjoy your single bed while you can
My boyfriend and I are seriously considering that I go sleep on the couch. LOL Really!

      23:00 GMT – Sleep

      Escaping a complex long building
I’m with a group of friends in a very strange place. It’s almost like a long, long tunnel housing complex. It includes a bit of everything, from a kindergarten somewhere in the middle and a gay/travesty bar in one end. And all these places are interconnected. We’re having some fun at these gay bar at the end and some of these guys in the group are like politicians and public figures and some of them are with heavy make-up and travestied, but no one is really gay, they are just loosen up trying to have some serious fun.
But then a bunch of police like a swat team is coming. There’s a lot of panic around, we don’t know exactly what, but apparently there’s something illegal going on this place and we were caught in the middle. My friends freak out, because although we’re not involved, it would be quite a scandal if their fun party would become public. So we decide to escape by the back, through the interconnected series of buildings behind. They have no time to undress so we just need to be very discrete and avoid being seen by anybody – if someone sees us and the police then questions people, they will still get to us and specially become suspicious with our escape.
So as we go (we’re quite a large group – maybe 6-7 people) we really struggle not be seen. There’s a funny scene, when we’re crossing the kindergarten area – a lady sees me in the kitchen and asks me what I am doing there. Luckily she didn’t saw the others who were squatted behind some furniture. I distract her, trying to luck totally normal and filling up a glass of water and saying I’m new there and I am just coming to get a glass of water for some kid. She is not really convinced but immediately gives me some errands to do. As I distract her with this, the others use the opportunity to continue forth, still squatted and manage to go to the next building. As I also get rid of the lady and go after them we then meet at this kind of passageway between two buildings and someone sees us. But fortunately is my friend Hugo and he decide to help us. He checks the path and tells us when it’s clear. Then we have to cross a yard and although there are some places to hide (now we have to crawl behind some bushes), there’s also a lot of people passing by and at some point I need to run back, as I risk being spotted. And I guess this goes on until we finally reach the other end and get out of this complex... but don’t recall anything else.

      3:10 GMT

Attack of the big mad elephant
I’m in what seems to be some of my home town streets, near the river. There’s some festival going on and at some point everybody starts running in panic because an elephant is on the loose and he is not friendly. As I see the elephant coming I prepare to simply fly away and get into safe ground but I see all these people totally vulnerable and feel like helping. I try to gather them all and we run to some parking lot of a supermarket (something like that), which has fences around. The elephant still takes some time to get there as he is distracted along the way with other stuff/people. I coordinate people to help me close the gates and secure the fence, but I realise it is quite weak and in some places it is even broken. I know an elephant can simply step on it and enter, as if it was made of paper. But these people need hope and I play along. My father is also there. He hands me his watch. It has a leather bracelet and he tells me it can be used to close the gate. I actually think it’s quite a great idea, even if it won’t make any difference.
Then I spot this warehouse behind us, which is actually also very weak, but could give us a better chance and I tell everybody to get inside.
We close all doors and barricade in there. The elephant has finally approached and we sense him outside. He is huge and he is mad. I sense it’s no ordinary stressed elephant, he is on a mission and won’t let go of it.
He actually yells (yeah, the elephant speaks!) to us that he’ll be watching us and we’ll eventually need to go outside and he’ll be waiting for that moment. People feel upset but also in a good mood because they escaped so far and there’s a chance if they come up with the right plan. There’s a young couple with their kids and they plan to take some shower (apparently we even have showers on the warehouse, I wonder if there’s also food by any chance) and take the kids along. Then at night people make a bonfire and sing and dance. They are really in good mood, but the future is uncertain.

      5:40 GMT

      On the church’s attic
I’m inside some old building which I’m not yet sure what it is. I see some stairs going up, like to a tower and I want to go up there, but there’s tape saying “construction site” on it and meanwhile a guy yells at me that I can’t go there, that it is dangerous. I say ok and keep exploring the ground floor. I see this corridor with arcades on the sides that leads me to a big central nave and I realise it is a church. On this central nave there are stairs leading to a higher platform, not really another floor, but an intermediate floor. The same guy who yelled before, now yells that I can climb to that one. And I say ok again and climb the stairs. I find myself in this platform, not at all interesting, but with a very old wooden floor, that squeaks and bends down. Some guy that looks like a junkie tells me “Have you seen this floor?”, “Yeah, so what!”, “It was restored recently and it’s totally safe to jump on it!”. And I see many people just walking around and jumping on it. I feel no confidence at all on this floor and just decide to go down again, when I spot some more stairs leading to some attic. I go up there and I find this wonderful room with kiddie furniture and toys and such a cozy warm ambiance. I wonder who’s living there and then I see my two cousins S. and J. They are living there. I say hi to them and how good it is to see them again. Then I say this place is amazing and I am so happy they finally have a nice room just for them (they’ve always been poor and sleeping on really shity houses, with no room of their own. I tell them they deserve to finally have such a nice home. But somehow they are not looking very happy. I notice they have this ball pool and a smaller room on a corner which is a playing house. Then I look through the window (which is a skylight on the inclined roof) and I see a beautiful view – green lush mountains and the ocean.
They still look unhappy and I wonder why they look so young. They should by now be twenty and twenty-something years old, why do they appear as kids.
      But I don’t get lucid...

      Tsunami in Japan
Then I’m kicked to this outside landscape I was seeing through the window and I’m by the sea. On my left side is a river flowing into the sea. I’m with a group of girl friends. And we’re in Japan! We’re just relaxing by the water when I notice a strong wave hitting the quay on our left. The wave is about a meter high, but it is so straight up and strong I sense something abnormal. Then I see a second wave like this and I tell my friends I think it’s a tsunami. And if it is, these were just the warning waves and we have just a few minutes until a big one comes. They could say I was crazy but the fact is although not entirely convinced, they decided to play it safe and depart with me. A friend is driving a tiny red car and we go through a road that goes side by side with the river. Current is now upstream and water is starting to rise. They realise I was correct and I tell them to turn on the left to a road that goes up, instead of staying on this road that is quickly being flooded.
As we go up, we see other big waves hitting the shore and covering the land. On top of this hill we find a village and people are running away. We ask two guys if they know what’s going on and they tell us there was a warning on the radio that had been a big quake on the sea and a big tsunami was expected and that the big waves were still going to come. They told us it wasn’t safe to stay here, we had to go to higher ground as everybody was doing. Half the hill was already covered by water and it was surrounding us, because this hill was only connected to mainland through one side. We asked him the way out and he just pointed vaguely to the road in front of us and then left. We saw 2 or 3 cars going that way and we followed them. Then we arrived at this bifurcation again, on some square and we didn’t know where to go now. We first went left but the road was going down and half of it was already covered by water. We were getting scared and yelling at that guy who didn’t offer to guide us out of there – was every man by itself. Now driving really quickly we turned back and went to the right and kept going up.
Then I woke up. [Let’s hope this is not a precognitive dream, because next week I’ll be going to Japan...]

Do you think this counts as anachronistic naming, or am I just getting lazy?

WBTB after #148 (which was better), so I'm posting this one on its own.

This may have almost been a WILD.

      09/18/10

When I come to, I'm lying on the floor. I'm also dreaming. I place my hands on the floor in front of me and run them through the grey shag carpet, trying to stabilize.

I get up, and go to walk out the door. I notice the lights are off. I decide to test whether I can turn them on and off, since light levels often change during my dreams. I flick the switch, but nothing happens. Huh.

I'm walking through the hallway, feeling the rolled on paint, trying to remember what I was supposed to do.

I pop my head into a bedroom. There are people lying all over. There are a few on the bed, a few more lounging on the floor.

"Hey," I ask my in-dream roommate, a girl on the bed who looks like Halle Berry. "Have you seen Zoe?"

"She said she'd be at the party tonight."

The dream fades into the party. I'm somewhat surprised; that's almost like teleportation.

      Lose recall.

My parents drop me off at an apartment in downtown Calgary. I have two half-empty cardboard boxes with me. Both my mom and my dad are very disapproving about my decision to move to Calgary.

We're driving through downtown, away from the skate park my brother wanted to go to. I see a couple of the people from the No Limits parkour group (I don't know them IWL), practicing as we drive by. I point them out to the other people in the car.

      Different dream.

Zoe has a little brother, in this dream. I steal a set of Janitor's keys from him and he chases me through the building.

      2000

He's killed, just like that. His daughter, seven years old, is alone in their apartment across town. I'm the daughter.

I slip from the bed, tiny and blonde and short-haired, and push open the door to the rest of the apartment. Somehow, I'm not surprised to see a man there. The man is stocky and blond, and I can see that he's grinning when the orange light from the window hits his face.

I incline my head. "Sir." I say, my voice neutral.

He grins wider and nods back. I step back into the doorway of my bedroom, and he brushes past me into the bright light of the hallway.

He'll be back, if only to keep an eye on me. I need to leave.

I'm a man in a black suit, sitting in the back of a black car, which is driving to the outskirts of a town in Illinois. And we're in Illinois, of course, because the Organization tracked an Extranormal here. One false move, one positive test, and suddenly Jane Doe (Age 17, Grade 12, parents work from home) is about to be assassinated by a team of armed government goons.

It's funny. Extranormals can't strictly be barred from going to school, or holding regular jobs. Hell, they can even travel. Different countries have different restrictions, of course, but the good ol' US of A is all about liberty. The Organization can track them, though. Legality's a little fuzzy, but some real dangerous ones pop up occasionally. What to do with them?

Here's the thing: Extranormals go crazy all the time. They lose control of their powers and suddenly they're either a human icicle or a pile of ashes. Most of the time they take innocent bystanders with them. It's really no problem at all to fake a meltdown. Kill the EN, murder all the bystanders, blow shit up. It's easy.

This one's powers are a little more subtle, so no flashy special effects. Fortunately, ENs tend to be a little crazy to begin with, so it wouldn't be unheard of for one to suddenly... snap. Possibly kill her entire family with a butcher knife. Double murder-suicide, neat and clean.

The man in the passenger seat has the knife.

We pull up the gravel driveway. The other three men silently open their doors and step out. I hide a grin by turning toward the empty road as I step out of the car. No one's coming.

The plan is to enter the house and kill the parents, then ambush the girl when she comes home from school.

      Neat and clean.

      Except.

Her father died ten years ago.

Her mother died even before that.

And Jane Doe is a really stupid pseudonym.

The only person in the house is the lodger who rents out the basement. That lodger is an Extranormal himself, a young black man who's trying to lie low. Obviously, that's not working out.

I can sense him in the front entrance of the house, ready to attack the first man who comes in. I give the all-clear to the other men.

The man with the knife kicks open the door and walks into an ambush. I shoot the other two in the back.

Once upon a time, there was a man in a black suit. The man was supposed to sit in the back of a black car, and break into a house, and help murder an entire family. While he was still alive, this man used to really hate shapeshifters.

I am on an airplane, returning from London to Mexico. But I have to stop at New York. I see from the airplane window that there's a storm, and I sense things are falling apart. Then I'm in the car, in a bridge and things ARE falling apart. My dad, the driver, stops and we get down at an apartment. I go up and all families are going crazy, in the apartment where I'm staying the father says "Everybody, you must only have a walkman OR a blackberry, only one, not both." I grab my blackberry and my best friend, the apartment is starting to fall. Everybody is ready to die. I tell her to come with me, everybody knows we're trying to save them. How? Supposedly, I know how to. So we run and stop at a restaurant, this man calls us. He tells us we have to sell some things, and that we should sell it to the laundry next to us. Meanwhile, the apartments that face the bridge are all falling, everybody is ready to die,, except me. We go to the laundry, and there's no people to sell the stuff to. So I tell my friend not to enter. We come back to the man and he tell us that we have to go into the laundry or he'll punish us. My friend wants to go, but I stop her. I know there's a business going on that we shouldn't enter. I tell the man we're not going. He's sitting with another man, and the other man tells us he doesn't want to make us prostitutes, he hates to do that. Then the man that wants us to enter the laundry to be made sex slaves gets up and threatens to kill us, then siamese twins came and stabbed the man with a small knife, the man turned and stabbed the twins, and the three fell down to the floor, dead. Me and my friend ran, crying because of the twins and got to a place nearby, full of sand, and with inventions from the ancient until now. There we recieved notice that it had all finished, and we were safe. We had made it. I was not ready to die.

Hello, I'm on sleeping pills. This should be interesting.

I'm in the midst of an ill-defined series of sex dreams. I remember switching genders at least once. Something clues me into the fact that I'm dreaming, but I'm feeling a little distracted at the moment.

The dream is morphing. I feel disconnected, and there's a whole bunch of white space. A DC turns into something two-dimensional. A person-sized poster? A mirror? The image in the glass-slash-paper is still the same man. He doesn't seem concerned.

      I'm sleepy.

Mirrors. Nomad. I wander outside, unconcerned with how I get there. There's a lonely cluster of pine trees, surrounded by a mish-mash of buildings associated with my childhood. The dirt has been tilled recently; there's not even a bit of debris left on the ground.

"You're in a forest, surrounded by black-barked trees." I recall, "There's a path. Something left." I pause, trying to remember. "Late summer."

I give up at this point. I was hoping to call up the requisite imagery just by reciting the words, but it looks like that plan's out.

I walk up the dirt path. There's an idea in my mind, that I need to shed my clothing to complete a ritual. The mirror is in the trees. I throw a light-coloured button-up shirt to the side and brush my hands over a tank top. I'm hoping that my shapeshifting won't go out of control, because I'm pretty sure I'm stuck halfway between forms. I'm not in the mindset of my character. Everything is out of focus.

Another distraction. I'm running down an alley, towards someone. Jumping a white fence. Trying to find trees at the center of a labyrinth.

Attempt at WakingNomad's Serial Dream RPG.

Sorry that I haven't been reading anyone's dream journals, by the way. I don't have the energy right now, so I'll get at them when I can.

      Cheers.
