    1. Desert Adventures (NLD)

      by , 11-10-2014 at 06:16 PM
I was walking with my dad, who now resembled the older Russell Crowe from Noah, out of the town into a desert to join an expeditionary force that was tasked with recovering some powerful ancient artifact. "Are we going to help them get it or take it for ourselves?" I asked him, trying to clarify our motivations. "We'll see how it plays out," he replied. In the next moment I observed the leader of the expeditionary force raise at least a hundred undead elephants from beneath the sands, adding considerably to the impressiveness of their force. "For them, it looks like," I commented wryly, answering my own question.

Moving swiftly ahead of the rest, my dad and I were the first ones to reach the stone antechamber that served as the entrance to the dungeon where the artifact was said to be buried. While we waited for the others to catch up, we heard an altercation outside. I heard a booming voice that I understood to be that an antagonist in the form of a powerful AI, announcing that it had trained an orbital telescope upon the army we were assisting. It claimed that the telescope was pointed at an ancient city beneath the sands, and was capable of igniting some flammable resource right underneath the army's feet.

Although in dastardly-villain style the AI had revealed its plan before executing it, there was no chance to thwart it: in the next moment we saw a tremendous conflagration through the cracks in the partially-open doors of the stone chamber in which we took refuge. Fortunately the entrance was facing the opposite direction from the blast, and although the stone walls at our back protected us from immolation, we still had to put our hands over our faces to protect them from the sudden withering heat.

We knew that anyone outside who had been exposed to the blast must have been destroyed—all but one, a single man who had arrived just outside the stone antechamber in time to be protected by it. I took him to be the leader of the army that had just been decimated. "Wow," I said, not directing my words to anyone in particular, as he slipped into the antechamber and joined us. "That was... overwhelming." I realized that under these changed circumstances, we would no doubt be seeking the artifact for our own purposes now, though whether this third guy would turn out to be an ally or antagonist in the long run was impossible to predict. "Guess it's just the three of us now," I commented as, without further ado, we started down the stone steps into darkness to begin our adventure.
    2. 28-29: Kill all animals

      by , 07-29-2014 at 05:53 PM
It started with two of my friends and I walking down a path. To the left of the path we were at the bottom of a really steep cliff and to the right of us we were at the top of another really steep cliff. Both the ground and cliffs were purpleish brown. As we walked along the path, we had to kill all the animals along the way. There were things like elephants, rabid dogs, and small rhinoceroses. We did it with a sense of nobility, so I guess they were evil or something. About halfway along the path we found another one of my friends and she joined our group. She didn't seem to want to kill anything, though; I never saw her kill anything, at least. One we reached the end of the cliff, the dream jumped all of us into a jungle somewhere. It wasn't a straight path, but our goal was the same: kill all animals. We all decided to split up; we could get them all faster that way. We left the female friend on her own, I guess it didn't really matter because the animals didn't attack us unless we attacked them. After killing a rhino, I found a bunch of trees covering something very large. The female friend was heading in to investigate, so I figured I should go with her. As it would turn out, there was a giant elephant inside there. It didn't attack us (as per usual), so I decided to climb on its back and start attacking its head. After I started attacking, it couldn't do much in retaliation given where I was standing. It was taking a really long time though (The female friend disappeared from the dream at this point). One of my friends jumped on on the back with me and tried helping. Eventually, the elephants' head fell off onto its back with us and turned into a small puppy. My friend said that the only way to truly kill it was to kill this puppy. I was just kinda going with it. I held it down and he pulled out one of those things that you use t measure heat in meat whilst cooking(?) and cut its side open. I woke up before anything else could happen.
Jeez, both dreams I've recorded so far have a dark twist. Can't I just have one that's all happy 'n stuff? Sorry for not uploading yesterday, my reason being quite simple: I didn't go to sleep yesterday. Sometimes when I'm writing something I don't end up going to bed. It doesn't really matter, I slept a lot tonight.
I really am enjoying writing these, they are sparking some creative outlets. I think I want to continue keeping a dream journal for a little while longer before trying to have a full out LD.
    3. Captain Picard the Zoo Curator

      by , 07-20-2014 at 03:20 AM
So I volunteer at the zoo.

I don't remember much, but the other night I dreamed that:

I leave the indoor elephant area to find Captain Picard (who I know to be the zoo curator) and the elephants' zookeeper sitting on lawn chairs facing the outside area of the elephant exhibit. There's an empty lawn chair between them, but Picard tells me to feed the elephants instead of sitting. Obliging, I pick up a basket of eggs and throw them one by one at a basketball hoop that's high up on the outside of the gate. However, I miss all that I try to throw (and hit an elephant once), so I turn back to Picard and say something like, "Can we just not? 'Cause all I'm really doing is egging the elephants." Picard nods, stands, and says something that I don't remember, then we all leave together.

    4. Woman in blue

      by , 05-01-2014 at 06:59 PM
I'm looking at an image of a woman wrapped in this dress made of blue cloth; the cloth also wraps up her neck and over some kind of tall headgear in a way that reminds me of a nun, or some medieval headdresses. The only skin visible is her face - or it would be, except that in this image, she has the head of an elephant. I'm aware this is specifically something added to this image, it's not literally her face. It's representing something to do with the shape. I briefly see a second, similar image, using the head of an anteater instead of an elephant, reinforcing the point about shape.

Scene change. That woman, with her own human face now - or at least, a woman in that same dress - standing in an immense room. A man's come to consult her. His skin has cracks running through it in a way that reminds me of magma. He's aware, as he approaches her, that this isn't the woman he's come to consult - she's a stand-in, a decoy, to protect the real one. He can smell the difference between them. He's about to say something about this, but he's distracted by noticing a different scent in the room. There's a dead body of a man lying on the floor a little way away, and now he walks back to that body and bends down to look at a circular metal medallion on the corpse's chest. He can smell two other people who were here earlier. One is his sister. The other, he asks the woman in blue about - a man he describes out loud only as "a writer," and his voice sounds annoyed. In his mind, he's thinking that this writer left for America years ago, and shouldn't be here now.

Then I have the impression that I'm looking at one in a series of scenes showing an alternate past, of what would have happened if that writer hadn't traveled to America back then, but I only actually see one scene - a group of people, mostly adults, celebrating the 8th birthday of that previously mentioned sister, Julie.
    5. Amah

      by , 03-21-2014 at 10:02 PM
An elephant is making a request of a king or a god, and saying "I am only a lowly guardsman." As he says this, I see him kneeling on a battlefield, wearing armor.

Next to the elephant, there's a man speaking with a woman from the opposing army, each with their own soldiers behind them. The woman goes by the name or title Amah. She's very beautiful and very prideful, smiling and casually resting her elbow on the shoulder of the man next to her, her servant. This is the second time they're meeting like this. The first time, she made some demand or threat which was fulfilled. This time, her servant announces that she's come to 'kill your wives' or something similar, something about causing the deaths of women at least. He says something flowery about those she's killed in the past, and how the great sympathy she has for these women is the reason she does not permit them to speak her real name. Amah says, "It would murder me. I could not stand it." She's still smiling as she says it.

She suddenly slumps forward and falls to the ground. The man she'd been speaking to has simply whispered her name.

    6. zoo

      by , 09-03-2011 at 11:27 PM
really weird one on thurs (01/09) where i was riding around on my bike alot. eventually i realised i was just outside the zoo. its great because it always feels the same with different parts of some zoos but always based around the most local one. you can see alot of the animals by just going by outside but the ones where you actually get into the zoo are pretty amazing but never done it lucid yet.

i was just outside this massive lion field and i had to go back for my bike just incase i had to make a getaway. as i was coming back up the hill i saw the elephants in the back ground which were the size of houses almost like something from a dali painting. this almost got me lucid but i didnt quite make the jump.

the other odd bit was that i had these riding shoes that also seemed to double up as some kind of ipod type thing. this got me thinking about dress sense and it was odd because i remembered having certain different clothes from previous dreams yet still didnt get lucid. i remember thinking that i had lots of good bits of clothing but never really coordinated. then i realised that i didnt care at all

    7. Non lucid dream about Tigers riding on the back of Elephants

      by , 07-25-2011 at 12:55 AM
A week ago I had a very strange non-lucid dream about tigers riding on the back of elephants. It was actually a stampede of elephants, running across streets. I made this very raw depiction of my dream (see illustration, the elephants look like cardboard figures but this is unintentional)

      How Lifelike Are Your LDs?-vakpt.jpg

In this dream I was a bystander, witnessing the stampede. I know there are stone statues near temples in India of tigers riding on the back of elephants, but it's meaning is unknown to me. Can someone please (on short notice) enlighten me and tell me if there's any symbolic reference to certain events or if this has anything to do with me. It is very important to me.
