I tried this last night and amazingly it worked even if it did only last for a few seconds. Definitely be trying again soon :D.
I tried this twice last night and it didn't work either time. I got out of bed after hearing voices and was still awake. I think it might have been because I wasn't tired enough, I'm going to try 2 hours early tomorrow and see if that works any better.
Last night I think I was a little TOO tired.
My alarm woke me up at 3:30, but unfortunately I didn't remember having a dream then so I don't think I was in REM quite yet. I did reach the begining of SP though. TWICE! I waas a little TOO tired because I rolled over both times instantly upon the feeling. It's cause I wasn't thinking about it. The weird thing, after both times I felt that feeling, it was some how already 5:20 when it only felt like it had been an hour at most.
So I think my mistake was getting up before REM. I did have some dreams later on in the morning, but not controlled...
I'm definitely going to give it another shot tonight again though.
Okay, I haven't read this entire thread, so forgive me if the answer to my question is already posted here.
You said to wait for hallucinations to happen. Do you mean hypnagogic kind of stuff, or like "hey, I'm soooper tired and I could fall asleep any second" kind of stuff; like a DEILD?
I tried this the other night and as soon as I forgot I was laying in my bed I hopped up and plugged my nose! With no results.. I'm thinking I may have been in the wrong state of mind..? Could you please clarify?
Yeah, you sound exactly like me Excessaccess. You describe exactly what I've been trying to say the last couple days in my rants and raves.
I know exactly what you are talking about, that feeling of enlightenment, and knowing that you are milimeters away from losing conciousness. If there's any stage passed that, I don't know if I'll ever be able to do that. I've got mild ADHD that I'm on ritilan for, but I've never ever remember anything passed those feelings/thoughts. I get bright colors and shapes moving in my head, but never actually have the feeling that I can't move. It usually lasts anywhere from 4-15 seconds, but is that the right time to do it? When ever I wake myself up from this state of mind, it's always really tough to get back to sleep. Last night I experienced one of those 'time warps' after getting close to falling asleep a couple times, but never actually falling asleep.
Had a go last night. Got up after hallucinations begun, was awake. Getting up woke me up noticeably, so, following that, I took chaszu's suggestion, and tried the method a few more times with just the nose RC, no getting out of bed. Was awake each time.
Hey guys, I tried this today morning.. like 3 times actually. I've never had a LD before so this maybe the problem (been trying for like 2 months now anyway) but at what time will I notice sounds/hallucinations? I've never had any.. can someone explain how its like? and how long it takes?
Okay, I have had the dizzy thing in the past like I am floating and kind of rocking in almost every direction at once, depending on the direction I concentrate, and you fell a little high...
Lol, what the hell?
This is just WBTB'ing. Nothing that special, IMHO. But, it does work, it happened to me last night =]
But still, Pointless thread is pointless.
This may actually work for me, considering my sleep cycles are not very steady lately, and I just can't figure out how to visualize vividly enough for
malac's FG.
I'm going to run through it as my understanding, and you just tell me
how did I do, kay?
So..
-I wake up after a few hours sleep, in REM.
-As I wake up, I do what I have to do, go back to bed ASAP.
-Close my eyes, and relax, waiting for some sign of the dream world (Noise, HI, light-headiness..)
-After a while (Even if I don't think I got it) - I just hop, like I would normally, out of bed, and do a RC.
-Had I failed, I should be still in my bed, therefor - I should try again.
As for the closed eyes issue, If I were to preform a RC, and find out that I am dreaming, with this specific method, i'd keep my eyes shut for some time, while rubbing my hands, and focusing the rest of my senses. Maybe do another RC.
The thing is, you don't enter SP fully yet, therefor your body might still react to sudden eye lids movements - which will eventually lead to you waking up.
Sounds great, i'll give it a shot tonight.
I think I've actually done this same method by accident, one morning before school. I woke up from a dream, and so I thought to myself that I could force myself back into the dream. I got out of bed, and wasn't sure if I was awake or asleep. Turns out I was dreaming that time. Also, I was afraid to open my eyes.
So has anybody ever done this, and actually have a decent-length LD?
Guys this seems like a great technique, but the thread just dies.
I'm wondering if everyone who said they would experiment found it worked or not.
I'll try it and post the results. I swear.
Hmm, sounds like some people have had success with this. I'll try it out :D
I too will try this out and post my results tomorow :)
I think WILDing at least one is almost a prerequisite for this. :(
heres a good tip for opening your eyes in the dream:
while opening your eyes, pinch your nose and breathe through your nose. This way you will stay in the dream since your performing an action, more specifically a reality check, at the same time.
Would it be possible to do this technique when you go to sleep at night? I took a loooooooooooooooong nap and am feeling a bit groggy right now.
which is the best condition for WILDQuote:

Except I was about to go to bed at the time. I have school.
