      Unhappy Need help with VILD

      hello all

i have looked at some of the tutorials on VILD and it just seems perfect for me.
i do a lot of cross country running, and to keep focus away from muscle pain, i go into a semi trance where i imagine myself in a scenario using all 5 senses. it works very well, as it keeps my attention away from my body.

so i was trying it with a WILD but i was having difficulty imagining a stable scenario.
i am very sensitive to any feelings / hypnotic stuff, that comes. and i cant simply let it take me into a dream, like so many describe, i get all the heavyness, tingly waves etc, then nothing.
so i think this will be good, if i can get a good scenario.

my lucid dream goal is to create a ww2 battle scenario ie band of brothers, so i tried imagining myself in such a scenario as i was doing WBTB, but it is to difficult, i have never experienced anything like it.

what are some of the scenario's you visualise when trying VILD'ing.

      thanks for any input chaps

Well, I only tried VILD once. I went into SP as I was WILDing or maybe I just waited for SP to come, anyways, when I got into SP and I started to hear beeping noises, I tried to come up with a scenario which has all five senses. I basically saw an apple tree on top of a hill with a waterfall in the background. I concentrated more on the tree and tried to make the scene as good as possible(see). I took and felt an apple(touch), smell it(smell), bit into it(taste) and tried to listen to the waterfall, wind(hear). I was able to do only the see, touch and possibly bite. I could feel myself getting closer but I was pretty tired and my mind kept on jumping around in the image. I mean while I can create a stunning scene, I have a habit of speeding through everything instead of taking the time, add that with tiredness and I wasn't able to get an LD. Maybe I'll try VILD again sometime, I'll definitely make sure to put more effort next time.
For your WW2 scenario, imagine the following: As I write this, I can see planes overheard as they drop the bombs onto a city(whatever its called), machines guns going off, soldiers screaming and running for cover. Right there, you got see, hear and smell(burned smell or even the trenches(mud filled, corpses), etc....). For taste and feel, you could imagine yourself in first person mode as holding a gun(feel) and maybe drinking from a cantine filled with water(taste).
My advice is before imagining this, make sure to get yourself accustomed with the scenario. So, if you want the first one, in RL, grab an apple, feel it, taste it and remember its taste, etc.... Likewise, maybe smell how burnt paper is like or play some WW2 game for the sounds and visual, etc..... If you can get accustomed with the senses for the scenario and can bring them up when you VILD, I'm pretty sure you'll succeed easily. Make sure to create the scenario beforehand, so, that when you try to VILD, you already know what you want, instead of think it on the spot.
I should definitely follow my own advice, lol Hope this helps

i never thought about that for preperation. ill definatly try that.
i know exactly what you mean when when you start jumping about the place and find it hard to stay focused.
from what iv tried this happens a lot more when im in a scenario and i know the ending.

eg, beforhand i plan the scenario. start in the kitchen, eat/small an apple, throw it against the wall, hear it smash, jump really high smash through the roof of the house, fly feel the cold wind on my face. and finish with a nice relaxing rest in the clouds.

i tried that, but because i knew where i was going to end up, i kept skipping to the end, as if 'whats the point'.
so maybe if i was to start in the kitchen, and be SPONTANIOUS.
for me, (and probably most of you out there) one of the biggest attractions of lucid dreaming is complete freedom, to be spontanious.

so maybe for the VILD, one needs to have a rough idea of the scenario beforhand, warzone, the future, a garden etc. so with this in mind one can watch a film, 'taste an apple' to prepare. so when to go for the VILD, all you have is a starting location, and thats it.

      thanks a lot BIG fan

No problem, anytime. I think I'm similar in that aspect. Since I know the ending or it feels somewhat boring to be in the scenario eating an apple, the mind begins wandering back and forth pretty fast which kinda breaks you out of it. I'll give VILD a try possibly tonight and see what happens
