      so thats what its called

Hi all. Had the oddest dream a few nights ago, googled it and hullo, lucid dreaming. Didnt know it had a name. Only met one other that has ever experienced it. I've had this all my life as far back as i can remember.....trying not to think as a 5 yr old, so that makes it over 40 yrs. Got right into it as a teenager and had some extraordinary experiences but havent pushed it for a long time.....but this dream the other night.........Wheres Freud when you need him.

Is there anyone doing serious scientific research on this subject?

      cheers

On lucid dreaming? I wouldn't call it scientific, but this is even better! Welcome to dreamviews.
I'm apparently required to tell you to check out the Tutorials section, so you know how to produce even more of these awesome dreams!

PM me or a dream guide if you have any questions, or just post them here! Look around, enjoy, welcome to the family.

Welcome! And as the poster above me said...I don't know about any scientific research on Lucid Dreaming specifically, but these forums are definitely even better! But if you search through these forums you can I'm sure find lots of scientific info on it and other related concepts. Happy LDing!

      Haha. scientific.

I don't think lucid dreaming gets even half the attention it deserves, actually i'm sure everyone here will agree with that in someway - something about what benefits it has not being something accepted in mainstream society. when you think about it science may not be able to make lucid dreams better or easier to achieve...

Bah. I'm rambling again... but if you got a question, im sure you can get an answer, just ask

Yes, actually, there are. You should google Stephen LaBerge, he was one of the main people who proved scientifically that LDing is possible.

I know there are still some scientists experimenting with it, although I am not sure about the nature of these experiments.

Yes, there is. Hazel mentioned the main guy. Dr. Stephen Laberge of Stanford runs the Lucidity Institute. The lucidity institute does serious scientific research on lucid dreaming. His research is peer accepted and reviewed. As far as I know, he's the only guy who does it seriously.

I have alot of dreams where I know I'm dreaming. Maybe like a natural. But they are very low lucidity.
I remember the dreams and they are super awesome but not high level lucid.

When I try to have lucid dreams however, the lucid dreams are different. They are high level lucids.

My theory is that natural lucid dreamers have low level lucid dreams. Anyone?
