The majority of my WILDs are naps. I like to nap 1-5 hours after waking in the morning. It is possible to have a WILD later than that, but the longer you wait, the harder it will be to enter directly into REM. If you are talking about DILD/MILD, remember, if you can dream you can DILD/MILD. I have had plenty of LDs during naps, and it is my favorite time to practice LDing (especially WILDing).
