What does SP feel like??
Every time i try a WILD i never actually go through SP.
All i feel a very tiny vibrations and a little numbness. When i get light i try inducing heaviness, it works for about 30 secs then disappears. I have never gotten to the point of total paralysis, i'm able to move when i want to with no difficulties Also:
1) is swallowing ok?
2) Do slight movements affect SP
Thanks in Adv

When SP happens for the first time you will most likley want it to stop. Its really good fun but can be quite scary the first time.
Also, swallowing is fine as are slight movement - for a while.
You should go to bed, and set an alarm for about 5 or 6 hours. Then when you wake up after 5 or 6 hours of sleep; turn off your alarm, lie down and think about lucid dreaming.
Get comfortable, and from then on dont move. Lie of your side if you have to keep swallowing.
You can think about things, but dont get too involved with your thoughts. You will most likely be in REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep, and so you could start dreaming at any time while lying in bed.
Remember the aim is not to stay awake, but rather to fall asleep with an aware mind. If you feel a sinking sensation or a detachment from your body; go with the feelings and try to intensify them. You could try counting breaths to keep yourself alert.
Hope that helps a little.

Yeah, Dizko explains amore WILDish method. For me, SP is very fun and exiting (but controlled exitement since I'll just come out of it if I get too exited). I get a lot of audio. Random scene's from the previous day, and then I'm suddeny pulled into a dream.

not everyone experiences SP.
maybe you are too awake when WILDing? maybe shorten your WBTB. I had this problem for ages, im finally at the point where I can fall asleep...(now my problem is I fall asleep too quickly! oh well..getting there)
heres the thing I find....let yourself swallow. Theres no reason to NOT. If you dont worry about swallowing....you just kind of forget about it and it becomes like breathing (if you swallow at all!)
All this said, Iv only WILDed once (and had no SP)...and these days I fall asleep whils trying, but swallowing has not affected this.

When I'm in SP my breath sounds like an air coditioner with a deep rumbling sound. Right before SP happens I feel dread and a falling feeling.

SP is wonderful as long as you dont fight it.

i love SP, i can feel my body all numb and it's like i could move my body if i wanted, but really let sleeping dogs lay. There is no need to worry.

The first time I experienced SP, I was attempting the DEILD method. I had just woke up straight from a lucid dream and didn't move at all. But silly me totally forgot about SP so I wasn't ready for it and never expected it to be so intense. I suddenly heard a screeching noise and then it turned into a loud humming with a subtle beat to it (I describe it to people as "WOMBA WOMBA WOMBA WOMBA"). I couldn't move or make any sounds and I was scared shitless. I went in and out of it for a few seconds.
The second time I experienced SP was actually just a little while ago. I was ready for it, even though it was kind of an accident. I wasn't nearly as scared. I felt instense vibrations, as if I were in an earthquake. I could hear the same humming noise but there was no screeching (although I could faintly hear a woman screaming in my left ear). I got too excited about having an LD and left SP.
So overall, your first experience is freaky (usually) but it doesn't take much to get used to it. I quite enjoy it now. :)

I have a question too: When I meditated last night, I got pretty deep, I could rock and stuff and not wake up, and then I started doing this nervous-habit thingy with my fingers, where I tap like I'm playing the piano. I was just barely moving but it gave me this tingly feeling, and I started going numb and the tingling went all over... was that SP?

Nope, but you were getting close, or so it sounds. In full SP, you can't move at all. I mean, it is sleep paralysis, after all. It really lives up to its name. In full SP, you can't move at all. You are fully paralyzed. The auditory hallucinations are also very obvious. Trust me, once you fully go into SP, you'll know it. But, like I said, it sounds like you were close.

Thx a lot guys,
Yesterday i think i reached SP. I set my alarm around 5hrs into my sleep i woke and lay in my bed till i got these really numb feelings. There was some HI of me trying to lock the girl from the ring out of my room which was absolutely terrifying.
After about the 20 mins the numbness started to increase, i could feel it building up and then all of a sudden there is this huge BANG in my ear and i cant move a thing.
I swear i almost shit myself so i forced my way out of it.
Twas a good experience though. Will keep trying :)
And yeah, the first experience is definably the worst. I thought i was ready after reading these stories but i was damn wrong

Wow, my first wasn't so bad, sorry to hear that. :\
Keep trying. After another one or two, you begin to understand it and it's very easy to accept the noises and possibly the feeling of a presence.
