    Note--privacy issues

    The following recently occurred to me:
    A) This dream journal contains absolutely no privacy options.
    B) This dream journal now comes up as the second entry when you Google search for "SCPantera".
    C) Several of my dreams contain fairly dicey information that, while I have no mind towards anonymous people on the internet reading them, would rather not have people I know stumbling across this journal.

    Though regrettable, here's my plan as an alternative: I'm going to backup my dream journal entries on Word documents in my personal files on my computer and simply cross index the entries I'd rather not have public.

    Edit: And done. I elected to leave a few racier bits that I don't mind being public too much and stuck with only removing a couple sequences I thought were downright embarrassing. Hopefully this will allow my dream journal to retain some entertainment value without being too risky.
    I'm trying to decide if I want to put forth the effort to backup every entry. It would be a good idea, but may be time consuming.

      You ever wonder what I'd be like if there were no privacy on the interwebs?

      Like if all your keystrokes and google searches were not only recorded but easily accessed by anyone?

      I had the same privacy worries, so from the beginning I have the dream journal on word on my computer and only copy here what I don't mind sharing. That's an obvious solution.

      It's a lot closer than you think. If you can find a copy of (or don't mind downloading) We Live in Public, check it out. It's a documentary about an early internet prodigy who got rich early in the dot com era and basically predicted every aspect of how internet culture has evolved today. The really eye opening part is about how companies like Google and Facebook make a lot their money by silently datamining every word we type into the internet about ourselves--often voluntarily.

      I've found the best way to fight paranoia is with a combination of transparency and apathy. Fuck 'em, man. White knuckles tight.

      No, I know it is a lot closer than I think but I'll definitely check that out. Thanks. Look for my thread in the next few days if there ain't already one.

      Will do, it's good stuff.

      I don't think I'm super paranoid, but among other reasons I'm about to graduate into a rather conservative profession (pharmacy) so I'm trying to be mindful of the information I post that can be easily accessible. Otherwise, I wouldn't necessarily mind anonymous people reading my dream journal for entertainment, especially on a site like this where sharing dreams is a central theme.
