Thread: Communication with spirits through dreams?

This should probably be in Beyond Dreaming. IMO.

Anyhow, I personally do not believe in spirits or souls even existing. When you were younger, you probably heard mention of there being $10,000 in her will, but due to your young age, you didn't pay conscious attention. Either that or a really curious coincidence, but a coincidence nonetheless.

But I'm probably not the best person to ask. Just tossing in my two cents.

Oh okay, is there anyway to move this thread to that section? Or maybe it would be better to make a new one?

Anyways thank you for your opinion kookyinc, disagree about spirits existing but I appreciate a different point of view.

I hope my post doesn't add fuel to the fire of the whole wrong posting area.. But I wanted to talk about the super kick ass dream you had

I believe in spirits, ghosts, channeling and all of that stuff... Well the majority of it. I've had strange experiences too. I've had dreams where I talked to my grandparents after they passed away and several different variations of dreams that involved them shortly after they passed. Other than dreams, one real life story my mom told me that when I was born, and I just barely started to talk, she was carrying me through our hallway and I pointed to a picture of my great grandma and said "grandma" but I have never met her in my life because she died before I was born.

People in my life have told me that when what happened to you, happens it's a way of passed relatives to communicate with you. Science says that dreams are just thoughts of personal experiences. I think you might have something there though since you have never been told about your great grandma's will.

Regardless of anyone's oppinion, I think this is kick ass, I would ask a dream specialist.

Hey Vegas, you seem to have similar views to me. I believe in ghosts and spirits, the afterlife... I would agree that maybe your Grandma somehow communicated with you when you were little. I mean, who's to say it is impossible?

Yea, like I said, I would have brushed this dream off as nothing...but the exact amount each of her kids got? Weird. And I found out from my mother earlier today when I talked to her that the 10,000 was actually money that could have been used to put my Grandma in a better nursing home while she was alive. So my mother's take on it is that my Grandma was telling me she thought her kids should have used the money on her rather than saving it so it just got bumped into her will. Crazy!

Yeah that's a very cool experience We're you startled or kind of freaked out at all when you woke up and realized what you dreamt?

I was not freaked out, but I was def thinking damn that was an interesting one! So I wrote it down, I didn't feel a little weirded out until I found out about the money thing!

And other than that, I've always been interested in the human mind, dreams, and psychology.

This would be a great plot starter for a horror/suspense haunting movie lol sorry.
Could just be weird coincidence or maybe you did know somehow then forgot but that's probably not the case

@Vegas - I've always wanted to take a psychology class and learn something about that. Sadly I've never had the chance to even take an intro. course. hopefully someday though, I would love to learn about it.

@ooflen- haha, you're right it could be! The mission of the movie would be the main character trying to find the 10 grand, and fix the problem the ghost is trying to communicate! lol

@Philosopher- Honestly you confused me, do you not believe in the afterlife? If so then I guess this thread is pointless to you. I thought the topic was obvious, I had a dream, and it seemed it might have been my Grandma's spirit/ghost trying to relay a message. I would personally define a spirit as that person's soul after death. I do not think our brains are all we are made up of. I believe people have souls, and that is truly what makes them who they are. Therefore after you die you may not communicate the way a living person with a brain would, but you use alternate routes to go about doing so. Just my opinion.

Then the TV screen flickered and an old film reel played on the screen, it looked like my Grandma when she was in her 30s walking down a street somewhere. Then my Dad believed and my Mom rushed into the room and I told her what was going on. She did not believe either so I kept trying to ask questions to comunicat with my Grandma then the same thing happened again and images of her flickered on the screen, interuppting the program playing on the TV.


--So, normally I would just brush this off as nothing, just another odd dream. BUT, I told my mother about it when I met up with her for lunch today and she said it was weird. I asked why and she said well, your Grandma did not like that nursing home se was in, she hated it! I knew this and told her that I remembered that from when I was little. Then she proceeded to tell me that was not the weirdest part, she said that each of my Grandma's kids got exactly $10,000 from her will. This was something I never knew until today when she told me. So I thought that was pretty interesting.

Anyone know anymore on this subject?

Just for the record I want to say I absolutely think you were talking to your grandmother here. I like her use of the television to communicate. Most ghosts who communicate from the other side. IE, they have made a succesfull transition and are no longer in our dimension, project thier communication through a tunnel, the same tunnel that people report seeing in NDE's (near death experiences). Rather than traverse the tunnel and come back bodily, they project through it, and the use of the TV in my opinion is a perfect receiver for this kind of transmission.

Night - I had the chance at my last school back in vegas but I wanted to do other classes. I'm hoping that my new school here in texas will have a psych class.

I am a paranormal investigator in my spare time. Our group goes out and investigates suspected hauntings of businesses and residences. We use scientific equipment to conduct experiments to try and capture evidence of paranormal activity. We have seen and experienced some very interesting stuff so it is reasonable to say that the deceased could possibly communicate with us through dreams.

If not, you are not your soul, if it does, your soul is the product of a physical brain. That brain is functional to some degree. What does a non-existent brain produce?

This does bring up an offshoot idea: Can the life of a person be measured in terms of the time spent as a ratio between NOP and valid mental operations?

Why are you attacking this kid for simply asking for affirmation about a dream? And further, why are you talking circles around the topic? The topic,,, and I'm sure you read it when you came in here, was stated simply enogh, and yet , you want to attack the kid for what? His Syntax. I think bottom line you are just threatened about the topic, period, and you want to lash out, or attack anyone who states something that contradicts your beliefs. So what do you want? Do you want everybody in the world to be a carbon copy of your self? To only believe what you believe? You know, just because your quotting Kant, or Nietsche or Milton, doesn't make you any different than a Christan or a Muslim or a Hare krishna right now.
