I read about shared lucid dreaming somewhere... Where you actually go find another person while they're dreaming and you can communicate, etc. with them that way, then when you wake up both of you remember the dream. So, I just want to know if this is actually possible(?).

I wanted to do the same thing! I'm not sure of the answer, though.

nothing is possible until u discover it bengamin franklin didnot invent electricity, it was already there but he discovered it just like lucid dreams are not created but discovered behind ur subconscious mind...there might be a way that we can indeed use telepathy to connect to other dreamers through lucid dreams.. indeed a shared lucid dream can be that telepathy took place...u never now

Some people say it is, some people say it isn't. I am personally very sceptical but there's a section of this message board that deals exclusively with the paranormal side of lucid dreaming, shared dreams, astral travel etc. If you're interested in shared dreaming I'd check it out.

no. its not possible. how the hell would you "connect" to someone else's mind? you arent transported to another plane of existence when you dream. its only your subconcious' perception of the world. the mind is not like the internet.

I'm not really sure about shared dreaming. I'm personally sceptical, however it would be nice if you could visit your friends in dreams.

      Woah, woah, hold up, everyone.

Synchronized dreaming, or whatever you want to call it, is real. I had one when I was much younger.

I understand that it sounds impossible, but don't jump to conclusions like that.

Once, my father and his brother decided to try a shared dream. My uncle thought up a password, and my father, that same night, had a lucid dream... sadly, it didn't work. In the dream, my father went up to my uncle and asked for the password. He replied "Apple10101". The next day, my father called his brother on the phone and found that the real password was "Cheesecake".

      cutterkk,

you DREAMT about having a shared dream. there is no way to connect to someone else's mind.. if it was true, people could speak to each other through their minds. don't think thats possible.

      nice try, though.

It's a good idea to give a password to your friend/family member in your dream. If she remembers it then it's certain you've experienced a shared dream.

Thumbs up Add a "yes" to the list

In 1996 I went through a situation where I could not go to sleep due to fear. I met someone that had shamanic abilities that suggested we meet up in the dream plane so that she could look at what was attaching to me energy-wise.

Sounds like fantasy bull, right? I thought so too, at that time.

But desperate to try anything, I agreed with the suggestion and intended it to happen as I went to sleep.

The next day, I went to the chat area to meet back up with "LaceyRae," and she told me the exact dream that I had with her in it. This was before I even told her anything! She described how she was sitting exactly where I remembered seeing her, and she was wearing a dream symbol that she told me I could identify her by. For me, that's way beyond coincidence. She lived in Tenessee at the time, and I lived in Rhode Island.

I was not lucid in that dream, but I remembered it with exceptional detail. From that point on, I'd stake anything on the concept that it is indeed real.

And if you are metaphysically inclined, then you already know that the dream plane is an extension of conciousness and is just as real as our reality. To limit the dream plane to our own mind is a bit short-sighted, in my opinion.

But! I just drew a line in the sand where many people believe one school of thought, while others believe the more ethereal view. Let's either agree or agree to disagree. I'm just passing on my own personal account.

      Cheers!

Thank you for not instantly jumping to a conclusion.

Again, I understand that it sounds impossible, and I wouldn't believe it myself if I hadn't had one. But hey, couldn't you say the same for lucid dreaming(although it's actually possible to explain, my point still stands)?

And I'm absolutely certain that I wasn't dreaming that we both remembered the exact same dream. Nice try, though.

Dude, you're on a forum about lucid dreaming. Try explaining that to someone who knows nothing about it, and you're pretty much in my situation right now. (if you want to call it a situation)

Go ahead and be skeptical, but don't deny it altogether. That's just ignorant.

so I may be sceptical, but I'm open to possibilities. And can we try not to argue.

I remember once at my cousins me and my bro were sleeping on the floor.

I remember having a dream were there were two random DCs and him. Me and the DCs started to walk away from him, and I turn around and see him about 20 feet away. He lifts his arm up as if he's about to start waving. At that exact moment I wake up and I'm facing my brother who's laying 4-5 feet away from me. He sleep talked saying "Hey guys, wait for me!" - and I'm sitting there thinking "no way... it can't be!?!" - so I start shaking him and he wakes up. I ask him what he was dreaming about - "uhh... I don't remember", damn! There were went my only chance for a validation

I think it's possible, though extremely rare, that two minds may somehow be able to communicate with each other. Will all the electric signals going off in our heads during dreaming, maybe even scientifically, the magnetic fields that are produced - can maybe be picked up by another brain, and translated back to electric signals. That wouldn't explain people having shared dreams that are miles apart though.

Funny, the shared dream I had involved me and my brother as well, and I woke up speaking what I was saying in the dream.

It's very random, but I suppose I'd better describe it a little. For one reason or another, me and my family were in Italy. We were eating at an outdoor restaurant. I was about to eat some sausage when we suddenly went into a nearby building for something important. The building was very tall, and we went to the the top, into a strange room. It was a regular room, but it was a "movie threatre" of some kind, except it just had people sitting in a circle around a TV. I looked out the window, and noticed that there was a dog below, eating the food we hadn't finished yet. I woke up saying, "Aww, I didn't even get to eat the sausage..."

My brother woke up at the exact same time, and I asked him about it the following day. He told me he remembered the exact same dream.

I have had a shared lucid dream with my cuzin. i had just realized i was lucid dreaming, so i conjured up a door and i imagened my cuzin on the othr side and opened the door. there she was. we flew on magic carpets and then she just disappeared, so i woke myself up and asked what she just did in the last 3 minutes. she said she had just waken up. i asked her if she had remembered any dreams and she said..."well, i remember one about flying on a magic carpet with you..."

I believe you, and I believe a lot of the shared dreaming stories so I believe shared dreaming exists, but unfortunately there's no way to prove it unless everyone on Earth experiences it.

Yeah, it happens MUCH less frequently than lucid dreaming(hardly ever), so there's no scientific proof that it exists yet, and since it can't be triggered manually, there's no way of testing if it exists.

As for methods to get it to work... I got nothing. Perhaps two experienced lucid dreamers dreaming that they would find each other in a dream...?

I fear that it might only work with people who are sleeping relatively in close proximity. All 3 of of the dreams mentioned here involved people in the same room/house, which would make testing even more complicated.
