    5/9/12. stressed and it shows

I didn't sleep well last night, and the dreams I had weren't an escape like usual, but more stressful situations.

Dream One: I'm at my mother in laws house. Her Christmas tree is in the middle of the doorway. I think this an odd place for it, but she tells me that's the only place she could put it because she didn't have an extension cord. I think we start arguing about something but I don't remember what, and I walk out. Outside I'm walking up the road and run across a teenage kid playing basket ball. I ask him to take me to someone (or maybe he offers to take me, it's fuzzy) He leads me up the road, then we turn left at a stop sign, then go up a hill. At the top of the hill I recognize the place and that there should be stoplights across the road. Instead of stoplights though, there are basket ball goals hanging from the wires, and the kid tries to shoot from half way down the hill. I freak out thinking his ball could hit a car since we can't see what's coming over the top of the hill yet. He tells me to "chillax" and then keeps playing. I run to the top of the hill, and see there's no traffic. Then I see that waiting for me on top of the hill is someone. I don't even remember who, just that I was really happy to see them and gave them a hug and felt like everything was going to be ok... then I woke up.

Dream Two: I'm at the grocery store trying to figure out what kind of special Dinner I can make for my husband. I have absolutely no clue what I can make that would be special, and now I can't even remember what the special occasion was. Eventually, I decide I'm going to try to make lobster since in The Sims that's one of the best "fanciest" dishes you can make. I buy two lobsters, and I get in the car. I notice the lobsters make my hands stink like fish, and I'm grossed out wondering if this is really such a good idea. Then I realize I don't even know how to cook the things, and call my bff who actually has some sort of culinary degree (but I think hers is in pastries and cakes, not fish, lmao) in hopes that she will be able to walk me through it. When I start talking to her on the phone, I remember that my husband is allergic to shell fish, and I think Lobster is some sort of shellfish because it looks similar to shrimp and he's allergic to shrimp as well. I have a mental break down in the car because I have these stinky lobsters that I don't even know how to cook, and now I realize I've wasted money on them because we can't eat them after all and I don't know what to do with them now or what I'm going to make for this special dinner.

Dream Three: I'm going to the movies to see the new Disney movie coming out, Brave, with my kids. When we get there, the tickets are like $20 a piece, and it's crazy! But then we end up getting extra stuff with our tickets, like free water bottles and stuff because the movie is like a drinking game? When the movie starts, it's more like a play because the characters are breaking the fourth wall the whole time, and complaining about how our water bottles aren't right and just won't work for this game! The bottles keep leaking, and everyone's getting sticky and wet, and it's very annoying. I get up to leave, but somehow that makes the dream shift so that I become Merida, the main character, and the queen is telling me to run because the villagers want to cut my magic hair (yup, a Tangled reference there) I spend the next few minutes of the dream running from this crazy, 3 foot tall old lady with scraggly red hair who's chasing me with a glowing blue knife trying to cut my hair. I manage to trick her by opening the door to a stairway and she thinks I ran down the stairs. While she's trying to run after me she trips and falls (doesn't get hurt though!) and gets the knife lodged into the wall. I run up and yank the knife out of the wall, and it becomes a spatula? then I tell her my hair is magic and can't be cut and attempt to cut it myself with the spatula. Instead of cutting, it burns and smells and feels horrible. Everyone is all upset over the chase through the castle and my pretty hair being singed. I wake up

I woke up three hours earlier than normal, and it took me forever to fall asleep last night. I'm pretty upset because I live in NC and Amendment one passed last night. It's likely to affect a bunch of my friends gay and straight. I've just been fretting over it all night, and not able to relax. I'm hoping that being extra sleepy will help me sleep better tonight.
