    Recurring dreams

    Good evening.
I am needing help with 2 recurring dreams that have been going on for the past 3-5 years.
The first one is a recurring dream rthat I am pregnant. I am ecstatic, but as time progresses I realize that I have not gone into labor & that giving birth is not in the near future although I've carried the baby to term. in short, I never have the child. I cannot provide alot of detail as I've had this dream sooo many times. The setting or ppl may change on the dream but the situation is always the same. A little before I started having these dreams, I would have the reoccurring dream that I had a child that i'd just simply forgotten about. my other children would be in the dream which I was aware of, then out would hit me like a ton of bricks that I had another child. it would scare the daylights out of me & I'd frantically try to find the child (which I usually did, the child was usually an infant & would be mildly malnourished). And oddly enough, years before that I had an isolated dream that I was walking with two children.....they were completely black (not race wise but like charcoal), shriveled with no facial features at all. I don't relate any of these dreams to pregnancy our mothering issues because I've been pregnant 7 times, had 7 live births & my children are happy, healthy & well taken care of. I've been so lengthy so I'll save the other recurring dream for another time. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

      Hello Enigma, welcome to DreamViews!

I can sort of relate to your recurring pregnancy dreams. I haven't been pregnant in real life, though a few years ago (until now, sometimes), I started having pregnancy dreams where my child would have something wrongs with him/her—like a defect or genetic mutation. I attributed these dreams to the fact that a few of my acquaintances had gotten pregnant at such a young age, and that I was afraid their children would have something wrong with them.

I see you mentioned it's probably not motherhood issues, but perhaps it is kind of a subconscious contrast to your real life situation? Since you have healthy and happy children and pregnancies, then somehow this *might* be a kind of recurring dream that is entirely opposite from what you are experiencing. Many times (and normally), we dream of things that happened to us in waking life, but there may also be times where we just simply keep dreaming of the opposite, perhaps to help our subconscious balance out the two opposite sides of the spectrum in our mind.

I'm not quite sure how to remedy this, as I also kind of suck at dream analysis. But if it doesn't really bother you or hinder your performance in waking life, then it might be good to just let it be. Or pehaps you could recall a specific dream with that content, and daydream or visualize an alternate and ideal ending. Do it over and over and sooner or later you will convince yourself that there's nothing wrong with that and you might start having normal dreams, or have those dreams again but with a better outcome.
