So if I wake up AFTER my REM, could I still WILD?

I keep reading how to wake up after, but aren't you supposed to wake up DURING REM? Do I do this by staying up for an hour (WBTB) cause it all seems very confusing.

Typically you want to wake up before or during your final REM period of that sleep session, correct.

This causes REM rebound, a much longer, more vivid and immediate REM period as soon as you fall back asleep. It also makes it easier to WILD, and easier to fall asleep as REM sleep is what causes the 'refreshed' feeling upon awakening. If you're body skips an expected REM period or has it interrupted, your body will still feel tired and wish to return to sleep making the WILD much easier.

      Talking

So, would I use the WBTB method to 'reset' the REM?
Edit: Thanks for actually replying after like 10 minutes I asked this. Because I've waking up in the middle of the night lately. Yay no alarm (just knowing there's an alarm wakes me up after REM, sweet. )

REM periods occur roughly every 90 minutes. You want to aim for your 4th REM period, so about 6 hours into sleep. After you wake up, do something for about 15 minutes to an hour, preferably involving motor function. Walk, Read, Write. Try not to watch TV or use the computer. After that, go back to bed and attempt to WILD. As you go back to sleep, the REM will kick in immediately. This is what allows the WILD to be much more successful after a WBTB.

Thanks so much. I'll set my alarm really high tonight and put it under my pillow.
