Hey guys, I'm back with a question for you.
I've noticed a strange visual phenomenon lately. Basically, I'll be relaxing somewhere, maybe daydreaming or just in a state of near-meditative silence. Suddenly, I realize that what I'm seeing is not 'proper' reality. For example, one time I was sitting in a chair with my head in my hands, very relaxed. I was in a psychology lecture, and I noticed the tiles on the floor between my feet. There were two problems with this - the lecture hall has a rubbery floor with no tiles, and more importantly, my hands were clearly covering my eyes. Even if there were tiles, I wouldn't have been able to see them. The odd thing about it is that I couldn't tell if my eyes were open or closed at the time. I felt as if I was focusing at the proper depth to be looking at the floor, and I didn't feel like I was in any unusual state of consciousness. Just awake and relaxed. I could hear fine and feel my body the same as usual. This happens in various locations, looking at different things.
The question is, do you guys think this is some sort of pre-wild state of hallucination, some sort of very steady HI, or what? It only happens when I'm very tired. Could I conceivably use these occasions as doorways into a lucid dream? I've tried "walking in" to these scenes, but since I can still feel my body, I just move in real life and the vision goes away. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
