      Falling Asleep

I've tried a couple of things like WBTB and WILD, but it seems that once i wake up, it's very difficult for me to fall asleep again. Like my mind concentrates too much on LDing that i can't seem to fall asleep. Is there anything that could help me not concentrate so much or something that i should think/have a certain mindset about? All help would be appreciated.

Yeah I know what you mean. You are keeping your mind concious unintentionally by thinking like as though you were in waking time instead of sleeping. Of course while you do WBTB you do all your techs or dream sequence and what not but when you are done...ready to fall back to sleep...clear your mind. Just pretend that you never knew of LDing and just blank out any excitement or prospect. It works for me. If that also dosen't help it may be due to brain chemistry then you'd have to try taking vit B complex pills during the day as prescribed on the bottle..not overdose. When I take them I can sleep back easier, sleep longer and wake up less during the night...

I used to have the same problem. One thing that I've found to be helpful is mild sleep deprivation, so on the night before the WBTB I get a few hours less sleep than usual. This not only helps me to fall asleep when doing the WBTB but also to stay in the dream once I get lucid. If you try this you probably need to experiment a bit to find your optimal sleep deprivation.

I think it also helps to take L-theanine when you go back to sleep.

Hi, im new here but i found this thread and gave it a go last night.

I dont have to much trouble going to sleep but i found that it was actually hard to keep the mind awake, and once my body had shut down it was very easy for my mind to fall asleep.

      Worth a try

I generally have problems falling asleep; you may want to experiment different times when doing WBTB/WILD until you find the good one for you.
I found that it was easier for me if doing it at the very end of the night (early morning, really) and not staying out of bed the 30 minutes that the WBTB tutorial recommends (30 seconds is enough for me, after that I can't sleep).
      Dec. 2006 - July 2007:
      92 DILDs + 30 WILDs ; 75% too short, 24% decent, ~3 of 2 to 5 minutes
      (I stopped counting after that)
