I was wondering is it really possible to have a shared Lucid Dream. I would love someone try this out for me I would myself but I cannot have a LD. All you have to do is what it is called Share a Lucid Dream then once you wake up wirte it down then call that person & see if it in fact was shared. Would prefere two experts.

it's a therory that it is possible and I would like to find a partner to try it out with. I think it is more of a matter of personal belief, it may be possible I believe in it and I'm am looking to attempt it and reading over that it realy wasn't a helpful answer but meh i tried :P
It was not a Lucid Dream, but I shared a dream with a person. Back in college decades ago, when I was a starving student, I dreamt I was wondering around the Cafeteria looking for food on the 'lines'. I met a friend there who was there for the same purpose and we discussed what we had so far found, as we each came from opposite directions. The next morning we met in the hallway and we were lucky enough to decide to speak simultaneously -- she giving me my lines, and my telling her what she had said; therefore there was no doubt that we had had the same dream.Quote:

So, one does not need to be lucid in order to share a dream. It is only necessary that two people dream in the same dream location. This can be accomplished through auto-suggestion -- affirmations often repeated, or self-hypnosis.
Yes, it is possible, but you would have to be at a high level of LDing usually to do it.
Also, should this be in Beyond Dreaming, since it is on DSing?
if it is possible how would you initiate something like a shared lucid dream?
my idea of how to have a shared lucid dream, would be to first be lucid(of course!), then one of you involved in having this dream(assuming that 2 people are doing it) would have to travel to the other persons dream, OR both would have to meet at a same dream location. already being lucid.
since i cant seem to remember to do these things in the few lds i have, i have never experimented with how to actually travel to someone elses dream although i have some ideas of how to do that. and again, i would have to agree with nesgirl119 that this should definately be in the beyond dreaming section...

If the latter is true, then sharing dreams with others could also be true.
I firmly believe that the inner space we occupy during astral projection is also share by the same time and space of the outer space that we know if.
i think that they could take place in both of your descriptions. i think they occur more in your own mind though....

I also have heard several personal accounts of close friends who have shared dreams with people they were very close to like friends and family members.

Just taking a shot at this, but it could be possible that you both "filled in" the conversation of your "dream" with the dialogue you exchanged. Similiar to those who believe they have predicted the future.

This divide in views is truly a theme common in much forum dialogue, and other theories I have come across throughout many different sources. Two views on whether dreams come from the mind and our dreams are simply our inner world of experience, or perhaps a combination of the mind & foreign energy that we interpret through our own dream seeing. Lucid Dreaming is an altered state of awareness, to have shared dreams IS possible – Why not the possibility of two people to be able to shift their awareness together to find themselves in the same plane of existence – like our daily awareness of regular life (something we do everyday collectively as humans – we wake up in this world everyday together until our death).
If only our interpretation system (our own pattern of thinking, feeling and behaving) could be halted from our habitual condition, only then are great things possible.

In the dream, we were both at a very specific location, and we spoke of ver specific things. There was nothing general about the conversation. If there was I would have conceded that this dream was by no means conclusive. The simple answer is, yes it exists and is possible.
Not just because of the thousands of people who have had dream sharing experiences. but I have had a personal dream sharing experience which has proved it to me once and for all. I have also had other dreams about information and events that I could never have possibly known that have being verified in real life.

Light was not supose to act the way it did, when it was tested. because it did not conform to their mathematical predictions. How it acted was, "impossible" yet it still acted that way.
People have always had incomplete theorys and understanding about what they thought was true in the past. And it has been followed by a realization of higher understanding. So why do you think your understanding about things now is any different. Because something does not make sense to you, or that you do not understand how it could work. In no way makes it something that actually is illogical or impossible.

okay, I like to think of it as a dream telepathy, as opposed to a shared lucid dream and it takes practice.
Initially, you could become lucid, and call another person into your dream (which is very easy, simply call out to them until they appear, or knock on a door and expect them to answer it, for example) start talking, trying to feel if the other person is also "there" and lucid. It may not work at first, especially in the beginning, and for verification purposes you may want to have a control question, which person A asks and doesn't know the answer to and person B knows the question and has the answer. And upon waking, person A will verify if any answer(s) received are correct.
In my experience, after a month of trying, with about four successful lucid dreams a week, but working with a very inexperienced partner, the dreams began to take place in the same location, and involve the same other individuals...in short, we began to have very similar dreams.
Upon reflection on the experiment, some mistakes I made that could be remedied in future tests: try to get a partner who is also an experienced lucid dreamer and choose a location in which to "meet".

Shared lucid dreams are very possible but take a little dedication from all individuals involved.

You need to try to connect to the other person one way or another. Attempt to make a portal into their dream and cross through it by either going through a door or going through a wall. In my most vivid shared dreaming experience I actually ending up passing through "myself" or rather a body double of myself. It was quite strange...but only managed to do so out of sheer determination. I think if the will is there, you will be able to find a way.
The two dreamers must be very much in synch and extremely close in order for this to work so if there is someone you want to share dreams with you need to work on becoming closer with them in real life. Unfortunately my dream sharing partner and I lost sync quite some time ago as he has become extremely busy with work but we hope to pick up where we left off pretty soon.
There is a whole dream sharing experiment going on in the research forum that everyone is free to join...so if you are interested I suggest going and signing up.

Sometimes we have to take what facts we know about the infrastructure of the mind and embrace the magic we create on an astral plane as something we may never fully understand.
When you consider defining and extrpolating on events that happen in an etheral world, you also have to consider the infrastructure's existense is based on a differnt set of laws and principles which in turn would naturally augment a logical surmise of the events being defined.
I have only experienced shared dreams with people that I have a very strong connection to. People whom I have spent lots of time around. It was nothing like two people in different places having the same dream.

I don't think that's true at all. As long as the two people are very close and in sync with one another you can find a way into their dream and they might never even know that you were there. At least that has been my experience.Quote:

I personally do not go for shared dreams. Psychic Un-conscious interaction on a "Fuzzy" level maybe. How come shared dreams often have individualistic 'Differences'. ie One character does something and the other has no recall of that happening. I believe it is subjective sharing on some Primative Psychic level.

i had a shared dream as a child that me and my brother still discuss (shared the dream with him) and i barely knew what it was ....... he had a reucuuring dream about a large spider (he's aracnifobic) and i had a dream that i helped him kill this spider and we woke up at the same time and KNEW that we shared it :roll: that was odd

Id love to share a dream, I actually suspected that my last dream to turn lucid was a shared dream because I knew I had not cunjured up my friend at all, she appeared and startled me and she was there as some sort of visitor, she claims to be able to share dreams, but on this occasion she doesnt remember it, so Im not so sure. My friend says she has shared dreams in the past though, once with her cousin and once with her boyfriend, both times my friend and them described the same or similar occurances in their dreams, the dream with the cousin was a conversation sat at a table on the moon, which they both remember, and the dream with her boyfriend was in a white room with an expanding ball which was going to squash him, and his girlfriend saved him by making the ball shrink and disappear, and then a table with a white flower appeared and the white flower faded to red after the ball had gone. She seems to be really selective when she comes to talking about her own dream experiences recently though.
i do not believe that you can have a shared dream. your dreams are a mixture of thoughts and memorys. i would believe it though, if someone met someone they didnt ALREADY know and then meet them in real life. that would be cool and creepy

I do not believe something of this order could or would happen unless you believed it could be.
And most things that we do not understand, we are afraid of. So I think it would be very cool. But not creepy. Just tapping into a whole realm that we could begin to explore.

Honestly, no I don't believe in shared dreaming. And if it does exist, I think it would be extremely rare, limited only to individuals with extraordinary telepathic/ESP abilities. These two "shared dreamers" would also have to be in REM sleep at the same time in order for it to work. I am not saying it cannot exist, I am simply saying I don't see any evidence for it's existence. So many studies have been done on dreams, by Celia Green, Stephen LaBerge, etc., and there is no study which confirms this supposed phenomenon. It's also a bit funny to me to see all these threads on DreamViews, with people claiming they have shared dreams. Or this individual above me (binny77) basically claiming he has it on a regular basis. Something like this would actually be easy to prove if it did exist, and it would be a potential candidate for a succesful victory at the James Randi Foundation (google "randi challenge" for more info). Here's the setup:
1.) Find two experienced shared dreamers (there are supposedly many here on DreamViews).
2.) Arrange a setting where they can't communicate with one another, and make sure they fall asleep approximately at the same time, in order to be in REM around the same time.
3.) Tell subject A, to give a certain password to subject B, once they are together lucid in the dream state.
End of story. If they are for real, they'll be able to give information to one another from the dream state. So what are the shared dreamers waiting for? James Randi will give them one million dollars if they can prove it.
I don't mean to sound arrogant, I actually believe in ESP and many other things which are "out there", so I am not a "skeptic" at all. The thing is, this shared dreaming thing annoys me very much, just because I see so many threads with people claiming they experienced it, and others claiming it's easy to experience it.
It makes me really angry. No offense intended.
I have telepathic abilities and is communing with someone far away, in waking life and dreams. Thanks for your insight though.
