Time is the measure of action. It can't be slowed down because it doesn't exist literally, only figuratively. So, the only way to get the desired effect is to move faster and thus requiring a faster reaction speed. However, the time won't slow down for you then, you won't be in some slowed version of reality where you can take longer to make decisions at normal speed. You'll be moving at extreme speed and that's why you'll need the faster reaction speed to handle it.

i think you can train yourself to have faster reaction time to the point where it seems like things slow down a little bit, but nothing extreme like in the movies

personally I used to box guys all the time in highschool, and from my point of view, with the adrenaline pumping, when I got into the heat of the fight, it was almost as if time slowed down, punches were flying super fast but there were always these moments of almost standstill clarity or super fast thought or whatever you want to call it where time seemed to almost stop and I was able to make many decision almost at the same time

one example that comes to mind is this one fight I had backed the guy up against a wall and it was like in those kung fu movies where he punched and I kinda watched his fist go by my head and at the same time I saw an opening in his guard and like in slow motion I put a perfectly executed uppercut into his gut, and slammed a right hook into the side of his face, awesome KO

other times that time seems to slow down for me is when I am reading, I get cought up into the books flow of time and in the span of reading for twenty minutes it feels to me like I have been reading for hours

oops, im ranting, sorry anyway, good thread

If your moving faster, then everything else will seem to move slower...

So...to get the same effects, you could slow down time.

Slowing down time is possible in a dream, yes. I have also had other people move at extreme speeds, while i'm moving slower.

I have ran at super speed as well, but my brain didn't think any faster.

Time. Is. A. Measure. Of. Action.

      It isn't an independant energy/object/etc.
It can't be slowed down because it doesn't exist. There is no such thing as time, only the concept used to describe how long something took to do.

Wow i wasnt expecting such a large topic. Anyway though, yes i agree with Merlock as time being a representation of the forward motion of the 4th demension.

Hey Mr. Faded glory, can you explain further?

And yes, i was thinking that if you move really fast and you get your reaction and thought skill up, you can make everything else seem insanly slow. But could you ever get it so that if you see, as an example, a lady accross the parking lot about to drop her milk carton, and you can go and save it before it hits the ground.. and then return back to your original position so that the lady has no idea who did it? It would be pretty kool if the human body could work that way..

Speaking of, do you guys think when your astral you could slow down time..? I dont see how it could help, because you are pretty much invisible, but it might be a way to get started..?

You could but that's the point I'm trying to make: the time wouldn't slow down for you. You'd still be moving at 100000 km per second and your reaction would (need to) be relative to that. You wouldn't be moving at regular speed like it's shown in a lot of fiction while everything around is hardly moving. You'd be moving insanely fast, with insanely fast reflexes and making insanely fast actions. The only difference between you and others would be that you have those reflexes and can handle the insane speed just like you can handle normal speed and they can't at lack of such reaction.

This is probably different but sometimes when i play video games as the one i used to play it's really fast speeds it would seem as if time slowed down when i'm playing and sometimes it's too fast i can't keep up. I'm sure it's nothing like this but a mental thing, though.
