Reoccurring dream, always turns to nightmare

I'm not really sure if this is the place to be asking, but I'm hoping someone here can help. I have never really remembered dreams much before, maybe once every couple of years.

So this is a little new, and a little odd to me, but here it goes.

A few nights ago, I had a dream, where I could not tell if I where dreaming or not. Sounds like a lucid dream, except I had no control over what happened.

Started out as an awsome dream, but near the end turned into what I would have to call a dramatic nightmare. Right before I wake up I am seconds from being killed.....and then I wake up not knowing what it was that was trying to kill me.

Every night since then I've had a different dream.....but it all ends turning into a nightmare, with me waking up seconds before I would have been killed. All different dreams....but all having the same aspects where I do not think I am dreaming, and have no control over even myself.

I'm curious why I am having these out of nowhere, after a lifetime of not dreaming whatsoever.

But I'm also curious how to make them stop....I am at the point where I am somewhat afraid to sleep, and I dont want that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible....hopefully before I go to sleep tonight.

      thank you in advance.

Well, its been so long since i've had nightmares and i've had alot happen to myself latley where i SHOULD be having nightmares, yet I am not.

Anyways, to help you. You've just gotta work it through, go to sleep thinking, "I am all-powerful". If you think this, you may be able to take control of the dream, if you do not, yet you manage to put up a struggle, then say to yourself next time you sleep, "I'm gonna fly, or i'm gonna whip out a sword"

It sounds weird, but I actually used to do it when I was little, my first resolution would be to stand up and laugh at the thing that haunted me and it worked, every monster I just laughed my ass off at or kicked their ass. Then I even took it a step further and found my full abilities in the dreams, I could change scenery just by blinking.

What I am trying to say, is you must make a resolve to do something before you sleep, believe it, want it, and it will happen. Just by me typing this and you reading it, you may think of a resolution to your problem.

As for why it is happening.. the best ways to find out, are take a good look at your life, or you might even be able to try talking to people in your dreams (if you have them). Dreams are a finicky thing, you can't force them, yet you can learn them and change them, you may have this dream for awile, but you must learn to not fear it, and fight.

well how are you almost being killed in these dreams? lets say you are drowning in all of these dreams. then though out the day think to yourself if im drowning its a dream or something like that. if there is no pattern i don't think i can help

it is my personal belief that you always wake up after dieng in a dream, false or real. This would mean that unless u were woken some other way the last part of everydream if you can remember it would be you dieing. This also is one of my theorys of what might happen when we die.
how do you know if you aren't in a 'dream' right now?

      hmm

thanks for your suggestions, im hoping i will have some sort of control tonight, or not have it at all.

I dont know what is about to kill me, i can never see, i can never tell. I always wake up moments before i would know.

thats why the suggestions might not help me....how do i know what to use against it if i dont know what IT is.

but i will try my best to make it actually lucid....but i never have been ablet o before.

hehehe, for most people this is true. Myself, that has never happened, if I die in a dream, I either go to another place, walk the dreamscape as a dead soul, or go to almost a waiting area and a few times i've even woken up into the next dream as a different person.

I don't know what to belive on reincarnation, but my dreams and memories suggest it, not all, but most. So I suppose I could throw that in as a theory on my history..

What happens after you die is purely up to your subconscious. If you have no beliefs or suspicions of what will happen after you die, it's probably random. Most likely you'll wake up, though. If you strongly believe or suspect that you will be reincarnated or that you'll go to an afterlife, then your subconscious will carry that through into your dreams. And if you believe any of the junk about 'If you don't wake up when you die in a dream, you'll die in real life' junk, then just look at me. I've died in dreams at least 7 times that I didn't wake up. And that's just the ones that I remember.
