      Help needed... really.

(off-topic): I'm very sorry if this is not in the right forum - I'm extremely tired right now (and it's very late, too), I also had no chance to read the rules - and I can't seem to find them - but I'm definitely not new to messageboards...
BTW: Sorry about my english - I live in Poland, where not many ppl speak any foreign languages...

Ok, back on topic... I heard about LDing a looong time ago - it'll be over a year by now - I read a lot of stuff on that subject, and despite the time that has passed, I had none (well, almost none) success... mostly due to lack of motivation, and my other real life problems...

In my entire life, I only had maybe 2 minutes total of LDs - in about 4 or 5 dreams (some of these weren't even recorded by me, and my old dreamdiary has been lost in a... small accident with my other comp , and it was all a looong time ago) - anyway, this got me [almost] nowhere, but it's mostly - if not completely - my own fault, and now I could seriously use your help...

But first, I guess I got to tell ya a few facts about me and my life that are (or at least may be) important in this case:
      - some time ago I found my life totally pointless (don't ask how...), and I've had suicidal thoughts ever since that - my life's sorta screwed... by me [and you wondered how I got the idea for my nick... now u know...]
      - I'm the lazy one - a ton of things either await doing, or is only partially completed, and so far I failed to overcome this...
      - while I know that LDs aren't by any means an escape from reality, I have a strong feeling that I subconsciously assume otherwise...
      - I'm quite forgetful... and that spells disaster when it comes to doing RCs... (esp. when I'm in school, or otherwise engaged in some activity...)
      - apparently I'm totally 'blind' to all unusual things around me - I remember countless times when I was doing something totally out of ordinary in my dream, and failed to notice that it's not something I'd ever do in my real life...
      - my dream recall ain't best either - actually, it's quite horrible...
      - the only thing that has actually IMPROVED since my last failed attempts is that now my motivation is much better... but still apparently not enough...

I'm not going to bore you any more by telling how badly my life is screwed, as it's the wrong time and place to do that... I just expect some hints... that would be very appreciated.

Im sorry to hear about your condition. But fortunately there is good news. In my signature there is a link to a tutorial for an effective method. Its called the Wake Back to Bed method. This should help you get lucid soon.

If you have any questions, please post or pm me.

Ok, I'll take a look at it later...

And it's ok - it's me who got myself into that, and I'll try to bail out of it as well...

EDIT: *takes a look at that link* Hmmm... doesn't seem very applicable in my case... I got school, ya know... (not now, but it begins in about 3 weeks) - I just can't somehow imagine that happening...

First of all LDs aren’t everything, so I hope you won’t take this setback too seriously.

That out of the way, realize that anyone can be a lucid dreamer, as long as you give it time, you will be able to have a lucid dream.

      1. Start a new dream journal and keep up with it. A few minutes a day should be enough for you to start improving that recall immediately.

      2. For the RC problem. If you have a watch that does the hourly chime thing, use that to help you remember to do RCs. If not, write a message to help you remember RCs on your hand. Both these methods work very well. RCs seem to be the ticket if you don't have the habit of observing your surroundings, so try it out.

      Good luck.

You don't seem to have much confidence! Just work hard and never doubt yourself! You can do it if you keep focused and believe in yourself.

Just keep at it. How long have you been trying to induce LDs? It took me almost 3 weeks to have my first after coming here and my second was another 2.5 or so weeks after that (2 days ago). They were, individually, about 10 seconds long and 25 seconds long. Don't get discouraged, though. Try to look for positive signs, like any sort of questioning you may have done during a dream, even if it didn't cause you to become lucid. Try to stay positive and don't stress about it.

Also, if you ever want to talk about anything, feel free to PM me. I'm willing to listen and try to give advice if I can.

And, your English is very good! Why do a lot of ppl say their English is bad, but I can usually understand them quite well. (I'm also studying Russian )

Yeah, I figured that out too... my attitude was (and unfortunately still is) something like "it'll be great if I succeed, but..." - u get the idea... and my problem is, while I know that it's bad, I always fail when I try to change it - mainly because I got several other serious and not-so-serious problems in my life, and they're distracting me...

EDIT: I finally found some time to read some interesting posts here - I guess that HILD has a good chance of working in my case, esp. that most of the time I stay awake for VERY long (too long, I only get about 6 hours of sleep daily) - so yeah... I'll try...
