      Anyone notice this?

well i guess ive noticed it but i just wanted to see if other people had the same thing going on

whenever something kinda scary and adrenaline pumping happens i get like 5x more aware

its a wierd awareness that comes and goes i just had a good example in a dream less than an hour ago

i was being chased inside a building and cops were trying to block me in to keep me in the door

as soon as i got outside i kinda knew i could fly but had a hard time i was kindof thinking that i could do whatever i wanted even so the dream was still in the context I could change things as if it were a big game and everyone had to follow along i said stuff like " No chasing me" "No hurting me" then when it felt like a real lucid dream when they start to fade and you wake up i was put back into the building and started trying to escape almost the same thing happened but i dont think i got as far as the first time but i still remember getting more and more lucid but not lucid enough to the normal point

as a child when i would dream and be in nightmares or tense dreams that i didnt like i would be able to shake around my dream body and this would cause me to wake up

well i think lucid dreaming is helping me progress because i notice i get more aware when im in bad situations hopefully after a while i can get so that negative feelings are a kind of dream signal and will wake me up

That brings up an interesting point.
While in a dream, your mind truely thinks the events taking place are actually happening in real life.
So as far as adrenaline, I wonder if the "Fight or flight instinct ", is involved in anyway in heightening your awareness creating more vivid lucidity?

That adrenaline rush will make me become lucid almost every time.
I will be dreaming about driving off a cliff or something and the jolt brings on lucidity.

thats wierd because i have had alot of adrenaline in some of my dreams and it never made me lucid. I guess it only works for some people.

That adrenaline rush always awaking me when my reality checks work (rarely...), it's too strong and I can't stay in my dream, I have only had one lucid dream since 2 years .

When you're dreaming or are going through the stages of sleep there is a chemical shift in youre brain. This chemical shift is what determines whether you are concious or unconcious. When you become lucid you begin to tip this balance more toward the concious side, but not enough to wake you up usually. The more you lucid dream, the farther you can tip this balance while you sleep. When you experience extreme fear, adrenaline, or any emotion such as those, they also help tip the balance either waking you up or making your dream more vivid

what i would hate was when i was being chased and it felt like i was trying to run through water. So what i did in my dream (when there was someone trying to run away from someone with me) i said "move your arms like this" and i would move my arms like i was trying to swim through water and it made me think i could run faster. hehe

Fart! When my adrenaline rushes it wakes me up usually.

Except if the rush is from anger. If I get really mad or frustrated in an LD, I attain more control. It's like brut force or something.

Yeah, I've had two Lucid Dreams so far... Well not really dreams but 'moments' and both times have been when adrenalin starts pumping. First time it was when I was about to be arrested by a cop (damn cops) and I was like suddenly "this is a dream" and the second time was when some huge drunk guy beat my door down. Both times I realised I was dreaming, but the adrenalin and shock woke me up, and I could feel the dream fading, no matter how hard I tried to spin.

I'm getting the hang of it though and I think that maybe next time I can stop it from fading

have you ever been really scared in a dream? that's weird! i remember in my dream i woke up and i went to teh bathrom, and i looked at myself in the mirror and my face looked like Linda blair's in the movie Exorcist and i startedgetting really scared, and i started yelling for my mom, but my voice was really low, (like a mans! ) and i was saying to myself "i'm dreaming, i'm dreaming" and i couldn't wake up, then i got so scared that i forced myself to wake up.

      lol, I know!

It's like your mind shoves you through a door and yells, "Here you are, you've got 10 seconds left to live, and what're you gunna do about it!"

Or maybe something like the mother bird pushing the baby bird off the nest so it has to fly or die.

Well my last LD happened when my dad almost drove us into a huge crack in the street, and i just KNEW i was dreaming. And many of my ND's that I remember have me doing something that pumps up my adrenaline.

it wasn't a lucid but last night i was ranting at george bush, and it lasted quite a while, and i was really angry. maybe the anger had something to do with the fact that my dream was far less random than usual.
