I don't remember all of the dream, but I remember most of it: Early in the dream, I was looking through a window at cars. The thing about them was, they were very oddly shaped. Most of them were only built for one occupant, and one was built for four occupants who had to stand in a row while the car was moving. Later, I was in a crowded room, very large. Lots of tables and possibly couches all around, of various shapes. There was some kind of show going on, but it was behind me and I didn't really know what it was. It involved animals, though. There was a girl, Aeris (not the FF7 character, but cute and with the same name) who I was talking to. We had talked a bit before, and the possibility of going out to eat came up. She mentioned something about breakfast, and asked where I wanted to go, but I couldn't think of any place. I think we were on a trip of some kind, in a hotel. She was familiar with the area, but I wasn't. We moved to one of the couches, I was still facing away from the show, but she was facing it. Eventually we settled on a plan for the following day..we hugged, and she left. For a little while I sat on the couch, relaxing. A friend of mine walked by with my dog, whom he had borrowed for the show. I gave her a gentle tug as she walked by, as if to say hi. They stopped briefly, but had to continue on their way. Resting on the couch, a man at a nearby table started talking to me. He asked me about my power (because suddenly we were in the fictional land of Xanth, where every person has a power of some sort). I took on the role of the main character from that series, who is immune to all harmful magic. Early in the series, he believes himself to have no power at all, and I tell this to the man. After I leave, I pass by a tree and reflect on my decision to be this character. Suddenly the dream jumps, and I am again in the hotel, on an upper level, preparing for my date. However, I am also Lieutenant Commander Data from Star Trek, and I've just damaged my arm. Somehow the damage is such that it would interfere with my date (there was an important circuit in there that affected my perceptual abilities, or something like that). I initiate a self-repair sequence, and then I'm sent on an away mission to another dimension with an unnamed officer. We are transported to the surface of this world, and it is very..sectioned. Like the set of a film, all layed out side by side...one section contains a hallway and a waiting room, where Data remains to heal himself. Suddenly I am the unnamed officer, and through some sort of natural spatial/dimensional weirdness of the area, there end up being two of me. I climb through the ladders and tubes of one section, and find my duplicate has been talking to the natives, and has somehow managed to offend them deeply. It becomes a dangerous environment where we aren't quite at all-out combat, but we know that any further interaction with these people would be gambling with our lives. We go back to Data, and try to snap him out of the loop that he's in. He's imagining some sort of scenario, and not processing output from the real world. Somehow, we manage to overlay text onto the images that he is imagining, and we get a message to him that way. He snaps out of his dream-coma, and we are able to leave.
