Ice Destruction & Construction

About 14 friends and I are in small wooden boats in the middle of a vast ocean. There are two strands of ice here. They are both very long, about 100 feet, and there is a 10-foot space between them. I am in this 10-foot space, when one friend of mine, Audrey, comes along (in a boat) and asks, "Which way did the flood go?"
