You could be doing everything right, but your timing is wrong. If that is the case, you will just have no REM dreams to enter. Instead of entering a lucid dream, you will sort of just hang in thoughtless NREM sleep, like a deep trance. This is a cool place to be, as you have described, but not real useful for standard lucid goals.

You should definitely find the time to try the same thing you are doing after a few hours of sleep and a WBTB. After you get it to work the predictable way (after a WBTB), you can try it during naps

Another thing you can do is deprive yourself of a little sleep the night before, so you know you will have REM rebound during your afternoon nap. That might help if you just absolutely refuse to WBTB. If you're worried about being too tired during the day, you could bomb some nyquil or Melatonin the night before, so you lose some REM sleep, but no deep sleep.

thnx it makes sense. soe you're saying that dreaming without REM is extremely hard. got it

oh and yea i only get 6 hours of sleep on weekdays, causing me to be really tired during afternoon times so thats why im expecting it to work.

I've been trying to have WILD's and I experience SP and HH, but haven't had luck with getting a dream. Try my method: just keep trying. You'll get it. And congrats on your second lucid dream. I'm trying to achieve mine too. ^.^

Congratulations on your second lucid. So, maybe it was the timing. Keep a record of these things, so you can pin down what works and when.

DAMN! You got it RIGHT on the money!!! No wonder i didn't enter a dream. I had tried to WILD before a REM phase. OMG, thats exactly how it was. I was just laying there, breathing, no thoughts. Its like i was sleep, but i still was aware of my breathing just laying there. Like a deep trance.

I bet any amount of money if i had did a WBTB it would have worked! If you have shitty recall, can you still do a WILD? You don't need to remember anything since your being conscious the whole time right?

yes you can always WILD, but you wont remember your dream. It will just be like you tried to WILD and then fell asleep even though you had amazing adventures in your dream so its really important to work on your recall. You are conscious a bit but when you're in you dream, its you unconsciousness taking over and you conscious only plays a very small role in it.

and yea try it during REM periods. Trust me that makes it sooooo much easier, but its hard to keep yourself awake during those times. So its either WILD or fall asleep.

As long as you wake yourself up right at the end of the dream, you should be alright. I've lost some WILDs because I didn't wake up and write them down right away. Don't get greedy and try to DEILD too many times.
