On lucid dreaming? I wouldn't call it scientific, but this is even better! Welcome to dreamviews. |

Hi all. Had the oddest dream a few nights ago, googled it and hullo, lucid dreaming. Didnt know it had a name. Only met one other that has ever experienced it. I've had this all my life as far back as i can remember.....trying not to think as a 5 yr old, so that makes it over 40 yrs. Got right into it as a teenager and had some extraordinary experiences but havent pushed it for a long time.....but this dream the other night.........Wheres Freud when you need him. |

Welcome! And as the poster above me said...I don't know about any scientific research on Lucid Dreaming specifically, but these forums are definitely even better! |

Yes, there is. Hazel mentioned the main guy. Dr. Stephen Laberge of Stanford runs the Lucidity Institute. The lucidity institute does serious scientific research on lucid dreaming. His research is peer accepted and reviewed. As far as I know, he's the only guy who does it seriously. |

No I havent. I actually get a bit sick of them as I would rather just pass out and wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning, and I find I usually wake up shortly afterwards and lie awake reliving it. But talking about writing stuff down....Many years ago as a very young fella my family were billeted with house guests. I was given the names and addresses on paper which I promptly lost. Under parental interrogation I recalled all the names which allowed us to call them by phone, bar one who had moved and the phone number not relisted. I went to bed that night telling myself I had to do something about it so kept a pad and pencil by the bed. Close eyes, snore snore and ... there I was back in the day before. I reconignized the timing and thought " someone is about to come up to me and give me these names and numbers. I must take note of the lost number, wake up and write it down. They did, I did, then woke and wrote it down and immediately passed out. First thing in the morning I gave the number to Dad, not letting on how I had come up with it. He rang, it was correct, and I was hooked. However my explaination was treated with christian distain and I was told to avoid dabbling in such dark realms. I ignored them. |

Thanks Shift. Nice to hear that. Was a little perturbed by the 'how can you kill ' threads ete etc. I not saying I havent tried it but found it disturbing and not without guilt since. I have been facinated by the mediative state that seems to allow/assist progression. A few times I have realised I need a bathroom visit in the wee hours (excuse pun) so have awoken, done the necessarys while maintaining a paused dream state, then gone back to bed and re-entered the dream. Spent a few years experimenting with breathing techiques to achieve out of body with some crazy results, so I cant help but feel it is all interconnected somehow. Have attempted to meet others also in a lucid state but of course it is all but impossible to corroborate. Surely this would be the ultimate result, so any info along those lines would be most appreciated. thanks again. |

Well, if you're looking for the more paranormal aspects of life try the Beyond Dreaming section, that's where you'll find information on shared dreaming and the like |
|
We used to have a thread trying to pair people up for shared dreaming experiments. We never had any big successes, but there were some interesting coincidences. I'll try to track it down. |

I have alot of dreams where I know I'm dreaming. Maybe like a natural. But they are very low lucidity. |
