    Grounded Bed Sheet. Interesting night.

I haven’t really been practicing lucid dreaming (LD) much these past few years. I still have random sleep paralysis (SP) episodes that are mostly unpleasant or creepy, but sometimes they get interesting.

Last night was not an SP night, but I was experimenting with grounded bed sheets because something has been causing poor sleep. It was a cheap option and worth a shot. I have no idea if my dreams last night were related to being grounded or if it was some sort of unexpected placebo, but it’s worth noting. That said, my sleep didn’t improve much, and I ended up taking a Xanax my doctor prescribed because he thinks my sleep issues are all anxiety-related. I’m not convinced.

Anyway, in the first few hours, I had a very long, confusing, but vivid dream. I think it stemmed from a mix of recent work travel and past events. Long story short, I was preparing for a flight to join the military (funny because I’m way too old), and my mom was there (RIP). I started to realize joining the military was a bad idea. I went to say goodbye to my wife, but she was my ex-wife, and then she morphed into a co-worker with the same first name. She looked confused and standoffish. Mom told her to say goodbye and enjoy our last moments. I said she never gave a shit anyway. I turned to the boarding ramp, and my anxiety kicked in with racing thoughts about how I didn’t want to do this.
I had periods of restlessness and ups and downs after that. My anxiety was still intense, so I took a Xanax.

Late in the morning, my alarm went off for my workout, but I was too exhausted to care, so I gave myself another hour of sleep. When the alarm rang again, I was sleeping so well that I hit snooze a ton. In between snoozes, I had multiple false awakenings that I caught onto. I even did a nose-plug reality check in one—it’s always so weird to blow through that. The lucid dreams were mostly low-quality, but I played a lot with morphing through objects. In one instance, I was looking at myself in the bathroom mirror, and my face morphed like Ponyo when she’s doing magic (we recently rewatched that movie). So, I morphed into the mirror—it was very Matrix-like. Other times, I did things like morph through the floor into the crawl space, only to find our three cats milling about down there. The rest was just passing through walls and floating around the house.

All of this is very interesting if it has anything to do with the grounding sheets. I don’t expect this to happen every night, but I’m hopeful and will definitely keep it in mind.

Hey Xanous, I think I remember you from over a decade ago. It's good to see another old member making recent updates to their DJ. I plan on adding some entries for a while too
