Talking to DC's? What is a DC?

I read a term that someone used in a post -They mentioned "asking a DC something" I am a lucid dreamer, every night- I am in complete control of my environment yet I don't seem to have any deep interaction with other beings in my dreams- is this possible? Or is it like trying to read the cereal box and when you focus in on the letters it is all nonsense? I am very interested please respond.

A DC is a Dream Character. I rarely have any interactions with DCs when I'm lucid as well (beyond the occasional physical interaction). When I have talked to DCs in my lucids, it has always been nonsense or I just don't remember it later. I think it's possible to have meaningful conversations with a DC though. It's probably just difficult.

DC stands for dream character, which is basically any person in your dream other than yourself. I suspect that the term dream character was chosen to reflect the fact that the only "real" person in your dreams is yourself, and the other people can be likened to characters in a play or movie.

Here is a really interesting (and long) thread on people's different experiences communicating with DCs:
      Communicating With Dream Characters
People have reported all kinds of interactions with DCs while lucid, but there does seem to be a general trend for DCs to be either impassive and/or semi-coherent (at best). Check the thread out, I think you'll like it.

In my lucids there's usually two kinds of DC's. There are the random ones that you can manipulate and have no mind of their own. Then there is one that I guess would be my dream guide. They're always there if I'm lost or if I need something done and I can have conversations with them. It's like I'm talking to my own subconscious, pretty cool.
