Increasing Heart Rate

Well I had a idea inspired by Buffy the Vampire slayer. On one episode someone a main character had a very fast heart beat his heart beat gave him beyound human strength. Now I wanted to know how to increase your heart rate without using drugs(I'm a buddhist) and excersive. Any suggestion as I think having a really fast heart beat may have effects on dreaming or make you stronger and smarter. Once I get enough information I will post a technique on it. P.S. Well the reasoning is that maybe the change in blood flow will change brain activity, I remeber a few weeks ago breathing very deep and fast or hyperventiallting, however your body pumps your blood full of a chemical to counter the high amounts of oxygen.

I remember seeing a Derren Brown video where he slows his heart rate down to remove feelings of pain. then he walked an rolled on glass and didn't get hurt. I don't know about increasing heart rate. Get in a fight.. that really gets the adrenaline going!
