Having trouble once I have become lucid....

Ok so here is my problem. I have become lucid in a dream 4 times since learning about lucid dreaming about 3 weeks ago.

So whats the problem? you may ask.. Well its that those 4 times I became lucid have only lasted about 10 seconds total. Every time I realise I'm dreaming something very strange happens and I wake up after only seconds.

My 4 lucid experiences:

The 1st time I realised I was dreaming is when I was falling. I yelled STOP! My body jolted hard 3 times then I woke up, it kinda felt like my waking body had jolted to.

The 2nd time I realised I was dreaming I was in a car and I couldt read the manual. As soon as I said to myself I am dreaming, this very strange song started that went.. I am dreaming...... dreaming, dreaming, dreaming and all these weird symbols came up in my vision and then I woke up.

The 3rd time I bacome lucid I was playing basketball. As soon as I told myself I am dreaming This giant face filled my vision and was moving towards me like it was going to kiss me. Just before it got to me I woke up.

The 4th time I bacome lucid I was in my room lying on my bed watching a rowing machine row by itself. When I realised I was dreaming I decided to do a reality check. As I reached up to pinch my nose to see if I could still exhale my bed tilted forward and my head got very heavy and I lost my balance then I woke up.

Is there anything I can do to stop this from happaning? I dont feel like I get to excited when i realise I am dreaming but I do have a kind of rushed feeling when I become lucid. I dont know why these strange things happen when I become lucid but I feel like I have no control over it.

Any tips or comments will be appriciated.

This is a common problem almost everyone experiences when he/she starts having their first lucid dreams. Basically you have to stabalize the dream because if it's unstable it will tend to fade away very fast. Resolve that next time you're in a dream you will take the time to observe something, the texture, the color, the shape - this will improve the quality of your dream significantly. Another way is to spin around, fysical movement seems to keep you from waking up. If you have any more questions feel free to add me on MSN :).

Other things that help me are touching any objects near by, like the floor, a wall, or even myself. Also, make sure to observe how these things feel, focus on them.

Comes down to the same thing I said. Observing something a bit more in depth makes the dream more stable.

Used to happed to me all the time. Here's my procedure:

1. Calm yourself.
2. Look at your hands.
3. Rub your hands together and think about how they feel.
4. Touch other objects or focus on one object very hard.

that sounded pretty creepy with a face coming against you O.o

With the dreams you have, it's a shame you can't stabilize them yet. What helps for me is to take everything slowly, and do reality checks every 2 minutes ( or the best estimation, time is weird in dreams ). When I say take tings slowly, I mean don't rush through and immediately do what you want to do. You kind of have to take what the dream gives you and manipulate it a little bit. A great piece of advice I have found is to explore the dream that you have been given, and almost try to fool the dream into thinking you don't know you're dreaming ( if that makes sense ). I would suggest looking up youtube and looking up advanced lucid dreaming. The user should be lucidpedia. After following his advice, all of my lucids ( with the exception of one ) have lasted longer with almost no stabilization.

Hey thanks everyone for the advice:D. I will try these things next time I become lucid...Stay calm, dont rush it and stabilize the dream...sounds good. I will let you know if it works next time Im lucid.

like everyone else said its best to stop, calm down, and ground yourself in the dream. make sure you take your time on this, last 2 lucids i went straight to flying and soon drifted back into the dream and lost the lucid. walk around! by walking for just a full minute i had one of the longest LD ive ever had (15 min)

Wow, my first three lucid's were nothing like these. Mine are surprisingly very long. About 4-10 minutes. I usually roam around and explore. But half the time I like to fly. And do my Lucid Dream Goals. I never try something too major. Like having sex, concentrating too hard on some kind of super power or something like that. I've never really had a problem with lucid dreaming. As for your problem, I got nothing.
