May be what causes you to wake up all of a sudden upon becoming lucid is the fact that you probably get too excited. We all tend to get this thrush feeling, but you can control this.

All you have to do to remain in a lucid dream is just relax upon getting lucid and take a brief pause to observe your environment. After that, you can pretty much do anything you want-it's your dream.... This helps alot I been LDing since childhood and trust me this works for everyone.

rubbing my hands together calms me down and makes the dream much more vivid. I recommend trying it, and also looking at your hands. I never see my hands in a dream unless i'm lucid
