It might work for you, but I've always found that the subconscious mind is really open to direct requests. Personally, I think the idea of 'tricking' the subconscious mind is a bit of a misnomer. The 'trick' is really to just make a request. |

I just had this theory in my head. The reason why lucid dreaming is so difficult to master is because the concept of lucid dreaming resides by default in the concious mind, not the subconcious. As long as it is in the concious mind it is very difficult to have them frequently. I figured a way that may be able to 'push' the idea of lucid dreaming into the subconcious and that is by suppression. But the person must already have the knowledge and concious awareness of lucid dreaming at the fingertips. You remember to RC when you see your dreamsign or feel like doing one during the day or walk past a door or whatever....Don't! No physical action reguarding lucid dreaming stuff, just passively acknowlege that you saw your dreamsign and know it's your dreamsign or know that you were supposed to do a reality check but you don't actually do it because you know your not dreaming now. By doing that the person is suppressing the idea of lucid dreaming from the concious mind into the subconcious because it was never concieved in reality/conciousness, just an impression. And when enough of it is suppressed into the subconcious, the person will get menifestations of lucid dreaming in dreams from about lucidity to being lucid. I can't explain how it actually works but I know it will just that someone with a better understanding of the mind may know what I'm talking about... |

I don't think that will work. You see, like you said, whenever you get the urge to do a reality check in real life, you decide not to because you "know" that you're awake. But this kind of thinking will cause you to forgo reality checks in dreams as well, because in a normal dream we are absolutely certain that we are awake. That's why it's so important to do repeated RC's in real life, because it takes what you think out of the equation. |

My subconscious is actually already pretty helpful. When my intention to become Lucid is strong enough. My subconscious will help by creating the most likely events for me to become Lucid during. then it's just up to me to take the next step and realize it. |

I've had a similar idea in the past. Like for a wake back to bed kinda thing. Tell myself to do a heap of reality checks but dont do them, and then go to sleep. kind of suppressing the desire, until you do them when unconscious. |
