As odd as it is, I've come to the conclusion that having a nightmare is my preferred method of inducing a lucid dream via WILDing.

Let me explain, you see, nightmares have never really been a bother for me. I'd have them occasionally, but ever since maybe ~2 years ago I have been waking myself from sleep as soon as I would get the feeling of terror that accompanies seeing a horror of sorts. For months now I have also been practicing achieving lucidity using WILD techniques, but to limited avail seeing as I could never induce sleep paralysis.

Thus I put two and two together and, as of waking from a nightmare, am able to have a moment of complete consciousness. This allows me to choose whether to try again for sleep paralysis or choose another dreamscape (as exemplified by an interesting case the other night in which I was able to leave a dream, imagine a few changes along with the environment I remembered, and re-enter the dream) among other things. It is a very useful case for me to have a nightmare.

However, I rarely go through a nightmare as of recently and wish to purposefully induce them. So far I have tried a timed alarm that plays loud noises from Amnesia: The Dark Decent that was scheduled to my REM cycle (I have a good understanding of it). Is there any strong method of inducing nightmares?

TL;dr: How do I induce nightmares?
