This happened to me a while ago, and I've been meaning to share it and see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
Some background: I have had sleep paralysis for since I can remember. It terrified me as a child, and still usually does. I take supplements like 5-htp and melatonin to help my sleep cycle but I was not taking these at the time.

Anyways, I fell asleep in at friend's house. The next morning his roommate woke me up and said she was leaving, and I went back to sleep. This kind of thing usually happens when my sleep is disturbed and I go back into it.

I closed my eyes and a few minutes later the sleep paralysis kicks in. My body feels a surge of energy and I cannot move. Usually a spinning sensation accompanies this but this time it was just powerful energy in my whole body. Then I can see the room from the bed, but my eyes are closed. I look at a chair in the room (which wasn't actually there when I came to) and it starts to wave like a funhouse mirror. My first reaction was that I must have taken drugs probably because I had taken LSD in this room a month before. But soon I realize what is happening, when I try my hardest to move, anything my fingers and even toes won't budge. I "look" up at the ceiling and I start to see blue orbs of light coming out of my body in a stream. These orbs hit the ceiling and gather in an electro-static shimmering mass that grew larger and larger spreading across the ceiling.

"Oh God I am feeling what it's like to die" I thought to myself. I didn't actually think I was going to die but I was convinced my soul was leaving my body and I was watching and feeling it the whole time. Just when it got really intense I woke up.

I was amazed, perturbed and all-around mystified after that and have been ever since. Anyone ever have a similar experience???
