    Fire, death, and tears

I had this dream the night of June 16, 2011

    Part 1

It was dusk. I was at a race track. There were thoroughreds in the court yard area. I was part of a team- 3 riders per horse. I was apprehensive about three people being on a TB but I put on my jumpsuit anyways. I was to ride in back. We rode bareback. I clambered on and the thoroughbred, a dark bay gelding/stallion began to pop his hindquarters up and buck. I held on with my legs and to the rider in front of me and began to voice my concerns over my being in back. They were younger and smaller and I stated that the heavier rider should be in the middle of the horse's back, not on the hindquarters. They just told me I was to stay put. The horse pranced forward and we came to the start of the 'race' track. Smoke began to fill the air and ahead the trees beside the track were in flames and there were firetrucks putting the fire out. We were told to ride forward. Our horse began to nervously prace and bounce from side to side. I held on and gripped with my legs, fearful of a wreck.

    Part 2

I was in the house and I saw that the front door was open. I didn't see the cats. I ran outside and saw them across the street. I ran over to them as I saw a few dogs running toward them. I grabbed Xena and Woodrow, but Jazz was struggling to get free. The were clawing me as I grabbed them all and was yelling for help. The neighbors came out and chased the dogs away and I walked toward the house. In the flower bed, I saw Jazz's legs. I threw the other cats inside the door and saw a dog wrestling with Jazz. I grabbed the dog and threw it off, then picked up Jazz. He was limp and I saw blood matted around his throat. He lay in my arms and I began to cry and turned to the neighbors and said "Someone call the vet! Someone call a vet!" It was dusk by this time and the man that was on the phone said he couldn't find a vet that was open. Jazz was very weak, but he kept kneading me and purring. I was crying and on my phone, trying to find the number to an ER vet. My fiance came and took Jazz and put him in a carrier. When I realized he was tucked in a carrier, I was furious and afraid he'd been put in there less-than-gently. I ran into the house and got the number for the ER vet off of the fridge and called. It was dark now and I looked out to see the crate EMPTY. I ran out and saw Jazz crawling across the yard. I began to scream and cry and ran to get him, picking him up in my arms and seeing his pumpkin orange eyes fading. I was beside myself with grief.
