Ok I've had pretty good luck with DEILD until lately. Every time I try to lucid, I can't fall back asleep. I'm so tired I'm always on the brink of reality. I just lay there until I get too hot or uncomfortable but this morning I laid there for over an hour and it was way too early for me to get up. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I'm certainly no DEILD expert...or even experienced with it too much, but if you are doing the technique correctly, it shouldn't take more than 1 minute to fall asleep, usually only 5-20 seconds.
That is, wake up after a dream, do NOT move, and lay there and use a tactile or visual scenario (if you want) to enter a dream.
If you are having that much trouble falling asleep, I'd say that you could be moving after you wake up OR perhaps you just aren't letting yourself fall asleep.
You are waking up after dreams, not just in the morning, right?
Try laying in a more comfortable position when you go to bed (like on your back). I have good experience with DEILDs, and I can never DEILD when I wake up in an uncomfortable position.
Also, I recommend doing DEILDs when it is still night time, because it is dark and you won't get distracted by noises like you would in the morning.

What you are doing sounds more like a WBTB, if you are spending an hour lying in bed.
I like to use reverse blinking to fall back to sleep. I use it during those WILD attempts when I'm just too wired to fall back asleep for whatever reason. B vitamins or too much alcohol the evening before, or GM, or stressful thoughts, or whatever.
Try a couple different relaxation tricks like the 61 point technique, or reverse blinking to find what works best for you.
There really shouldn't be a need for any techniques to fall back asleep if you have performed DEILD correctly. The only thing you should have to do is either think about your previous dream or visualize a new one.
It shouldn't take more than 30 seconds, certainly no more than a minute.
