Which one? Confusion? Well, you're likely to get lost aren't you? I mean, of course, you will get lost or confused in the AP. I mean, it's like an LD but in the real world, so if you're crap at waking up from LD'ing, you're Star Star Star Stared aren't you?

From what i gather just stick with the group, don't cause trouble or trouble finds you. You go messing with other things then the ones who like trouble look for you and it's "karma". If you see the woman or man who looks like everything you have ever wanted in a man/woman they will try and lure you to them and suck your energy untill you have none. They don't always find you though.

Getting lost? I get lost all the time! Seriously you never have to worry about permanently getting lost. Most people call it the silver cord, but in any case you'll always get back to your body pretty much no matter what happens. Think of it as a fail-safe. Like how you pass out if you hold your breath too long.

Moving on to relatively legitimate dangers. IMO. Take it or leave it; I'm not here to argue on the existence of astral projection or whatever. These are simply things that I have encountered in my experiences.

As long as you don't go on the lower planes (that is, the ones closest to the physical realm) you probably won't encounter anything bad. Most books fail to tell you this--they pretty much equate the astral with heaven and that's not the case. The astral mirrors the physical world. But as you get to the higher planes, they are less and less like the real world because they have less negativity. So obviously, to get there, you need to rid yourself of as much negativity as possible before traveling.

1. Energy manifests, created by either human or nonhuman entities. Can also be created by yourself unconsciously. They have little or no intelligence and are "programmed" for simple functions. They usually suck your energy away in order to sustain themselves. They can speak but normally no more than a few pre-programmed sentences, .i.e., "You are going to die." But their bark is worse than their bite; if you have a decent shield or aura you'll be fine, and if you know how to work with the energies, you can either transform the manifest or send it back to its maker.

2. Energy vampires. Some are manifests. Some are intelligent beings. A lot of real people tend to suck your energy away unconsciously. Usually it's best to just avoid too much contact with them. Non-human entities on the astral are very tricky; their power and ability varies a lot so you shouldn't underestimate them.

3. Human entities. People suck, and they still suck when they're out of their bodies. Although you probably won't meet almost any human beings with the kind of skill level that could cause serious damage. When it comes to what's commonly referred to as ghosts, just be careful if you are empathic; they tend to project their emotions onto you. I've never had problems with them taking energy. Some may react violently but honestly it's mostly a show; just stand your ground, keep a shield up and you'll be fine.

4. Non-human entities. Not to be messed with, don't care who you are or how good you think you are. I don't like to use to word demon, because personally I don't really believe in demons (ironically), but one thing I know for sure is that you will find beings of much higher intelligence on the astral planes, and some of them have a...questionable moral alignment, as my friend might say. Imho, your best bet in an encounter with these is to stand your ground, surround yourself with your shield with everything you got, and call a higher power and/or spirit guide for help.

Generally speaking, these can cause you to lose your sanity, they can cause damage to the nervous system, they can cause emotional problems; if you get your ass handed to you by them I guarantee you won't be getting up for several hours. They don't tend to take energy, curiously.

So there's my two cents, if you're genuinely curious to know.

When people say they get out of their body and fly out of the window... Do people not get scared about getting reality checks wrong and sleep walking and like jumping out of their window and hurting themselfs?

DreamingGod, you'll be hardpressed to find many that think there are any dangerous to AP.

I for one DO believe AP is real in the sense of it's your consciousness leaving your body. If that's what it is, then if you're not prepared and come across something like a neg, hold the possibility of "evil spirit", then yeah, it's more than likely you'll find yourself in a dangerous situation.

The biggest thing, have a definate path you want to take. Dont get lured in by anything, and do only things you would want done to you.

Great explanation, but CAN you actually die in there? Will you're physical body die? Has it ever happened? I've never heard of "Man dies due to an energy manifest sucking his energy out of him". Not to be rude or anything, I'm just wondering.

Die? No, worse. Much worse.

I'm curious about why you're curious. Out-of-body experiences are real enough, but why do you want to be out of your body if you have no idea what to expect once you're out? If you're looking for a thrill, you'd do better to keep your spirit in your body and your feet on the ground! If you're searching for spiritual truth or seeking God (same thing, really) then there's much more to the story! But I really caution everybody against going "out there" looking for a joy ride!! You're sure to find quite the opposite of joy.

Seizures, profuse vomiting, migranes and loss of limbs.

I have been curiose about AP as well. Certainly not for entertainment purposes (LDs work great for that).

No worries, it's an honest question.

My answer? I dunno. Most books on AP will tell you that there is no danger whatsoever. A few will mention things like manifests taking your energy. I've never seen advice on defense that goes beyond "visualize a white light around you" and/or "Pray, have faith that nothing can harm you" and/or "call your spirit guide for help." So if it has happened, it's pretty much unheard of.

Now, I've certainly been threatened with death. I've felt like I've been close to it. But that is still a very very far cry from the real thing.

But anyway I'm leaning towards no, unless you run into some almost god-like being that wanted to kill you. Which is so unlikely that there's almost no reason for me to mention it.

Lol i agree. There has been nothing life threatning for me either, but i guess it could happen. If enough energy was sucked out of you and you couldnt get back to your body.. but i doubt that would happen as it is easy to get back to your body in time after being attacked by a succumbi or incumbi or w/e.

And to answer the question, it would probably be due to "natural causes", or at least that is what they would say at your funeral.

But good land, again, there is really nothing to fear. You are so much stronger in the AP, that even the stuff talked about can be avoided. IT is a joy ride, and if you want to go out and explore the world, go to the moon or other planets, or go sneak into a private area that you have never been allowed to before, then its a thrill. If your seeking inner truth or w/e, i guess that could happen too, but once thats done whats the purpose of going AP? Well, the joy ride

The worst things that have happened to me while I've been in the AP state is that sometimes curious things follow me home. They leave once I fully wake up. Once I had some kind of entity (human male shadow form) follow me back to my dorm room in college. It didn't want me to wake up. My college was built on land that used to belong to the Sioux tribe.
The first night I stayed in my parent's new house, another entity (human woman semi-shadow) followed me back to my bed. I was pretty surprised, but I think she was trying to tuck me in.

I am a newbie to this, so I don't know much. But I have been in the astral realm loads of time before and nothing happened to me. In the astral realm, we are the most powerful creatures, we can control with the power of our thoughts.

All the people I know that are traveling in the astral, every book I read about AP says that the astral zone is totally safe. All the bad creatures you see are nothing but your fear. All you have to do is to face them. Other than that, your journey is free. Yes, I have seen few monsters like huge werewolf like dogs and hairy shadows but they all go after I confront them because I know that they cant harm me because unlike them, I am attached to my physical body. If their present annoys you, just use your imagination to make them go away.

And also, I had sex couple of times in Astral. And my energy didn't get sucked or any myths like that. You're totally safe.

Aslong as you have your mind, you'll be okay. Your thoughts are the most powerful thing.

Thanks for your input, but personally, not getting your energy sucked out would ruin the fun! I'm going to get shit on for saying this but, I'd think of it like a video game in real life, like GTA 4 for example. You can beat the shit out of anyone, but you're probably going to get messed up if you go hitting the wrong people. I'd be willing to take the punishment of getting my energy sucked out if I committed a crime.

No one take me 100% seriously, because I have yet to see the astral plane, I'm sure my opinion will change when I get there.
