    1. Lucid Bicycle Hunt

I am walking down an urban street. Suddenly, I become lucid. I do something a little different this time. I look at my hands. My fingers are moving in and out of proportion, like thick wavy reeds. You might say, if I was in real life, I took a deep breath, but there really was no breath. I relax, and tell myself "I am dreaming." Instead of trying to do something completely crazy, I decide it would be a good idea to use the surroundings I am already in. This way, the dream will be less likely to collapse. For some reason, the idea of flying through the air on a bicycle comes to mind. Instead of simply summoning one, or looking around the corner, though, I decide to go to the nearest store. I start running down the street. There are no people as far as I can see. I remind myself that I am dreaming, I can alter things in the dream. Instead of running I am now running in fast motion down the street. It is hard to judge distance, but it seems like I do this sort of high speed travel for about a mile in one second. I am now in a a supermarket type store. There are people everywhere here. I look at my hands, and remind myself that I am dreaming. I briskly walk down the aisles, looking for what I want. It occurs to me that it might be interesting to try some food in my dream. Suddenly, I turn a corner and there is a fat man holding a plate of fried fish/chips. Without even thinking, I snatch up a piece of fish and chew it. The first thing I think is "wow, this is really hot!" My dream had whipped me up some fried fish fresh out of the frier. It is very tasty, though. I keep walking, and continuously look at my hands. They seem so strange, which keeps me focused on the dream. I feel a sort of rush, and for a second I fear the dream may be collapsing. I am in a clothing section now, and there is some snobby prep boy complaining to his mother for not buying him something. I laugh and as I walk up to him I look to my left to see a stand of funny looking hats. I pick up one and place it on his head. He totally ignores me, and keeps talking to his mother. I pick up another smaller, funny looking hat and place it on top of the other hat. He just looks ridiculous. But he says something to his mother like "See, isn't that much better?" She starts telling him how she doesn't agree with the way it looks...and the dream ends.

This is the longest lucid dream I've had so far, and it was very exciting! I had another lucid about a week or two ago, but it was a sort of weird one where I could not gain control. This time, I realized I needed to try to stabilize the dream, and I had been telling myself in waking life to remember to look at my hands. It worked! My hands were so strange, it kept me reminded that I was dreaming, and maybe it helped stabilize it more as well. Also, in the past, when I've had brief moments of lucidity I've tried doing some crazy things like summoning people, changing the scenery, etc. I know this is all possible, but I am still learning. Better to first walk before you run. It worked in this dream, instead of trying to change everything I simply used what my dream provided. I was able to alter it in some ways, however, because I was able to "sprint" at high speeds, find a store around the corner, find food I was looking for around the corner. I am slightly disappointed I did not get to ride my bike through the sky or whatever I was planning, but I still had a blast, and what's even better is now that I've had this long lucid dream I know I can and will have more. Next time, I will stabilize the dream much in the same way, possibly adding in another technique like rubbing my hands together, and I will attempt to alter the dream in more significant ways. Always before when I've become lucid, I fly. I like flying, but honestly I believe there is much more out there. My main goal at this point is meeting my Dream Guide. I believe I will soon.
