SP can be very scary. I dealt with it for a long time before learning to 'let go' 'take control' whatever. I imagine your first few SP's will be at least a little scary no matter what. The most important thing, and I know it's cliche around here, is to believe its not real. As your starting out you should be prepared for auditory hallucinations and strange clouds/forms (sometimes looking like an 'Old Hag'). I no longer experience any of these, and I miss the auditory stuff! For me it goes like this. I open my eyes and basically see the room. Of course it's not really the room just my projection of it. Notice the subtle differences! For me it's usually blurry edges and such. This is when I become lucid. Now I have to move. Sometimes it's easy and sometimes it's not. If it is hard try not to be afraid as this will effect the nature of your dream world. I have found that rocking up, like an old man getting out of a comfy couch, helps me. Once up I can manipulate my environment, float (usually across water) and walk through doors and walls...etc. GOOD LUCK
