Half dream, half reality

Right this happaned when i was about the age of 5 and i have always wondered what was acturly happaning.

Right this is what happaned; I was sleeping in my cot and i woke up and saw the light was on as usaul because i was scared of the dark. The fan was on aswell (this fan is connected to the wall and sucks the air from outside the house and brings it into me bedroom) and i really couldn't sleep and turned my head on to the pillow trying to get to sleep. Every thing seemed a bit abnormal a bit hazey as to say and then a i heard a voice. I looked at the light and there was a face on the light shade. It was a bit morphed and all of his face was different shades of grey. It said "Go to sleep or i will kill you....GO TO SLEEP OR I WILL KILL YOU". I was so scared i turned my head onto the pillow trying to get to sleep but i couldn't. Things were getting hazeyer.

That from that point i think was a dream but here comes the reality bit.

I turned to look up at the light and the lamp shade was getting bigger and he was laughing and then my worst fear came. A figure wrapped in black was coming towards me but it was strange even though i was scared it didn't seem to notice me at all. The lamp shade kept laughing and screaming those words out. I looked at the dark figure and he went along my bed to the end. At the end was my fan and it was on. The black figure reached out and switched the fan off.

Heres the strange part.

As he switched it off everything gained back its clarity and the light shade had no face. I looked back at the figure and it was my dad(my dad seemed to have blackness spirling of but it was only for a fraction of a second). I knew i was back in reality as you know how things feel in a dream and reality. I hugged my dad and he said that all did was he switched the fan of and didn't want to wake me up.

So how is it that at the same time i was kind of dreaming about the fan being switched of by a black figure but in reality it did happen at the same time.

That's easy, You had your eyes open and saw your dad coming in to turn it off. In your dreaming haze, your dad was replaced with something else.

Your subconscious even recognized him as the scary authority figure and represented it to you as only a 5 year old can understand (Go to sleep or I'll kill you). Of course, you were dreaming that you were awake, saw your dad and got scared of punishment because you were not asleep yet (which you were).

You might have sensed your dad coming in using your hearing or smell as well but you knew it was him as you usually know by hearing who’s walking around the house from the pattern you are familiar with.

It is very common that your dreams are driven by all your senses. This morning I woke up from a dream hearing a cop yell “Get your hands up!” repeatedly, then slowly, the sentence gradually morphed into warf warf warf warf. My dog barking. Makes sense, in my colourful language, we call cops dogs (I‘m not a truant, it‘s just the mind playing a complex association game).

No problem. It was fun. Adult dreams are way more complex.

Hehe. You expect that sort of thing to happen in the movies.
