Why are my LDs so unstable?

My power levels are below 9000.

Today I managed to get two lucid dreams, but they were really short. In the first one I was in my room, but it was pitch black so I couldn't do anything. For some reason I yelled "Light please!" but I guess the God of light didn't feel like responding because nothing happened. Then I tried to escape from my room by flying through the roof. Didn't work either. I jumped up, but for some reason gravity was incredibly strong so I couldn't fly. I tried like 10 times, and really believed that I could, but it didn't work anyway.
Then I woke up, happy that I achieved lucidity, but of course disappointed because I couldn't do anything.

In my second "lucid episode" I was also in my room, but this time everything was very bright. I looked out of the window and noticed that the road was purple. But the dream was ridiculously unstable. I moved one limb (I was just standing there) and that made me wake up.

The question is this - why are my LD's so bloody unstable?? I can't even use stabilization techniques because of this. My dreams NEVER last longer than 3 minutes either. Usually one minute. I want MOAR!

LMAO at topic name >_> Sounds like you need more training young padowan.

You know is there is a rather large plethora of dream stabilization techniques correct?

      Rubbing Your Hands Together.
      Spinning In A Circle.
      Focusing On A Single Object.
Shouting Commands (This did not work however).
      Meditating Whilst In Dream.
Slowly Counting To A Designated Number Until Dream Stabilizes.

The list literally goes on and on. Keep trying don't give up keep the faith. Sooner.... or later you'll get it.

When I spun in a circle in my LD I d last night, I always heard a Loud explosion and a big flash of bright light after I was done. And it was so easy to spin! and I spun really fast, is this a good sign? Also when I Rubbed my hands together, It felt ridiculously real! And yeah it was amazing, It did increase clarity, and made my dreams alot longer! I Only woke up when I Tried to have sex!

      Apologies.

I doubt it's the excitement though. When I became lucid for the very first time i got VERY excited, but it didn't wake me up. It was also my longest lucid, and maybe the most stable.
Nowadays I don't get excited anymore.

The best way to increase your success right of course is to have more scenarios where you could go lucid giving your more chances to practice.

For instance if this Saturday morning you could sleep in. Sleep for around 6 hours and set your alarm to wake you up in 2 hour increments sleeping a total of 10 hours lets say. This should give you 3'ish oppurtunities to become lucid. The last two most likely yielding the highest success rates.

It seems, this is one of the reasons . I see it on myself too. Take a look at this: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=51070

It was a topic I started when I was highly motivated.

I have had so very many lucid dreams like the one you described and I can tell you that I still get them alongside some quite vivid ones. All I can tell you is that your brain won't always be cooperative... I've had dreams where I did reality checks with numbers and they didn't change 3 times in a row, leaving me in a non-lucid state during a nightmare!

It's a shame when such things happen but you'll devise your own techniques to keep the clarity. Remember, at least you attained lucidity at all which is a great step and things can only go up from here.

I suggest you try swirling around in the dream that can help, or rub your hands together. Sometimes visualizing something you wish for within your mind's eye confidently can lead to what you want, just like visualizing light when you're in a dark dream like you were. Just saying something rarely works for me, you need to truly imagine it already being there.

It all sounds so difficult and can be quite difficult but you'll get there.

Experiment and don't ever give up...

      Dayum!

this is my first visit to this site in a looonnnngg time!!

i've almost totally forgotten about Lucid dreaming for a while. its scary now that i look back. i've still kept a dream journal, but ive forgotten what i was using it for! - LUCID F'in DREAMING

      - And ive had this problem many times. i know exactly what ur talkin about.
try not leaving your "attention bubble"
I've always found that you lose lucidity once you go out of your attention bubble.
ex// "dam! I'm in a lucid dream, i gotta go have sex!" *pop* the bubble breaks.

don't exert a force out, or you will always lose. keep yourself and your attention present at all times, or else you will be going back to your dream self.

a diagram to explain: for dreams

      __
      example 1:

      incentive to have sex

      you ------->
      ......<-------

opposite incentive - you cannot find anybody to have sex with (and your lucid dream concludes in you waking up or losing lucidity)
      __
      __
      example 2:

incentive to move and spin or rub your hands to achieve stability

      you ------->
      .....<-------

opposite incentive - you wake up before you can move
      __

if you are in any of these situations you have left your bubble (or played into the yin and yang)
to solve this problem stay in the bubble of attention, simultaneously acting out your desires.

      __
      example 3:

      the bubble is you
      ........______________
      ....../........................\
      ..../...desire to have sex.\
      ...|...........---->............|
      ...|...........<----............|
      ....\...opposite reaction../
      ......\.______________./
      __

once you keep in the bubble you can freely engage in your desires.

      What?
I was unable to do ANYthing. If doing anything is exiting my bubble then I guess Lucid dreaming is not for me. By the way - some people have lucid sex without problems so I guess your pseudo-theory is incorrect.
