      Scary SP experience

Ok it's not uncommon for me first of all to get Sleep Paralysis. I get it atleast once a month and it's pretty exhillerating.

The last time I had it, however, I was taking a nap (which is usually when I get it) and I woke up, flipped over, and attempted a WILD. I felt the SP kick in. I tried moving out of my bed (into a dream) which worked briefly for I stretched out of my body, but like a rubber band, I was sucked back in.

This was the scary part. My breathing slowed down and my excitement had me trying to gasp for a bigger breath. The experience was like holding my breath underwater than only getting a small breath of air after getting my head out of the water.

Trapped in my own body, I tried moving which worked a little (also indicater of a dream) and it made it like twice as bad. My heart was pounding, I couldn't manage my breathing, my head was aching, I was desperate to wake up.

So I closed my eyes and fell asleep but woke back up again in the same state. Closed my eyes again and woke up later, relieved.

I have not given up practicing WILD/SP but I had considered it afterwards. I attempted it again yesterday but no results. I just had to remind myself that it was only 1 bad experience out of like 10 or something like that.

Anyone else have anything like this?

I've never had any scary hallucinations before, but the best thing to do is to not freak out, as that can make them worse.

Well, I too have breathing troubles when I'm going through some sleep paraylsis experiences, but I was told they were just hallucinations and shouldn't worry about them.

So the breathing thing is just a hallucination? Sounds confusing and also weird. I thought certain dreams actually effected breathing like holding your breath under water. I would think the same thing would happen during this experience.

I know, it's really weird how it all works.

But breathing in a dream shouldn't effect your real life breathing...I would hope...

100% Hallucination, unless you were getting suffocated by pillow or someone
was suffocating you it is impossible that you were suffocating.

      Just another common SP experience.

It's tough to bring someone back that never really lived.

Yeah, it's just part of the hallucinations you get in SP. One time I was in SP, my breathing began to get very short and it was hard to take a breath. Then I remembered hearing that only your diaphragm and your eye lids aren't paraylized, so it made me think "what if my diaphragm is paraylized and I really can't breath??!" Ofcourse this made things worse, I calmed down, told myself "it's ok, you can breath" and soon I entered a dream.

SP is BIZARRE, many strange things happen...there should be a big banner on top of the forum that says
