      Thumbs up

Hi there! IT'S THREAD TIME :sweat1:

I had a weird experience last night and this thread is based on that. Let's start from the top!

When I go to sleep I sometimes imagine the most cliche of dream worlds, so I can imagine myself being there, get relaxed, and fall asleep faster. The reason it's a giant cliche (I mean, it has a castle for crying out loud and the girl I'm in love with is the princess that lives there) is because it takes less effort to imagine. The next thing I do is try to cut all my thoughts off; when I begin thinking in a sentence I immidiatly know what I meant so there's no reason to 'say' the whole thing out loud. Basicly it's all very innutiative. It takes a little concentration and I certainly can't get myself to stay focussed when I've just watched, like, the most awesome action movie ever.

Anyway - it was the same thing last night, back in my borderworld between being awake and being asleep. I tried to focus on the sound the grass makes when I step on it and how it feels when I lie down on my hill (yes, I have a hill - which has a beautiful view of the castle by the way), all to make that world a little more real. Now one thing that always happens when I do this is that after a while I get the feeling that all my other senses are blocked and everything turns black - it's very soothing. I've translated this to the first thing I thought off so now my dreamworld has giant shutters in the sky.

Well, to make things even more relaxing I thought I'd lie in the grass and fall asleep. So here I was lying in bed, imagening I was lying on my hill trying to fall asleep, trying to fall asleep. Weird thing was that I suddenly felt as if I was falling through myself (in the real world, I mean), until it felt like I was about halfway through and I shocked and woke up. It all happened in less than a second but it was certainly a weird feeling, I didn't feel the bed anymore and I just fell.

Now I know that this whole subsection is based on things that go beyond dreaming and all that, so I thought I'd have a better chance of a good answer here. Just out of curiousity!

Aye, this gets asked every other week. Then again, it's been brought up three times this week already so those statistics are false, hahah.

Anyway, you experienced a hypnic jerk. Happen all the time when falling asleep, most often associated with the feeling/visualisation of tripping and falling, then being shocked awake.
So not much "beyond dreaming" about it, really.

I was hoping for something a bit more spectacular. Ah well!
