It is an odd world we live in.

Well, I'm now convinced what i experienced wasn't an OBE, (having read more about it)just a waking guided meditation with a witchy-poo of an ending.

      or, for short a WGMWPE

Having an out of body experience while you are awake is very easy to do. You do not have to have OBE's strictly through the astral body; for some reason that is a big misconception. In fact I almost never do that because it makes me so damn sleepy and it just isn't very fun in my opinion.

Your experience is more or less determined by where your attention point is. So all you have to do is learn how to move your attention point out of your body. Now the problem is that for most people they only have enough awareness, and inner permission, to have their attention point in maybe 2 or 3 places in their body-space (with their frontal sinus/analyzer/problem solver space being one of those), because of all the underlying unconscious programming. So that means if you can't move your attention point at will, and experience all kinds of weird and wild stuff as a result, that you have to learn how to do that. Also it helps to learn how to match, and un-match, different energies.

But after you have that down, here is what I suggest:

What I do is open my crown chakra very wide and then move my attention point out of my body, above my head, and then into a star. It's great to do it at night when you can actually see the stars. You should start hearing music inside your head very clearly, seeing interesting/strange images, and your whole body will vibrate really intensely. You probably will not be able to go to sleep right away. The longer you spend moving your attention point out of body the more intense the experience will be. So some people may have to spend 3 days to a week meditating on moving that point out of their bodies. Usually it takes just as long to meditate to get back into the body though.

Also you should, ideally, know how to ground really well or you could be screwed trying to get back into your body, but chances are your unconscious programming is so heavy that might not necessarily be a problem. Also, it might light up all the transmedium energy, and death pictures, in your space and you could experience some not so fun things too. Everyone is different. Also, coming back into the body, it is important to close down the upper chakras very slowly, otherwise intense splitting pain in the head can occur.

(There are various ways of learning to move your attention point; it certainly helps to practice moving your point of attention to different spots in your body, during meditation, as a first step. Another good tool is to practice dissolving your perception of body boundaries consciously. We do this all the time unconsciously. Like right now, how aware are you of your feet on the ground? Or did they just pop back into your awareness? What you can do is to get a small towel and scrunch it up and then lay down and place that towel on your face; be aware of the towel, then let it dissolve into your face (mentally speaking), so that you are no longer aware of the towel, then after that let your perception of your own face disappear.)

super vague. also...sitting on the couch sounds like a relaxed state of consciousness.....almost falling asleep perhaps? daily waking activities may have involved watching tv and getting drowsy?....odd world we live in for sure.

      Hi,

I am new, this topic is the sole reason why I searched google to find out why I was having awake OBE's as a child, and I found the dreamviews site and this thread.

These awake outer body experiences only happened to me as a child from about 5-10 yrs old, maybe 11 years old.

The weird thing is that EVERY single awake OBE that I experienced was taking place in the same exact location, and never a different location, as far as I could tell.

The awake OBE would usually take place while I was riding in the backseat of my parents car when I was a child. I had a brother that was a year and two months older than me, and was always in the backseat of our parents' car with me when this happened (give or take a couple of times that I remember being alone because my brother wasn't with us at the time)

It would come on at such random times, even while I was totally coherent and not resting my head on the window etc (this would happened while I was in conversation at times, and that is what is so frightening to me about the awake OBE's)

I will now try to explain this as best as I can and hopefully someone can offer some insight as to what was going on.

When I would go into the awake outer body experience (only kind of OBE that I am aware of that I have ever experienced), I was always felt an overwhelming sense of paralysis that had control over my whole body, except for my eyes. The weird thing is sometimes I would be watching my experience in first person, and sometimes in third person (or looking at myself from out of my body), and sometimes it would switch back and forth from first person view to outer body view looking at myself and my surroundings. The setting was always a white room that was almost like a very large warehouse of what seemed to be at least 50-100,000 sq ft of space, and the walls, floor, ceiling were all large white porcelain looking tiles. No windows at all anywhere that I could see. Every Time I came to this place I was always in a large tube that seemed to be about a 3-4 ft circumference. This is where the frightening part would begin. I was always in this clear tube, always laying on my back, but not touching the bottom, or any part of the perceived tube that I was inside. Every single time that I had these awake outer body experiences I was brought to this exact place and was always in this clear tube (think exactly like the human transport tubes from the television show Futurama), and always moving at very fast speeds going feet first (almost like a bobsledding motion, but not ever touching the tube itself, ever), and the sensation of moving so fast through this tube would often make me feel symptoms of Nausea). I know, I thought it was weird too when I saw the very similar tubes on Futurama (which instantly made me think of these awake OBE's as a young boy), however, Futurama did not air until 1999, and I stopped having these experiences around 1993-1994. I am 32 years old now.

The tube was weaved all around this giant white room, and I was always moving very fast through this tube (I mean pulling G force type feeling). The only other noteworthy thing I would ever see besides the tube, and the giant, very bright white room was 3 humanoid type figures sitting at a white desk or table of sorts. These beings, whatever they were, seemed to be controlling the speed of my body through this clear tube. I remember always being at least 10-20 ft off of the floor, and never could make out the faces or sex of the beings that were always seated at this table, or control panel for the tube. I never heard them speak, or enter my mind, but I would always see them. I felt as if one of them was female for some unknown reason that I cannot explain.

This is really giving me the chills just recounting these memories, but I want to know why. I guess that is the human condition.

I often remember snapping out of it and my brother or parents would just be staring at me, and asking what was wrong with me. I think I tried to explain it once to my parents and they didn't believe me , or something like that. I remember the last time I had this experience was when I was on vacation with my mother, father, and brother in New Jersey. I live in TX btw.

We stayed at the Ramada Inn in Freehold, NJ. We were visiting my Great Aunt and Uncle who lived in Freehold (they have both passed away since, sadly). My family went for a swim in the hotel pool at Ramada and I remember the water was cold for summer time. We swam, had fun, etc.. Then we were to go to my Aunt and Uncles house for dinner. I remember everything so vividly from that day. My Aunt made zitti from scratch, and while we were relaxing after dinner I had one of the only awake outer body experiences that I can recall that took place while I was not riding in a car. I was sitting on my Aunt and Uncles sofa or chair, went into this awake OBE, then when I came out of it I felt very dizzy, I mean very dizzy. I went out to the front yard, vomited, then collapsed. I started to feel extremely ill and began to have a high temperature. The vomiting continued, the fever go higher, and then my Aunt and Uncle told my parents to take me to the hospital ER. I remember the doctors taking blood, pricking my finger for some reason, and some other tests. I was very weak, and very hot.

The doctors told my family that I had pneumonia and that it was severe. I remember the doctors suggested to my parents that I not be subjected to the car drive back to TX, but for some reason (maybe money, IDK), I was driven home in the rental car back to TX with a bad case of pneumonia. The car ride from NJ back to TX was pure hell, but I did sleep a lot.

This was the last time I ever had an awake outer body experience. I was about 10-11 years old or so, and the pneumonia sucked really bad, but at least I did not continue to have those bizarre experiences any longer.

That is my account of my awake OBE's. I hope I never have one again. Honestly! I wish that on nobody.

(The feeling I would have after the tube rides was always really similar to the feeling one would have after leaving a wave pool, disorienting)

I am fine now, and don't usually even dream while sleeping.

      Thanks for listening

and this is the pool. I just went to Ramadas website to get this pic, and honestly I am shocked that the hotel is still called a Ramada, and that the pool and outside of the hotel looks exactly the same as it did when I was a boy.

I tried to post a link to Ramada Toms River NJ website, but I'm a newbie to this site and have to wait 3 days according to the rules for new users.

      Hello

An obe is just that an out of body experience. When you exit your body you should be in your room that you were in when the experience began. I am always fully awake during obes my body jerks awake and then the fun begins. I can look back at my body my room is as it always is and I just move through the house. Anything other then the real world around you this is an astral projection. An astral projection can have the same feelings as an obe but are completely different. I have had thousands and thousands of both astral projections and obes and I absolutely know the difference between them.

The best times is when astral entities come to play within the dream states or astral experiences as their minds and mine combine to form great levels. I have the coolest experiences.

      Hello Gab

I have tried a few times to teach this method to others but I think it depends on the person.

I start out by just realizing my intent to get out of body prior to laying down. When I lay down I lay flat on my back. I always sleep with a sheet or blanket over me. I place my feet together and raise them up and pull the blanket loosely under my my legs so my feet stay together and perpendicular to the bed this is important. I take my hands and interweave them but loosely placing them somewhere between my navel and chest, palms down relaxed. I make sure my elbows are pointed outward as far as possible releasing any kind of pressure on my hands and fingers.

There are seven points of observation that you must understand. The first is the feet relax them and then move upward, second and third slow your breathing and your heart rate, forth relax your whole body on exhale slowing your breathing. Five do not close your eyes for nothing you will fall asleep. six is the place at the back of the neck and where it meets the shoulders relax here and then the head feeling the weight of your head in the pillow. By this point you should not feel your feet very well anymore and your hands should almost feel connected and inseparable. The last point is the pelvis relax and then move back through.

Start at the feet again and move upwards again, important do not close your eyes, roll them in the back of your head if you have to.

The eyes are only a distraction to allow your mind to stop concentrating on the method. Soon your mind will just stop and you will fall into phase and then out this will happen several times and then you will either exit or you will sleep better then you ever have. Mind awake body asleep
