      Lucid Dreaming

Hi i am new here. I have always been interested in dreams, everything about dreams, but i never knew that it was possible to have Lucid Dreams.

Anyways, I plan on trying some techniques tonight to have a Lucid Dream. Are there any ways i can prepare myself during the daytime? Anything at all will help, thanks!

Do reality checks, and keep a dream journal. These are the best ways to get Lucid.

A reality check is a way of checking if you are dreaming. For example holding you nose closed with you fingers and trying to breath in through your nose. It works in dreams ^^.
Putting one finger through your palm is also a popular method.

Another great way to increase your chances of geting lucid is to use autosuggestion. Basically come up with a short, clear sentence or phrase that sums up your goal. Like: "Realize I'm dreaming." Then repeat this "mantra" during the day (a good way to make sure you do it enough is to repeat it the whole time everytime you go to the bathroom). Then repeat it while getting ready for bed. Then repeat it some more (a minute or more) while falling asleep. That plus RCs plus a DJ (dream journal) will really help.

Lucid dreams can be amazing or blah, depends on how aware you are that you are dreaming, how clearly you are thinking, and what you decide to do. A lot of LDers like to just see where the dream will take them. Others want to change EVERYTHING and then act out some scenario they have planned. Most take some middle route.

I love my LDs! Usually I have a lot of fun, other times I'm serious and want to talk to my subconscous about something. But in general it is a mind-opening experience. Plus a side benifit of LDs, I now enjoy my non-lucid dreams more.
