Yes! I did it! sort of

Last night I woke up at 5:00 and had one hour left until my alarm clock for school went off. I went back to sleep and the next thing I remember I was on the back steps outside my house looking down at my old Beagle named "Daisy". Suddenly I realized, "Hey, she died a few years ago, this must be a dream!". :D:banana::D

What an incredible feeling! Wow it is like I was inside my own mind. It ended very quickly, despite my efforts to stay calm and stabalize it. But my old dog Daisy looked absolutley real, just as I remember her with large tumors on her stomach right before she died.

As soon as I realized I was dreaming I tried to spin to strengthen the environment, but I never really saw anything other than Daisy and it faded away. Is that typical for a first LD?

I think I tried to dream spin too fast, perhaps I should have just started running!

Awesome matrix lucid dreaming is a great feeling. The moment when you realize anything is possible is an amazing experience. I have had 6 or so lucid in my life and I can't wait for more. This is the longest I have ever stuck with lucid dreaming and hopefuly I'll never quit.

The only thing that frustrates me about lucid dreaming I'd that I can't WILD. Atleast no yet, Im going to try a FILD varriant this afternoon maybe it will work.

That first major lucid is always the greatest! I still remember mine. Congrats man! :)

Yes it is quite common for the first [few] lucid[s] to fade quite quickly because you are not used the feeling of being in a dream and the excitement wakes you up. After a couple LD's you will become more accustomed to the feeling of dreams and you will not wake up immediately.

Congradulations! I had my first LD a few months ago, and I too woke up right away(5 seconds after becoming lucid) from excitement. Same with my next few. After having 5-6, I don't wake up anymore. I had a very stable one last week, actually a WILD...or DEILD actually. I wake up 4-6 times a night, every 1 and a half hours to be exact. I can easily WILD/DEILD within a minute, so I have gotten some WILDs that way! Well once I hit SP, i was expecting to have a false awakening or a lucid. I have had about 5 lucids from false awakening, I always catch them. Well after I WILDed, I was in the exect same position in bed as when I wilded, and my room looked the exact same. I did an RC and it worked! I was super excited, but my dream stayed stable. My vision was better than in real life.

Yes, I know how exciting it is. Having had about 18, I still get excited when I realize I am dreaming!

Congrats.. I remember after having my first experience how the doubt of the reality of the whole thing faded away... its so easy to wander if any of this is even real until you have your own first experience.. then the more you realize that the initial part is real, then you wonder about how much more is a possibility from here.. as a new LD'er here as well, Im here to tell you that I found an entire world of possibility. Keep practicing and working at it and you will go far... Dont worry about the short LD though, my first only lasted seconds. This is very very common.

Having not had a lucid dream yet, I believe there is a hump or something. Once I have my first I feel that I will be a lot easier to become lucid because I know it can happen. Does that sound right to people? Imagine that once you do something, it only becomes easier with time...

Yes it does become easier but the gap between lucids for people if different. You have have a luced, then one 30 days later then 28,25,20 days later in a progression like that. But it won't be linear and should be quicker then that. If you WILD it will be a lot quicker. Good luck getting your first lucid.

I think I may have had my first LD. I did some autosuggestion during the day. I also stopped doing constant reality checks, took a b-6 tablet and went to bed listening to an audio tape. I got very close to being lucid and then I woke up several hours later and tried my first WILD and I think I succeeded though I'm not sure. There was a definite feeling of my body getting numb and more asleep and my mind was focused on flashes of HI. My breathing slowed down and then I felt like I climbed out of my body sort of. I remember thinking to myself; this is a dream and seeing my hands look very weird. I went to my door and tried to summon someone on the other side of the door, but it didn't work so I went to find them. My vision was blurry at first so I said "Clarity Now!" and it cleared up. I remember seeing a cat and being sort of afraid of it and then I realized that expectation creates things and the cat got vicious and then I woke up. I kind of felt like my mind was on auto-pilot. Was this a lucid dream or merely a dream about lucid dreaming? I'm personally think it was a lucid dream, but not a very advanced one (being my first and all), though I'm not sure because my mind felt numb. Also, there was a very clear sense of stepping out of my head (weird, but thats the best way I can phrase it). This whole episode lasted about 20 real minutes I think.

What do you guys think?

PS. I also remember about 5 dreams from that night, though I didn't write em all down (I forgot, lol) more than any other.

Really? Nice! It was my first legit attempt at a WILD and it seemed to work. I've had no luck with DILDs or MILDs yet. Is the fogginess natural the first time?

Well I have only had a very short DILD so far so I don't know.

I woke up after a dream and wrote it down. I was going to try a FILD but wasn't tired enough so I tossed and turned for about an hour as I was trying to figure out what to do. I remember visualizing things in my mind and not thinking about my physical body, and turning over once or twice. Then I entered semi SP. My limbs were numb, but i was still thinking and that was the problem. As soon as I started watching the HI and visualizing a scene (for me it was the chapel at my school) i think i got closer and closer. Eventually I felt this weird sense of separation, as if I had stepped out of my body I was in my room and the experience made me feel like something was weird. So i looked at my hands (and i had seven fingers on one hand) I remember thinking "I'm dreaming) and then going about my dream, brief as it was. It was a weird experience, it almost felt like and OBE.
