      Using my dreamsign

it's interesting how some people spontaneously have a LD long before becoming aware of websites, induction techniques etc.

lucid dreaming for me has somehow had a connection to the ocean and water in general. i grew up very close to the pacific ocean and spent a lot of time in it from a young age. i was around 7 when i had my first LD and it came about because i was dreaming that i was trapped under water - but i was comfortable with waves and the feeling of having trouble getting to the surface. i became so aware of holding my breath that i could sense my physical body and that i could breathe while still in this dream. then i swam off, breathing underwater and aware that i was dreaming.

i had my most vivid LD maybe a year ago - i found myself floating with ocean swells and i recognized the beach. i felt like i was back home it was so real.

water is one of my dreamsigns, but i feel like there's a way to make this connection a bigger part of my dreaming practice...(advice is welcome)

Far as I know, if water is your dreamsign, everytime you see and use water, do an RC Finding a dreamsign usually means that DILDs are a breeze to perform

yeah, when i said water is one of my dreamsigns i meant that i do a reality check when i come across it - like if i take a shower, drink a glass of water, or see a body of water or a picture of it.

i'm thinking more along the lines of using some generalized connection you have to the dreaming world to not only do a reality check but strengthen your ability to be lucid in another way. kind of like a bridge to that world. i'm just curious to see if anyone has a more contructive approach to using a dream sign or something otherwise related to their dreams.

i think my dream sign is the sun, or really bright lights reminiscent of the sun. Every time i look at the sun i gain a widened sense of consciousness (for some odd reason). I think i've had a couple LDs due to this odd Dream-sign

I've also had tried to make smoking pot my dream sign. i have stayed sober for a full year comin this 4/20, and i have had lots of dreams the the meantime blazing, i wasn't goin to smoke until a year later in RL (real life), so the only time i would was in my dreams. so i tried to make it into a dream-sign: every time i blaze i would do a RC (Reality Check).

Alas, never happened, i always end up regretful that i broke my 1 year sobriety (not knowing that it was all a dream).
100+ Nights of LDs in my high school days.
Starting again after almost 10 years.
