      How I induce SP

This is how I use to fall into Sleep Paralysis. I figured I share this with you just in case your struggling with other methods. I guess this is my own variation on the WILD method.

I know some of the tutorials tell you to stay completely still, but this is sometimes not the case. Before I found this website I use to induce SP in a entirely different way and it still worked.
My technique requires you to have a good imagination and be able to play out story's in your mind.

When I wanted to enter SP, all I would do is lay in a comfortable position on my bed, close my eyes and play out a story in my mind. This keeps my mind awake because I am concentrating on the story and eventually my body will fall asleep.
I know it sounds silly but I would lay there and imagine myself fighting a horde of zombies or something. I would play it in my mind as if it was a movie.

After a while you would get so in depth with the story that you forget about your body. Your body just assumes your mind is asleep.
Sometimes the topic of the story would shift as your mind starts to wonder. This is normal.
I am sort of person who likes to think a lot, and before I go asleep I would always fall into to deep thought. Every time I did this I would have SP.
As long as I didn't fall asleep, this would always work. Sometimes just the anticipation of seeing the end of the story would keep me awake.

I am not saying this will work with everyone, maybe its only specific to me. But I hope it will help somebody out there.

whoopie. this is exactly what im trying to do.

though very often as i get very near sleep, my ability to concentrate depletes to a point where i forget that my goal is to lucid dream.

how do you 'anchor' the story/daydream so as to stay focused on your goal of LDing?

would you mind giving an example of your induction stories.

      thanks

I usually don't have any issues with this, because as soon as SP hits the story ends and I get into action.
I guess the SP is reminder of what my goal is.

I usually think about whatever subject I am interested in at the time. Once after watching a episode of 'Doctor Who', I told myself a story about me being the Doctor and being able to travel through time.
Another good example to to think about how you want your future to work out. Once I had a speech in college to do, I was deadly nervous about this so I acted the speech in my mind.

If the SP itself doesn't serve as a reminder, i think the best bet is to think about what you would do while in a LD.

I am glad someone else does this too

      ah i see

so am i right in saying that this technique of yours, is a fake/pretend dream, to trick your body into thinking you are already asleep, thus induce SP a lot quicker?

also, how do you use the 5 senses with your 'story', do you just use image and sound. do you use taste, smell, touch at all, if so how?

thank you very much mrdeano, i would like to hear on any more progress you make

Yes, that's a really good way of putting it. It also allows you to forget about your body and its needs.

My story's are as if it was actually happening, so I guess I use all five senses. I have a habit of going back and fourth with my story.
A few times I would add an element into the story which I haven't explained to myself yet, so I would go back and edit some of the story to make the element relevant (if that makes sense).

Oh and by the way, sometimes your mind will wander onto other things completely. You need to keep the story going in your head.

Thanks =] I would love to hear your results.

      hiya

iv been having a bit of trouble getting the story/imagination going. it sounds wierd, but when attempting a WILD, i find it very hard to visualise.
its like writters block. but i know that once i get into it, with an exciting story it will be easy to maintain.

      i tried this:

go through the alphabet, stop at a random letter, see what word evolves from that letter.
i got 'L' ....................lawn mower, BOOOOORING.

i tried using all my senses, but after touching the grass, i got bored.

how do you come up with exciting/fresh adventures?

thanks for the help mrdeano, you are a star
