The definition of Out of Body Experience is way more simple than people think it is.
An out-of-body experience (OBE or sometimes OOBE) is an experience that typically involves a sensation of floating outside one's body and, in some cases, perceiving one's physical body from a place outside one's body (autoscopy).
So it is merely an experience of feeling as though one is outside of one's own body. That's it! The different mystical/spiritual associations that people have attached to the term are incorrect and confusing. If you want to associate something paranormal to an OBE, then it would be classified as an astral projection.
Astral projection is a paranormal interpretation of out-of-body experiences that assumes the existence of one or more non-physical planes of existence and an associated body beyond the physical.
Therefore if you have a WILD where you float out of your body, then you had a WILD with an OBE. If you were in a transitional state, such as hypnagogia and suddenly found yourself or forced yourself out of your body, then I would call it a hypnagogic OBE, or a transitional state OBE. Some people have sleep paralysis induced OBEs. So trying to figure out if it was a WILD or an OBE is sort of pointless, because the two terms often overlap and can often be difficult to distinguish.
Since you put this in Beyond Dreaming, I'm going to assume that the correct question you want to be asking is...was this an OBE associated with WILD, or was it an astral projection?
