Just wanted to see what the general forum population thought of Astral Projection, and whether they have experienced it or not. If you don't believe in it, state why, but let's keep arguments to a minimum. As I struggle to even attain lucid dreams, I haven't set any goals for AP, and was just wondering if it were to even be worth the time trying to achieve it.
After having countless experiences of both astral projection and lucid dreams, I have arrived at the conclusion that there isn't much difference between the two. There are differences, but nothing of significance that would warrant holding one type of experience in higher regard than the other. They are basically experiences of the same nonphysical reality perceived from somewhat different reference points.

The only thing I can say is that I am interested in PERSONALLY coming to my own conclusion on determining if I BELIEVE it to exist or not. That should be all that matters to you...if you believe in astral projection or not. For me, astral projection is more than just a name or description. For me LD, Astral Projection, and all the other titles should lead and guide you to what is important to you. For me that path is ENLIGHTENMENT. For you it can be something totally different and guess what? That's entirely ok.
Don't go by what other people believe (even though some of information is very helpful only if you gain a better understanding on where you are trying to go and what you are trying to achieve). The main thing should be to read, study, and practice and it will become clearer in what you believe and what you want to achieve.
In my own personal experience, I know that I was involuntarily taken to a place where there was nothing there but a sense of peace and love and even though I saw no one or being, I knew within a shadow of a doubt I wasn't alone. What I felt, they felt. What they felt, I felt. In this place, the light was so bright that I was literally blinded and I'm not talking about just blinded by sight. I was blinded in awe, in words that couldn't describe what I was seeing, blinded by humbleness and humility because someone thought I was worthy enough to have taken part in this remarkable experience, and blinded in the fact that I never knew of a feeling of love like that could exist. There was nothing I could identify (i.e., chair, car, people, plants, etc.) because everything seemed to be in abstract formation. But somehow I understood what the abstract meant because we were all vibrating as one and in one accord.
Now...was that an astral projection? I do not have enough experience to say 'yes' or 'no,' but I do know that I was allowed to take part and experience in something that this world can't give to me nor can this world take it away from me. And because of that experience...I will never be the same. *BTW, because of this experience that is why I always now end my messages with 'One Love.'
No matter how many post you read, no matter how many post you reply to, no matter how many times you contemplate getting serious about Lucid Dreaming...you are the only one that can answer that question on if it is WORTH YOUR TIME.Quote:

Is sort of a false question because it works with the premise that when you say Belief in astral. That both the one answering the question and the one asking the question have the same subjective perspective on what this word mean.Quote:

In other words, when you say Astral you think of something that you belief means astral but another person may well belief something else entirely.
So the answers will be very subjective and scrutiny from other parties are pointless with this subject because everyone holds very different views on this whole thing!!!
I believe the Astral is commonly thought to be a system/spectrum/gradient of somewhat objectively existing nonphysical realities just above the frequency of the physical dimension, whereas lucid dreams are believed by some adepts to be experiences in the Mental dimension, which is higher in frequency than the Astral dimensions, where the fabric of reality is essentially a mirror of one's mind. I do believe there are overlays here, where an experience may be part Astral and part Mental, and thus lies the difficulty in distinguishing these experiences.
I certainly don't make a distinction between astral and LDing. But if it had to be any it is the 'reality' of astral would be more consistent than LDing.. but i haven't seen much of this myself. But saying so I believe LDing has the potential of reality as much as ur own will allows it to be.
I guess some of those experiences are similar to NDE but in my case I wasn't near death (at least I don't think I was???). It was just a normal night and WBTB session and then lucid. However, I do believe in order to be 'aware' spiritually you must not be so aware of your physical body. In other words...maybe I was having a near 'physical' death experience.Quote:

I have had five different types of experiences while asleep, and whereas labeling them may be rather meaningless, I distinguish between them and rarely am in any doubt which category to put my experiences in.
- Dreams, with wildly unstable (and malleable) but rather ordinary, and not very detailed, environments.
- OBE's, which seem exactly like the physical world (but always in a strange blueish twilight).
- AP's, which tend to be extremely weird, but with intensely detailed and fairly solid environments.
- A grey fog.
- Thoughts (this is really strange; waking up with a clear memory of logical reasoning having taken place without any environment at all).
I lean towards believing that the physical universe, as we normally understand it, is only a smaller part of the "whole thing". And also that we may access the rest of this "whole thing" during sleep.
i believe in astral projection because it happened to me randomly when i was lying in bed just about to get up my body started vibrating and i could hear buzzing in my ears and the vibrating and the buzzing just kept getting faster and louder and my body was separating and i was wide awake when this all happened. I heard you can AP from a lucid dream too but i don't know what the difference would feel like?
I have done the technique to AP but I have also done the technique to WILD and there's not much difference between the two techniques. My AP's always seemed no different than a lucid dream.
Having said that, I still believe there is some sort of astral fabric where beings reside and quite possibly where we go when we die.
Like VinceField said, when we dream it is in the mental plane, but sometimes we venture into the astral too.
Many times during the end of my dreams I became lucid and when the dream fades, it leaves me inside a strange region. There is noise, vibrations, loss of orientation and I feel a force that tries to move my body. Most of the times I force myself to wake up while in this region because it is frightening, and the effects will take about 30 minutes to settle down as if I fell asleep immediately I will go directly to this region. One time I managed to separate while I was in there and I barely verified the indicators of an Astral Projection as my vision was extremely narrow and cloudy (I could see my sleeping body).
