      Nice WILDing position

Every time I have done this it has worked for me.
I hope it works for you too as I have heard the reasoning of this method from others as well after talking about it.

Most know WILDing is best done on your back. (out of your normal sleep position) and keeps you from falling asleep too quickly.
I bet most have tried this only to find themselves still awake hours later.
Most give up, as I have often, feeling cheated and a bit angry for the waste of time.

Well many of my co-Luciders and myself agree there is a body switch that stops you going to sleep when lying on your back (and similar...sitting upright etc).
Many times I have WILDed since, lying on my back, but with my head to the side and tilted upwards slightly. (Don't give yourself a stiff neck though).
We think this "switch" is linked to your head position and is located around the neck area. By doing this twist you trick your body (neck) into thinking you aren't sleeping on your back (or awake).

So unless over a long time you have trained yourself to sleep upright or on your back, or have done so all your life, try this method and it may just get you WILDing in the favorite position.

(Before any retort with "their position has worked"...I am only going on reports and communications I have had, and how many documents say to lay on your back to accomplish results)

I use this technique myself sometimes when I'm finding I can't fall asleep during a WILD. I find it does help.

I've mostly done my WILD attempts from by back. Although, regardless of my head position, I can't WILD from my back; I just can't fall asleep from there (with one exception when I did). I've ended up with the WILDs I've had by starting on my back and once I'm on the verge of sleep (but unable to due to my position), I'll turn to my side and try from there.

One odd thing to note is that when I wake up and find myself on my back with my right knee raised more than I find myself in other sleep positions upon waking. Although I may just notice these occurrences more than others.

Head to side (cheek on pillow) and tilt chin up slightly.
Also found when sleeping your eyes roll up too. Try resting your eyes up to the top, but not so much to hurt or make them flutter.

Old hag was scary first time. I laugh at her now.
I realise its my body reacting physically and mentally.
I see it (her lol) as my angel to Lucidity, electro-charging me to LDs.
BTW many of us have a hard time knowing when we are gonna move into LDs, so it is a definite sign.

I've only gotten the Old Hag once when I was younger, before I had ever succesfully had a WILD (had a few DILDs at that point). For me, it was your typical 'alien abduction' scenario

Since I've been actively, succesfully Lucid Dreaming, I haven't run into her/it/them. I tend to have the same problem above, an inability to fall asleep on my back, even though I can come damn close to having an LD (and I even feel like I'm being stretched out of my body and on the verge of my first OoBE-like LD). I'll definately have to try this method and see if that helps me break through.

I never wild when i sleep laying on my back. I have a excellent concentration, so the unique problem when i Wild it´s to fall asleep and when i sleep in another position different from the common that becomes harder...

After changing the sleep position my Wilds frequency increased, ok until now i only had 4 but that was because Deild still being my main technique so i don´t try it very times.

      I've had similar experiences.
On my back I just cannot fall asleep - well I can, if I'm *extremely* tired, which I hardly am.
Tilting the head allows me to fall asleep, too.
For a few times no, I've tried lying on my back without a tilted head for some time and relax, not thinking about anything. My awareness fades slightly and I percieve time faster, and when I think I've been lying around for long enough, I become conscious/aware again and tilt my head to the side, allowing myself to sleep.
Two nights ago I had semi-WILD experiences. I didn't experience the transition into the dream world, I just sort of "popped up" in it, lucid.
That night I decided to try that just *every* night. I've wanted to try different techniques but I often gave up or didn't even *actually* try them.
      That changed now

well thanks! now I'm going to have an old time WILD'ing on my back, and my whole relaxation technique relies on it! By the way though, I have to be on my back for the relaxation technique to work, but I normally sleep on my stomach with my hands above my head, one leg straight out, and one leg bent at the knee and slightly out to the side. If it helps, here is my relaxation technique: I imagine that I am a rag doll filled with sand. I see a doll from 3rd person view, and imagine the sand draining out of the toes and the fingers. I occasionally switch to first person as well. I have achieved mild success with this. I feel somewhat detached from my body; it is hard to move my hands, and when I do it is more a jerk than a smooth motion. It also feels like it is sent from far away, so it takes a second to get there. A good analogy would be a laggy computer game. I posted about this here on DV, and one member informed me it was the beginning of SP. Sorry for the incredibly long post, guess I just had a lot to say.

Strange (or logical) I came to the same conclusion some time ago. I wasted years for trying to WILD/OOBE form back position.
I would add one detail which helps me a lot. I roll bed cover under one side of my body from leg to arm. Thus position between back and side is more natural. I had my last LD from it

And by looking at where the Pineal Gland is situalted and our recent talks on it, it may very well act as this switch I am talking about in my method (see first post).
This gland is the dream transmitter (among other things).

Old hag, our eyes are closed correct? What's the problem?

Presence of someone next to you. Most likely there is someone next to you if you open your eyes but its a illusion that is scary Luckily I haven't experienced this.

Well it's not really related to this thread, you can PM me, but anyways:

The Old Hag is a common halucination during full SP of an old woman rushing at them. I think its just the screams some people get and voices.

Your eyes will be shut, but will seem open (as you are looking out with dream/energy eyes, dependant on your view).
All this will be in your head and be a FA or OBE depending on your view.
